Chapter 1 - 01 - Where It All Went Wrong

Shaaaaaa—

Rain poured heavily, accompanied by a thick fog that blurred the surroundings.

Nagi, who had just finished her part-time job, stood at the roadside, waiting for the traffic light to turn green. An umbrella was clutched in her hand.

Her eyes were fixed on her phone, reading a novel she had recently grown fond of.

A cliché romance novel titled After The Pain, There's You—about a beautiful girl from an ordinary family, surrounded by the attention of men from powerful conglomerate families.

Reading stories like this was one of her escapes. When life felt overwhelming, she chose to lose herself in the things she loved—so she wouldn't regret anything later.

The traffic light flickered, then turned green.

Without looking left or right, Nagi stepped forward to cross the street, her eyes still glued to her phone screen.

That was when she realized—

a blinding light was rushing toward her from the right.

The moment she recognized it as a speeding truck—

it was already too late.

BANG—

The umbrella slipped from her grasp and was thrown far away. Her vision blurred, her ears ringing endlessly.

Strangely, she felt no pain.

But when she looked at her hands—

blood.

"Hahh…"

Am I going to die?

I… can't feel anything.

Dying like this?

I haven't even done the things I wanted to do.

After working so hard to get into my dream university…

studying while working… only to end like this?

Tears streamed down her cheeks.

Slowly, her vision began to darken.

Uwahhhh T_T

God… please give me one more chance.

I won't use my phone while crossing the street ever again…

I don't want to end like this.

Ding!

A notification sound rang.

The latest chapter of the novel she was reading… had just been released.

.

.

.

When she opened her eyes, Nagi was greeted by an unfamiliar ceiling.

She blinked, then slowly shifted her gaze around.

A spacious room stretched before her—filled with luxurious furniture arranged neatly and elegantly.

The bed she lay on was incredibly soft, covered with a smooth blanket.

"…Huh?"

Wasn't I just hit by a truck?

Then… how am I here?

Before she could process it, a knock came from the door.

Knock. Knock.

"Miss Shirayuki, are you awake? It's already seven in the morning. Time to come down for breakfast."

Shirayuki? Miss?

Who?

…Me?

Nagi immediately sat up.

And that was when she saw her reflection in the mirror.

A beautiful girl stared back at her.

Clear blue eyes, as bright as the sky. Platinum blonde hair cascading softly over the bed. Pale, flawless skin like porcelain, wrapped in an elegant nightgown.

…That wasn't her.

Wait a second…

Her head suddenly felt heavy. The world spun, and a ringing filled her ears.

Then—

memories that weren't hers began to flood in, one after another, like fragments of a film forcibly playing inside her mind.

Fragments of a girl's life…

Shirayuki Kujo.

Her breath hitched.

That name wasn't unfamiliar.

Shirayuki Kujo—

the fiancée of the male lead…

who would ultimately be abandoned.

No… this must be a dream.

There's no way I…

But the reflection in the mirror didn't change.

Those blue eyes continued to stare at her.

That face was still not hers.

…Did I transmigrated into that novel?

"Miss?"

The voice from behind the door came again, softer this time, as if hesitant.

Nagi flinched. Her hand unconsciously gripped the blanket.

"…Ah—yes. I'll be down soon."

Her voice sounded calm.

Too calm… for someone who had just realized her life was no longer her own.

I got out of bed and grabbed Shirayuki's phone.

Quickly, I checked the date and day—

confirming where the story currently stood.

April 7th. Monday.

The first day of school.

This is where everything begins.

If I remember correctly…

Shirayuki Kujo was absent on the first day due to illness.

According to the memories I saw, she had accidentally fallen into a fish pond at her grandfather's house, causing her to catch a fever.

I placed my hand on my forehead—checking Shirayuki's body temperature, which was now mine.

Warm.

Slightly higher than normal.

So it's true.

I paused.

Should I follow the storyline and stay home today?

If I keep following the story…

won't I still be abandoned in the end?

No, wait…

I'm not the original Shirayuki Kujo. So what if I get abandoned?

Her family is a conglomerate. Even without being the male lead's fiancée, my life should still be secure.

My gaze swept across the room.

Everything here—luxurious, perfect.

Can't I just enjoy all of this?

Hmm… this is a tough choice.

I lowered my hand.

"It's just a slight fever. I can handle it."

It would be better to go to school today and see how the story unfolds. Whether there's any penalty for not following it.

I quickly got out of bed and headed to the bathroom.

Warm water flowed over my body, easing the lingering dizziness. The reflection in the mirror once again confirmed the reality I still couldn't fully accept.

Shirayuki Kujo's face.

But now… it was mine.

Not long after, I stepped out of my room and headed to the dining area.

The room was spacious, with a long table already filled with dishes.

Two people were seated there.

Both turned to look at me.

"…Yuki?"

One of them raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised.

"I thought you wouldn't be going today."

I paused.

Their gazes—sharp, observant.

These must be Shirayuki's older brothers.

Kujo Renji and Kujo Haruki.

The man on the right looked at me with a cold expression. Sharp features, neatly styled black hair, and piercing blue eyes.

Kujo Renji—the eldest.

Beside him, another man leaned back more casually. Platinum blonde hair like mine, paired with warmer purple eyes. His aura was far more relaxed.

Kujo Haruki—the second brother.

I took a slow breath, calming myself.

"…I want to go today," I said briefly, with a faint smile.

I sat down in the available seat, trying to appear as normal as possible.

Not long after, we began eating the dishes that had been prepared.

A few moments passed in silence.

Only the soft clinking of cutlery could be heard.

However—

I could feel a sharp gaze from across the table.

For some reason, the atmosphere felt… awkward.

"Why not take the day off? You don't look well."

Kujo Renji, who had been silently observing me, finally spoke while looking straight at me.

I paused my meal and met his gaze.

"I don't want to miss the entrance ceremony."

That was a lie.

"If it's just for the ceremony, there's nothing special about it," he replied calmly. "What matters more is your health. What if you suddenly faint?"

"Don't worry, Brother. I'm feeling much better now."

He fell silent for a moment, studying me closely.

Then, he let out a quiet sigh.

"…Very well. But if you start feeling unwell, contact Haruki immediately. Let him pick you up."

"Thank you, Brother."

I smiled.

.

.

.

The car moved steadily along the road.

I looked out the window as the scenery gradually shifted into a vast school area.

On a stone wall stood a name—

Seiran Academy.

An elite school for those at the very top.

But not completely closed.

Scholarship programs were still open—

and from what I remembered, the female lead was one of the top ten scholarship students this year.

The building stood majestically, with elegant architecture and a vast courtyard already filled with students.

The car slowed down, then came to a stop right in front of the gate.

The driver stepped out first.

I waited for a moment… until the door beside me was opened.

"Please, Miss," the driver said politely.

I stepped out of the car, instinctively smoothing my skirt.

"…Thank you."

The driver gave a respectful nod before closing the door.

The moment my feet touched the ground—

several pairs of eyes immediately turned toward me.

…As expected.

Being a member of the Kujo family was clearly not something that could be ignored.

But I didn't pay it much attention.

"Call me if anything happens," Haruki said from inside the car.

I gave a small nod.

"…Alright."

I began walking toward the main building.

My steps halted for a moment.

Amid the crowd—

people's attention wasn't on me.

But… on someone in the distance.

I followed their gaze.

And there she was.

A girl with long black hair falling neatly down her back, standing with a straight posture and an aura that was impossible to ignore.

Her face was beautiful—sharp and refined, with eyes that seemed indifferent to everything around her.

Without doing anything, she had already become the center of attention.

There was no mistake—

she was Kanzaki Akira.

Some students looked at her in admiration, while others whispered among themselves.

"Who is she?"

"You don't know? She's one of this year's scholarship students—the one who ranked first in the entrance exam."

"Huh? That's her?"

"She's so beautiful."

I could even hear their whispers about her.

.

.

.

I stepped into the main building.

A long corridor stretched out before me, filled with students coming and going. The sound of conversations echoed here and there, creating a lively yet orderly atmosphere.

A few gazes turned toward me again as I passed by.

But I only had one destination.

The notice board.

I walked toward the crowd gathered in front of a large board at the end of the hallway.

That was where the class assignments were posted.

I scanned the list one by one, and eventually found the name Shirayuki Kujo under Class 1-A.

There it was—my name, written clearly.

ShirayukiKujo — Class 1-A

Class A…

A special class.

A place where the best students gathered—both in terms of status and ability.

My breath caught for a moment.

If I remember correctly…

I traced the list of names in the same class once more.

And—

I recognized some of them.

Tenshou Aizen.

That name immediately caught my attention.

Shirayuki's fiancé.

The male lead… of this story.

Then—

Kanzaki Akira.

The female lead.

One of the ten scholarship students.

And it didn't stop there.

Kirishima Ryuusei.

Mikazuki Yuu.

All three main male leads… were in the same class.

"…Seriously?"

I muttered under my breath.

This wasn't just a coincidence.

This was the center of the story.

All the important characters… gathered in one place.

And now—

I was part of it.

Before I could fully process the shock of the class assignments—the atmosphere around me suddenly shifted.

Some of the conversations quieted down.

People's gazes… turned in one direction.

Soft footsteps echoed, yet they were enough to draw attention.

I followed their gaze.

And there he was.

A man with silver hair that shimmered faintly under the light, paired with sharp red eyes.

His expression was calm—yet he exuded a cold aura that made others hesitant to approach.

Without doing anything, his mere presence was enough to suppress the atmosphere around him.

Tenshou Aizen.

He glanced around before those red eyes finally shifted toward me.

Just for a split second.

Brief.

Fleeting.

But enough to make my breath hitch.

…Just now?

I froze in place.

My heart started beating a little faster.

Did he… look at me?

No.

That shouldn't happen.

In this story—

he was never supposed to truly notice Shirayuki Kujo.

…It's just a coincidence.

Right?
