Chapter 2 - 2: A CLOAKED FIGURE

The two walked out of the cabin a forest surrounded them, as they stood in a massive open clearing filled With grass growing all around it.

The cabin they had just come out of, stood in the middle of the clearing. With a forest surrounding it.

"What exactly am I looking at here? Aren't we suppose to be reincarnated into some terrible offal world again" Hana asked her voice tinged

with deep skepticism and distrust.

Miyuki's thought's ran along the same lines because both of them had been consistently reincarnated into a world, full of danger around

every corner.

Actually thinking about it, in the three worlds they've reincarnated into they never once lived past their early teens.

Fifteen years old was the age they always seemed to die at. Despite their past experiences, fate always threw something harder and more terrible then the last.

However a dangerous thought creeped in. He had sensing range of about 183cm currently, because of his physical age and rank.

Which was currently C rank but even from here with a weak his sensing range, his animal like instincts didn't seem to tell him to run away.

The opposite happened, his body started to unconsciously relax. He looked at Hana.

Her brilliant yellow eyes still had a deep unease in them as she stared at the clearing, her pink lips where pursed in a way she only does

when she's deeply worried about something.

His hand slipped into hers and his fingers intertwined with hers. She finally looked at him "It can't be as bad, as the last world we

reincarnated to. Let's see what's in our surroundings and start from there"

She squeezed his hand a little before releasing a shaky breath.

"sure." Was all she said before, they both separated and started exploring their surroundings.

––––––

It's been a hour or so, since they both separated to exploretheir surroundings and it was currently mid-day. When they met back–up.

"Did you find anything interesting?" Asked Miyuki

"yeah if you go into the forest and head east, there's a town there. So we're not completely isolated… there's also some footprints going in

that direction" When she mentioned the last part her eyes narrowed somewhat.

"I found a small riverbank and a garden nearby, with a small shed filled with gardening tools, there was also a sword there as well" Miyuki

stated what he found.

Hana's face scrunched up in irritation "So basically some random person, who lives alone in the middle of a forest found us. Then proceeded to stuff those gems or crystal things inside of us to suppress our manna left us

in his shed. For God who knows what and we still don't why."

A simple non-committed shrug was Miyuki's reply.

She let out a tired sigh "… You know, you should take this more seriously, what if some pedo did that to us, what if it's some creepy old

dude who wants to sell us off so he can get a hooker or maybe a cultivation main character…"

She couldn't help but shiver at the last part "just thinking about it gives me the creeps."

Miyuki gave her a deadpan look "Your doing that thing, which is cute but I don't think this is the time."

Hana's cheeks slightly reddened from embarrassment, as she gave off a awkward chuckle.

He continued "Since we don't know when this person will come back and we don't know his/her intentions. I think it's best we 'borrow' some

of his cash and whatever valuable thing we can find in that cabin."

She had a dazed expression for a moment "You know it's been a long time since we've 'liberated' someone of their valuables."

"…Yeah it has"

––––––

A full hour passed before both were standing in the clearing again, still dressed in their sleeping robes and walking bare foot.

However this time they carried valuables with them.

Hana had two brown make shift cloaks, that were in there size, slung over her shoulder. A small pouch with coins and a handful of dried

meat.

Miyuki carried a simple dagger, that was in a sheath.

A small pouch, that had the gems, that were inside of them earlier. They were bound to be worth something... Right?

"Before we go, what are we going to do about our wing problem" asked Miyuki

Hana gave him one of the cloaks she had " I thought we could use these but the problem is that their going to stick out, even with

cloaks on"

As Miyuki put on his cloak. She continued "So I tried channeling manna into them and I found out two things. First I can make the

wings as hard as steel and as sharp as a sword, maybe even more. Second I can

control their size making them as big as me or as small as my little hand"

She demonstrated this by shrinking her wings to the size of her hand, then increasing there size to match her own.

Miyuki channeled manna through his wings but he only felt them harden. "It didn't work, mine only harden when I channel manna through

them."

Hana pursed her lips in confusion. "Try imagining it happen, then let's see"

Doing as he was to told he felt them shrink, then he felt them inlarge and surprisingly, there size had little effect on mobility.

"Alright since we have everything we need and fixed our wing problem, let's head out." Said Miyuki.

A soft 'mmm' was the response Hana offered.

"Where do you two, think your going with all of 'my' property?" A soft melodic voice said, from behind Miyuki

Miyuki flooded his body with manna and unsheathed the dagger he was carrying, then spun on his heel and immediately slashed.

It was an instinctual action for him, even if the body was new and the muscle memory wasn't their. He had experience from three lifetimes,

to draw on.

So his mind still knew what to do, his body however seemed to lag, behind his thoughts.

His attack missed and the cloaked figure immediately jumped back, to create space. "… Interesting."

Hana was not idle as she started chanting. "STEADY FLAM HID MY CALL DRAW BREATH (ORBIT)"

Three small balls of fire appeared around Hana and started lazily spinning horizontally around her. They pulsed from time to time as if

alive.

"Ah, you also removed the manna suppressers I put in you… You two must have suffered much, to have that amount of resolve." The cloaked figure's voice was now tinged with respect, instead of it's earlier indifference.

Miyuki frowned, Hana hadn't sensed this person and he hadn't caught their scent or heard any noise when they approached. Even with his near animal like sense's.

Who ever they were, they were strong, so he decided to prop for answers "You're the one who put those gems in us?"

"yes" the answer was short and to the point, not what Miyuki had wanted her to answer with.
