(Jay POV)
"Oh my God…" I muttered, running a hand through my hair as I paced near the gate."This is the worst. No—this is actually the worst I've ever seen Drew in," I said under my breath.
I glanced back at the house.
Drew.
His home didn't feel like a home today. It felt heavy… like something had been breaking there for a long time, and I had just stepped into it.
"He's faced so much," I whispered, more to myself than anyone else. "And he didn't even tell Keifer…"
That didn't feel right.
I pulled out my phone again and frowned. "Where is that stupid red rooster?" I said, annoyed.
Yuri.
"I've been calling him for twenty minutes," I complained, staring at my screen. "Not a single reply. Seriously?"
"Jay."
I turned quickly at the sound of Drew's voice.
"You should wait," he said quietly. "Keifer is on his way."
"What?" I asked, my eyes widening.
"Yuri called him," Drew explained. "He had to leave for something urgent."
"Oh my God… shit," I groaned, pressing my palm to my forehead."What the hell is wrong with this Yuri?" I said in frustration. "If Keifer finds out I'm at your house—"
I paused, exhaling sharply. "…I'm dead."
We sat down after that.
Tried to talk.
Tried to act normal.
But my mind wouldn't stop racing.
And then…I felt it.
A presence behind me.
Heavy, Sharp,Familiar.
My breath hitched.
I didn't even turn around.
I already knew.
Before I could say anything, his hand wrapped around mine—tight and firm.
"Let's go," he said, his voice low and controlled.
"Keifer, wait—" I started, but he didn't respond.
He didn't look at Drew. He didn't say a word.
He just pulled me along.
He opened the car door and pushed me into the seat—not harshly, but firmly.
"Keifer…" I said softly, looking at him.
He shut the door with a strong thud and without replying
The sound made my heart jump.
He got into the driver's seat and started the car.
Silence filled the space between us.
"Keifer, I—" I tried again.
Nothing.
Not even a glance.
I looked down at my phone and froze.
"Forty-nine messages?" I whispered. "Fifteen calls from Aries… twenty from Kuya Angelo…"
"Oh shit," I muttered. "I'm actually going to die today."
I let out a nervous breath. "I can literally see my own funeral in an hour," I said weakly.
Still nothing.
"Keifer, I'm sorry," I said quietly.
His grip tightened on the steering wheel.
His knuckles turned white.
I looked away.
"Okay… not the right time," I murmured to myself.
The road slowly changed.
Fewer buildings.
More trees.
"Where are we going?" I asked softly.
No answer.
The car stopped.
Middle of nowhere.
I hesitated before stepping out. "Keifer…" I said, unsure.
But I followed him anyway.
Because I trusted him.
He turned suddenly.
"What the hell were you thinking, Jay?" he asked, his voice sharp but not loud."Do you think no one cares about you?"
"I know, Keifer—" I started.
"Do you?" he cut in. "Do you have any idea how scared I was?" he asked, his voice tightening."What if something happened to you? What was I supposed to do then?"
"I just wanted to understand Drew," I said softly. "His family… he's going through so much."
"And you thought going alone was a good idea?" he asked, frustration clear in his voice.
I lowered my gaze. "I'm sorry," I said. "I know I worried you."
He didn't reply immediately.
I reached out and held his hand gently. "I promise," I said quietly. "I won't do this again."
His expression softened slightly.
"Don't cry," he said, cupping my face. "I hate seeing you cry."
"I'm not—" I tried, but my voice broke.
"Just don't do this again," he said more gently. "Promise me."
"I promise," I said.
🔑 Jay – Pov.
The drive back was quiet.
But softer.
When we reached my house, I opened the door… then stopped.
"Keifer," I said, turning back toward him.
"What is it?" he asked.
"I want to talk to you tonight," I said.
"Is everything okay?" he asked, his tone softer now.
"Yes," I nodded. "Just call me when you get home."
"Okay," he said.
Later that night…
"I think we should give this a name," I said softly over the phone.
There was silence.
"I want us to be official," I added.
"Of course, Jay," he said after a pause. "That's what I've been waiting for."
I smiled.
"So… wifey," he said lightly, "date tomorrow?"
"Oh my God," I laughed. "You already started?"
"Where do you want to go?" he asked.
"Shut up," I said playfully.
"Careful," he warned. "Profanity."
"Whatever," I said.
"Say one more," he said softly, "and I won't wait till tomorrow."
My cheeks warmed I could feel my cheeks turs into stawbeery
"Good night, Keifer," I said quickly.
"Good night, Wifey see you tomorrow ," he replied.
