"And?" Victor asked.
Lucien frowned slightly. "And that's it. No explanation. No reason."
Silence followed again, this time heavier, more deliberate.
Elena shifted slightly in her seat, her gaze turning toward the window, though her attention was entirely on the conversation.
Victor finally spoke."Then you'll go with her now."
Lucien's grip tightened.
"You don't think this is suspicious?" He asked. "He doesn't make random calls, especially not to her… Right? Shouldn't be be calling you?"
"I'm aware of that," Victor replied calmly.
That calmness in his voice… was what made it worse.
Lucien let out a quiet breath, frustration creeping in despite his effort to contain it. "What if he knows something?"
The question hung in the air for a moment too long.
"If he knows something," Victor said slowly, "then you will find out what it is."
Lucien glanced briefly at Elena before looking back at the road.
"And if he doesn't?" He pressed.
