Chapter 1 - The Day I Stopped Trusting Everyone

Chapter 1: This Actually Happened

I'm not writing this for attention.

I'm writing this because I still don't have answers.

This happened during my second year of college.

It was a normal day—lectures, canteen noise, stupid jokes, nothing special. I left my phone on the desk while going to the washroom.

I do that every day. I trusted my friends.

That day, I shouldn't have.

When I came back, my phone was exactly where I left it.

Same position.

Same screen off.

No missed calls.

But something felt… off.

I unlocked it.

At first, nothing. Then I opened WhatsApp.

There was a chat at the top—sent from my number.

I hadn't sent it.

The message was sent 12 minutes ago.

To someone I barely talk to.

The text said:

"I know what you did. Don't act innocent."

My stomach dropped.

I scrolled.

There were more messages.

Angry ones.

Accusations.

Things I would never say.

Things that could destroy friendships.

My hands started shaking.

I checked my sent messages.

Then my deleted messages.

Nothing.

No app history.

No sign of hacking.

No unfamiliar login.

I asked my friends if anyone touched my phone.

Everyone said the same thing:

"No bro, why would we?"

Maybe they were telling the truth.

Maybe one of them wasn't.

That night, I locked my phone and put it under my pillow.

At 2:11 a.m., it vibrated.

A notification appeared on my lock screen.

From my own number.

"You still don't know who did it."

I didn't sleep after that.

And till today…

I don't know who I can trust.
