Chapter 3 - Devil Fruit

A random treasure chest!

A random chest rewarded by the Pirate System meant Sora Yukihara could draw top-tier Devil Fruits like the Dark-Dark Fruit, the Glint-Glint Fruit, or the Rumble-Rumble Fruit—or he might just get some useless equipment.

If luck really played tricks on him, he might even end up pulling something ridiculous like Nami's underwear.

"It's completely a gamble…"

Sora Yukihara cursed, "Damn it, why can those spiders only work on Peter? If they worked on me too, why would I have handed it over?"

After grumbling for a bit, Sora Yukihara had no choice but to accept reality.

Open the chest.

Sora Yukihara's breathing stopped for a moment.

Inside the chest appeared three Devil Fruits… and two swords.

But not everything here belonged to him.

He had only completed one mission, so he could only choose one reward.

Hoo…

Sora Yukihara took a deep breath.

The two swords were both excellent, but weapons were the least scarce thing in the Marvel world. He immediately ignored them.

What truly attracted him were the three Devil Fruits.

The first was the Chop-Chop Fruit.

It was quite famous, allowing the user to split any part of their body into multiple pieces at will, making sword slashes almost completely ineffective.

However, its weaknesses were obvious. Unless external force intervened, the user's feet had to remain grounded while split—and the ability itself looked rather grotesque.

"Pass."

Sora Yukihara rejected it without hesitation.

The second Devil Fruit was the Slice-Slice Fruit.

Its ability allowed the user to turn any part of their body into blades, while also making their skin as hard as steel.

It was practically an enhanced version of a steel body—extremely powerful.

"Not bad… not bad."

Sora Yukihara was tempted, but he didn't rush.

The third Devil Fruit was the String-String Fruit.

This was the Devil Fruit used by one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea—the infamous "Heavenly Yaksha," Donquixote Doflamingo.

The String-String Fruit allowed Sora Yukihara to generate threads, remotely control others, attach threads to clouds to fly through the sky, and manipulate the limbs of multiple people at once. It could also slice through people and objects with invisible threads, though it couldn't control a person's will.

Beyond that, the threads could block electromagnetic waves and communication signals, preventing anyone trapped within them from contacting the outside world.

The threads themselves were also deadly weapons, capable of cutting through metal harder than steel—nearly impossible to defend against, and extremely insidious.

"This is the one."

The moment Sora Yukihara saw it, he made his decision.

Without the slightest hesitation, he chose the String-String Fruit and devoured it, flesh and all.

"It tastes awful!"

"But this feeling…!"

"My god, what are these memories?!"

The more Sora Yukihara ate, the more overwhelming the surge of power became.

It wasn't just a physical transformation—it also brought Doflamingo's understanding of the String-String Fruit.

"So the Devil Fruits have been optimized by the system!"

Sora Yukihara exclaimed excitedly, "After eating the String-String Fruit, not only do I not have the weakness to seawater, I've also inherited most of Doflamingo's power before Awakening. Not just physical strength, but also his mastery over the fruit's abilities."

Sora Yukihara raised his hand, and a nearly invisible thread wrapped around the refrigerator.

With a slight pull, the fridge door opened.

"Haha…"

Grinning, Sora Yukihara flicked his fingers again. A second thread wrapped around a bottle of juice inside the fridge, and with a gentle motion, it flew straight into his hand.

Everything felt effortless—natural.

"A perfect ability."

Sora Yukihara's eyes gleamed. "If the system upgrades and the Devil Fruit ability awakens, I'll basically become Doflamingo in the Marvel world."

Although Sora Yukihara didn't know how to upgrade the system yet, he knew that as long as he kept completing missions and submitting treasures, it would eventually evolve.

"What a pity I didn't inherit Haki."

"And the system only accepts each type of treasure once. Otherwise, I'd have Peter visit Oscorp a few more times."

Sora Yukihara knew he was being greedy.

But whether it was Haki or Devil Fruits—even the most basic Observation Haki would be immensely beneficial to him.

"Sora Yukihara!"

Gwen's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

He quickly went to open the door.

Gwen stood there, looking at him with an annoyed expression.

Only then did Sora Yukihara remember—he had left early and stood her up.

Feigning anger, Gwen asked, "Why did you disappear halfway through the internship?"

Sora Yukihara immediately replied, "It's all Peter's fault! I don't know what happened to him, but he was acting really strange, so I brought him back."

Friends were meant to take the blame.

And since Sora Yukihara had already sold Peter out before, he felt no guilt at all.

"Alright…"

"You're too kind."

Gwen forgave him.

"Got away with it again."

Sora Yukihara praised himself inwardly, but soon returned to his usual shameless self. He pulled Gwen into his arms and asked, "Baby, did you miss me? I'm finally free these days—how about we go on a vacation together?"

After two months of planning, he had finally reaped the rewards. It was time to relax a bit.

And, of course, deepen his relationship with the goddess.

"A vacation? Are you serious?"

Gwen looked at Sora Yukihara curiously.

But remembering the real reason she came, she quickly asked, "Sora Yukihara, did Peter do something at Oscorp? Why is the company secretly investigating him?"

"What?"
