Zaliyah stopped dead in his tracks. His boots froze against the cold floor, and he stood silent for a long while. The words struck a bitter chord within his chest.
How could I forget? he thought, a smile spreading across his face. He spent so much time subconsciously clinging to the moral structures of his past life in the human realm. It was a hard pill for him to swallow, but it appeared his young daughter had already swallowed the reality of their demonic and celestial hybrid natures with no identity issues whatsoever.
Breaking his silence, Zaliyah resumed walking.
"Do I get to play with him?" Sylaris pushed, leaning out of Harun's arms.
"Yes," Zaliyah replied tiredly, finally reaching his grand chamber and settling his exhausted body down onto a velvet chaise.
The moment Harun set Sylaris down onto the carpeted floor, the little girl sprinted straight toward Talha. She began circling the scrawny youth like a small, predatory beast evaluating its prey.
