I woke up in the medical cabin. Turns out I passed out in the woods. They found me four hours after we got separated. My body feels stiff in a way I can't quite explain. I take a look around the cabin. It's small. A few beds are along the walls, each having curtains. None of them are closed, though there's a cup of water sitting next to me with a note. "Feel better," it says. The cabin door flings open, and my friends come rushing in loudly. "Gosh, could you be any more obnoxious?" They all go quiet. "Dude, what happened out there?" Conner asks. "You were with us one second, then the next you were just gone." I stare into the glass of water. "I don't know. I bent down to tie my shoe, and when I stood up, you all were just gone." They all stand there silent. "We went back," Adrian says. "To that creepy building." I look at him. "Why?" "We were looking for you!" He said, "But we saw something in the window. I don't know what it was, but it looked kinda human-shaped."Silence fills the room. "So what do you think it was?" I ask. "I don't know. We aren't sure it was anything. We didn't see it move, but none of us remember it being there before." I sit up. "Well, what now?" "We finish the trip. We only have three days left. Then we're home away from that creepy building," Ken says. My eyes start to feel heavy. I grab my phone and look at the time: 8:30 p.m. I look back at them and sigh. "Yeah, I guess that's all we really can do." Soon after, they went back to their cabin. We didn't talk much more before they left. I lay in bed looking at the ceiling. "Just a few more days," I drink the water before trying to go to sleep. I lay there tossing and turning. It's been hours, and I can't sleep. I grab my phone. 12:26 a.m. i unlock it and start scrolling through apps. I notice my camera was opened. I don't remember opening that. I tap it. My heart stops for a moment. What I saw was a picture of me. I was on the ground in the woods. this has to have been taken when I passed out, but who took it? My mind kept racing, trying to figure out how this picture could be on my phone. I was alone in those woods. Then I remembered the breathing. Whatever took this picture had to have been whatever I heard breathing behind me. Then I noticed it in the corner of the picture— something dark covering the camera lens slightly, like when your finger is in the way when you're not holding the camera right. I deleted the picture and turned off my phone. Somehow, I managed to fall asleep. I woke up the next morning, my body still having that stiff feeling. I saw motion out of the corner of my eye. Someone was walking out of the door. I couldn't tell who it was. All I could see was long blond hair. Who was that?, thinking maybe it was a counselor. I looked over. the glass of water was full again. I pick it up. It was cold. The outside of the glass was covered in condensation. I drank the entire glass. "Just more two days," I let out a sigh before getting out of bed. Ever since I blacked out, I've been more on edge and alert to what's around me.
I step outside of the cabin. I look around and see the other cabins. They make a rectangle. There were fifteen of them, but off to the side, there are a few storage sheds near the medical cabin. There were also two extra cabins near the same area as the sheds and med cabin. The wind blows. It's colder than it was the past couple of days. I see everyone in my school. Two of the freshmen are racing up a tree, and everyone's crowded around. I walk over to everyone. Everyone is cheering loudly. The noise is bothering me more than it should be. It's making it hard to focus. I keep walking, then I hit someone. It was Layla. "Oh, uhm, my bad," I say, then try and walk away. "Wait," she says as she reaches for my hand. I look back at her. "What?" I wait, but she doesn't respond. She stands there playing with a strand of her blond hair, looking as if she can't find the words she's looking for. "There it is. Never knowing what to say, just like before," I say as I turn back and walk away from her. It was her who brought me the water wasnt it. I started walking back to my cabin, hoping to find my friends on my way there. Something catches my eye. I look over at the trees. There's nothing. What was that? I walked faster to my cabin, glancing at the tree line every few seconds, but I never saw anything. I get into the cabin, and my friends are all inside. "You good, man? You look annoyed and a little on edge," Conner says. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just ran into Layla a few minutes ago." I walk to the small sofa we had, not even thinking to mention the strange feeling about the woods. "Man, if she's bothering you, just find a way to get back at her," Adrian says while he eats from a bag of chips. I sit then look at him. "Yeah, and how am I supposed to do that?" "Hmm… No clue. That's your problem," he shrugs, then goes back to his phone. He's right. I should find a way to get back at her. We all sit there on our phones. Some of the guys occasionally talk, but not very much. After scrolling for about forty minutes, I come across an ad "Want to get back at your ex?" it says. What the heck? It was just the text. There was nothing special about the ad, but the timing was crazy, I clicked it just to see what it was. It takes me to a website I don't recognize. That's weird this site doesn't have a name. I scroll down. There isn't very much to see. I find a button that says "Continue." So I click it. The page changes, and the screen goes dark. Suddenly, there's a loud radio static sound. I look around, but my friends didn't react to the noise. No way they didn't hear that. I look back at my phone. The screen had lit up. These weird-looking people were on the screen. They weren't fully visible, but they looked almost fake or wooden. I started to get a weird feeling, but I kept scrolling. There were options like "Embarrass her" and "Humble her," but one caught my eye: "Scare her to death." It wasn't as lit up as the rest of them. My finger lingered over the button before clicking it. The page changed again: "Enter your name." I put my name in and hit next. "Enter your ex's name." I do the same for hers. And click forward: "To continue with our services, please complete the required actions." what actions?. The page glitches: "You will know,"it says before the page crashes.
