Vlad turned around within Seraphina's arms. Her serene face was revealed as she looked up at him with her pink eyes, her chin resting on his chest and her lips carrying a warm smile.
"Why are you still here?" Vlad asked in a soft voice. He raised his hand to stroke her head but stopped midway as guilt overtook him.
"Of course, I was waiting for you," Seraphina answered, locking her hands around his waist at his back. Naturally, she noticed him avoiding eye contact. "What happened? Did the Vice Principal scold you?"
"Sera, I..." Vlad's words died in his throat the moment his eyes fell on her face. He realised he loved her too much to put her in any danger.
He closed his eyes. When he opened them, he formed a gentle smile. "What would you do if he really scolded me?"
He decided that her safety was more important, even if he had to hide the truth from her.
