Chapter 28: A Meeting with Evil God D, Somewhat Unpleasant
"Hum~ hum~ hummm..."
Shiro hummed a cheerful tune, waving her sickle-like front legs as she de-scaled the delicious Fire Wyrm.
"Wait... something's wrong!"
Suddenly, Shirazawa felt something approaching.
Magic Mind: [Information Mind, I sense spatial teleportation fluctuations. The speed of the spell construction is incredibly fast; I suspect it's that person.]
Information Mind: [Oh! I remember now. This Fire Wyrm has a name. So, this guy is a kin of Güliedistodiez?]
Body Mind: [Yare yare, we accidentally took out one of his subordinates. Is that going to be okay?]
Information Mind: [Who cares? We have D as backup. Don't panic.]
...
At the same moment Shirazawa sensed the spatial fluctuation, Shiro also noticed the anomaly. The next instant, a transparent spatial gate manifested in front of them, and a man wearing black armor stepped out.
The man had a pair of dragon horns on his forehead—clearly not an ordinary human. Shiro stared at him warily, her body instinctively inching closer to Shirazawa.
[Appraisal Failed!]
Looking at the man's overwhelming aura, her heart skipped a beat. An existence that couldn't be appraised... did that mean he was even stronger than Mother? Mother's name could at least be appraised, but this guy showed nothing. An existence more terrifying than Mother—just what kind of frightening power must he possess...
"Don't panic, it's fine." Shirazawa patted her shoulder, signaling her to stay calm.
Shiro nodded, trying her best to stay composed, but she still leaned into Shirazawa. Only he could give her a sliver of security in this alien world.
The man scanned the surroundings with unfocused eyes, eventually settling his gaze on the crimson remains of the Fire Wyrm. He showed no emotion. He had many such kin, and instances of them being killed by other monsters weren't rare; it wasn't enough to draw much attention.
However, these two small spiders were interesting. Three Ruler skills appearing on one person, and what on earth was this skill called
No need to guess... it was definitely that person's doing.
The man in black armor turned his head and spoke to them: "#*¥#@&...!*&¥(!#*&¥&!"
"Eh?"
"Shirazawa, what kind of bird language is this guy speaking? I can't understand a word," Shiro asked, tilting her head.
"Uh, I don't understand either. It sounds like Russian, he's even rolling his 'R's, but it's all gibberish to me..."
"Jiliguala! *#&&&...¥! *@*! &@!"
The man frowned slightly, seemingly embarrassed by the language barrier, and then... abruptly, a smartphone fell from the sky, landing right in the man's hand.
"Moshi moshi, this is Administrator D..."
A woman's soft, sweet voice came from the other end of the line. Shiro instantly turned to stone.
"A smartphone?!"
"Aha?!"
"Since when did this fantasy world get so advanced?!"
Complaints poured out of Shiro's mouth; she felt like her entire world-view had gone Spartan. It was unscientific! Truly unscientific!
"Spider-san, please wait a moment."
The woman on the phone gave a greeting and then began chatting with the black-armored man.
"Jili jili..."
"Gulu gulu..."
"Sigh~"
Only that final sigh was in a language the two could understand. The man tossed the phone to them, then opened a spatial portal again and turned to leave.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, you two. I've reached an agreement with him; he won't bother you anymore."
Shiro blankly caught the phone, staring at the spot where the man had vanished. For a long time, she couldn't find her voice. It was just... solved?!
"This..."
Shiro looked at the smartphone—an object that didn't belong in this world—with a head full of question marks. Who exactly was this person?
"I'm Administrator D, Spider-san."
"Hmm? I've heard that name before. Wait, can you read my thoughts?" Shiro asked, her eyes wide with shock.
Administrator D smiled. "Yes, but only for ease of communication. I don't usually do this."
"That's a violation of privacy!" Shiro protested.
"I don't like that phrasing. Think of it as 'spectating.' Like watching an anime where you can hear the protagonist's inner monologue."
"What's the difference? That's just being a stalker! Damn it!" Shiro nearly smashed the phone in frustration.
"Well, well, it's much the same. In any case, watching your daily life is quite entertaining to me," D said with a faint laugh.
Shiro rolled her eyes. "So you're the one who gave us the
"Correct. It's a reward for... your tireless efforts. A very nice skill, isn't it?"
"...Fine, it is useful. But what's your goal in doing this?"
"No goal. Simply entertainment... entertainment for me alone."
"Ha? Are you kidding? Entertainment?!"
"Yes. After all, I am the most wicked Evil God in the world. Work hard to amuse me. Perhaps at the end of the story, you'll find the answers you seek."
"Don't need them. I'm doing fine now."
"Is that so..."
There was a brief silence on the other end. Shirazawa felt something was off—was this person about to cause trouble?
"In that case, I wish Spider-san and your companion a pleasant time. I won't continue being a third wheel."
Administrator D was about to hang up when Shirazawa stopped her. "Wait, Wakaba!"
Shiro: "What's wrong?"
"...I wasn't calling you."
"Eh?"
Shirazawa stared silently at the phone, as if he could see the girl's face on the other end of the line. Administrator D was slightly surprised but didn't ask further.
"Do you have anything else?"
"I want to see you. Can you make that happen?"
D paused for a moment before speaking. "Sorry, no."
"That would expose my location. Unless you step into the divine realm and come see me yourself."
"Is there no other way?"
"There is, but why should I waste precious energy on you? Though I am curious how you know my identity, and since
Shirazawa was a bit defiant. "At least I'm the first one who..."
"Shut up!"
D's voice turned suddenly cold and sharp, scaring him into swallowing the rest of his words.
Shiro: "..."
What on earth are these two talking about? It sounds like Shirazawa knows D. I feel like an outsider here—who's the real third wheel?
"Shut up then, no need to be so aggressive." Shirazawa pouted and muttered under his breath.
"You..."
D's tone became somewhat suppressed. She seemed to want to say something, but in the end, she said nothing at all.
"Hmph, let's wait and see. I look forward to the moment you're on your knees begging me, hehehehe..."
The phone let out a sinister, eerie laugh. Shirazawa felt a chill and couldn't help but shiver.
"Impossible. Except for my parents, I won't kneel to anyone, not even the heavens and earth!"
[Smell that, its-- *when u want to say something but u realize it's not worth it*]
With that, Shirazawa hung up the phone. On the other end, the girl's frustrated voice rang out.
"That damn guy! He actually dared to hang up on me!"
"Ah—! Damnable human!!"
"Curse you—"
