Chapter 47: D's Conspiracy–The Transmigrator's Identity Exposed?
"Whew~ Back to life!"
On the beach, Shiro let out a long sigh. She stood up, stretching her aching joints.
"Okay! Shirazawa, what do we do next?" Shiro rubbed her chin, mulling over the massive problem that was Grandma Demon Lord. Those stats filled with 99,999s were simply not something they could handle right now.
"Don't worry too much. Ariel is actually quite gentle."
"Gentle...?" Shiro looked at Shirazawa with a bizarre expression. "Are you sure you haven't got the wrong person?" No matter how she looked at it, the word "gentle" didn't seem to fit a Demon Lord...
"Cough, sorry. I should say she's gentle toward her own people. For enemies... well, that's the other extreme." Shirazawa cleared his throat. "Anyway, it's not that dire. Ariel doesn't actually harbor that much malice toward us. We just need to talk it out."
Shiro was confused. "What do you mean?"
"Look, we only left the labyrinth because we wanted freedom. But Mother obviously didn't want us to leave; that must be for a specific purpose, right?"
"Mmh... I guess so," Shiro said, knitting her brows.
"In that case, we just need to ensure we don't harm Mother's or Grandma's interests. Then the problem is solved, right?"
"Hmm... that makes some sense."
"Exactly." Shirazawa spread his legs and shrugged. "As long as Grandma gives us our freedom, we'll withdraw the Parallel Minds and spare Mother's life. It's a win-win for both sides."
"You have a point." Shiro nodded in agreement. "So... how do we have a nice chat with a Demon Lord?"
"Uh... that part is a bit difficult." Shirazawa made a pained face. "First, we have to learn the Demon and Human languages. As long as we can communicate normally, I have a way to bury the hatchet."
"I see..."
"I've almost finished analyzing the Human language. By observing recent human behavior and vocalizations, then using Thought Acceleration to organize it, I can roughly understand a few words. But how do we get the Demon language? We're surrounded by human territory; there are no Demons to interact with." Shiro pondered.
"It's fine. The Demon Lord understands the Human language. Once the analysis is complete, everything will be—"
Magic Mind: (This is bad! Information, something happened!)
The voices of the Parallel Minds suddenly rang out in their heads. Shirazawa's heart sank with a premonition of dread. Through Mental Transmission, the events unfolding on the other side flooded his mind. After understanding the cause and effect, Shirazawa stood frozen, as if turned to stone.
Well, isn't this just great.
The two sides, who originally had no deep-seated blood feud, were now completely at each other's throats. The "never-ending" kind of feud. He could already feel the murderous Demon Lord hurtling toward them at high speed.
"..."
After a long silence, he took a deep breath to steady his mind and began to ponder a very serious matter.
Information: (Magic Mind, did Body Mind tell Body Mind (Shiro) about the Demon Lord's situation beforehand? Or warn her not to enter the Demon Lord's mental world?)
Magic: (Of course we did. How could we forget something that important?)
Information: (Then it's strange. Since the Parallel Minds knew the full plan, why did Body Mind do it anyway?)
Information: (Did she discover something? Or...)
Magic: (Are you saying... someone is interfering with the Parallel Minds? Even guiding them?)
Information: (Yes.)
Magic: (A terrifying theory... Whatever the reason, this time, we're in trouble...)
Magic: (It's not a huge problem if the Demon Lord merges with Shiro's consciousness, but what if she gains knowledge of the future plot from our minds? Then...)
Information: (I think I know who's pulling the strings.)
Magic: (...Sigh. That person just can't let things be, can she?)
Information: (It fits her character as an Evil God. I just didn't expect her to use this method to fish for information on me. I didn't see it coming.)
Magic: (It can't be helped. If even the Supreme God D can't see through a mortal's heart, if I were D, I'd also do everything possible to steal more detailed intel.)
Information: (I actually think... this might be a good thing. There are too many suspicious points about us crossing over into the world of 'Kumo Desu.' I'd never believe it if no one was pulling the strings. Perhaps we can use D's hand to investigate the truth of our transmigration, or let D scout the true face of the mastermind behind us.)
Magic: (Oho~ as expected of you, Information. Turning passive into proactive so quickly. Impressive.)
Information: (Now is not the time for sarcasm. What will happen next has exceeded my expectations. I actually hope D is strong enough to pierce through all these conspiracies.)
Magic: (The Supreme God of the Underworld... she should be strong enough, right?)
Information: (What if an Evil God C, B, or A pops up? Have you ever wondered why 'D' is called 'D'? A sequence rank? Strength ranking? Or just a code name?)
Magic: (This...)
Information: (There is always a higher being. Who can predict?)
Magic: (Aren't you thinking too far ahead? Maybe you're just overthinking it.)
Information: (I hope so... I hope Body Mind can think on this level, otherwise...)
...
Shirazawa ended the conversation with the Parallel Minds and turned to look at Shiro's serious face. Clearly, she had also received the messages and was deep in thought. A problem that could have been solved by sitting down and talking had now devolved into a fight to the death.
Shirazawa wasn't prepared to sacrifice Body Mind to forge an alliance with the Demon Lord. After all, he could have achieved his goals without that sacrifice. But the current Demon Lord wouldn't be in the mood to listen to their nonsense. When your soul is about to be eaten, you don't care what the other person has to say; you just kill them.
The plan was a mess.
Shiro looked up, her eyes resolute and cold. "Since it's come to this, let's fight."
"Starting a war with the Demon Lord... the success rate is almost zero."
Shiro's eyes flickered with determination. "You won't know if you don't try."
"Ariel isn't Araba. You can't beat her with just cleverness."
While he admired Shiro's resolve, Shirazawa knew that hot-bloodedness alone was useless. Ariel was the power ceiling of this world; they couldn't handle her yet. The only chance for victory lay with Body Mind. But more than Ariel, he was worried about D. He hoped the world wouldn't end prematurely because of this.
Looking into the girl's unyielding eyes, Shirazawa realized he couldn't talk her out of it.
"Sigh, fine. What do you plan to do?" Since persuasion was useless, he gave up. He couldn't stop this girl, so he could only let her run wild. Things probably couldn't get worse than they already were. He sighed and rubbed his temples.
"A two-pronged attack. I'll go kill Mother to level up, and you'll stall the Demon Lord's progress."
"..."
Hearing Shiro's simple and crude battle plan, Shirazawa fell into a long silence.
"...You really think highly of me."
