Chapter 120: The Vampire Progenitor Sophia
Summoned directly to the office, Merazophis listened to the mission Ariel laid out for him, a wave of hesitation washing over his face.
"Lady Ariel, given my current level of strength, am I truly qualified to handle an assignment like this?"
Looking at his anxious expression, Ariel simply offered a relaxed smile. "Don't worry. In the eyes of ordinary people, you've already become quite a remarkable monster."
She patted Merazophis on the shoulder, offering a word of encouragement. "Just don't compare yourself to the rest of us, or you'll only end up falling into pure despair."
"Uh..."
Though her words were meant to be encouraging, Merazophis couldn't help but feel a complete lack of warmth from them.
"Alright, stop wasting time and get moving," Ariel urged.
Merazophis took a deep breath and nodded firmly. He was well aware of the massive gap between himself and the core members. To protect his young mistress, he trained relentlessly every single day, pushing himself through the special training regimen to grow stronger. He was working even harder than before, desperately trying to keep pace with Sophia's rapid growth.
Yet, the reality was brutal; the distance between him and the young mistress was only widening, leaving him feeling completely powerless at times.
What made it even more absurd was that Sophia was currently only Level 1, yet her total energy levels were already more than double or triple his own. It was a terrifying, almost untouchable gap.
Even so, he refused to give up. As long as he kept pushing himself, even if he couldn't close the distance, he would at least ensure he didn't become a burden. This mission was the perfect opportunity to test the results of his hard work. He refused to let down the young mistress's expectations.
With that goal anchoring his resolve, Merazophis wasted no more time. He mounted one of his two Earth Wyrms and set off.
Originally, these were just the lowest-tier Earth Wyrms Ariel had purchased simply to pull carriages. However, through Merazophis's patient training, they had developed impressive strength. One was growing along a path that mirrored a humanoid bipedal dinosaur, fully capable of wielding weapons in combat. The other served as his primary mount, having learned Earth Magic alongside various utility skills.
The trio began their journey toward the border, making smooth progress along the way.
Meanwhile, Major General Agnar received his orders to dispatch a covert detachment to safeguard the teacher. The exact second he heard the command, Agnar knew his secret dealings with the elf faction had been fully uncovered by the Demon King.
However, since he was completely in the dark regarding the true nature of the elves, he didn't think too deeply about it. Treating it as a quiet warning from the Demon King, he simply resolved to execute the order exactly as instructed.
That night.
Taking advantage of Shiro's absence, Sophia openly marched straight into the bedroom.
Hopping onto the bed, she fixed a fierce, intense gaze onto the fast-asleep Shirazawa.
"Hehehe..."
Sophia let out a strange, muffled laugh. Under the pale glow of the moonlight, her crimson eyes looked exceptionally eerie. She slowly extended her pink tongue, licking her lips with an expression of pure anticipation.
Gently leaning over him, she brushed aside the collar of his shirt to expose his neck, tracking him with a greedy, excited gaze.
*The taste of his blood should be absolutely wonderful...*
As a Vampire Progenitor, Sophia was completely immune to the negative side effects that typically plagued vampires. That included the baseline urge to feed. While she didn't technically need to consume blood to maintain her strength or level up like Merazophis, it didn't mean she didn't crave the flavor. It was just that the adults in the house strictly forbade her from doing it.
She already possessed a textbook yandere disposition; if she ended up developing a full-blown addiction to drinking blood, it would be an absolute nightmare to manage.
But tonight was completely different.
Everyone else was gone, leaving only Shirazawa–whose physical constitution was hilariously weak–completely vulnerable. It was an absolute golden opportunity.
*The blood of a god should taste incredibly sweet...*
Her vampire fangs slowly extended. She first traced the porcelain-white veins along Shirazawa's neck with her tongue, then bit down firmly, sucking with pure hunger. The crimson liquid flowed past her lips and down into her stomach.
Sophia closed her eyes, letting out a blissful, intoxicated sigh.
"Mgh~"
A satisfied hum escaped her throat as she sat atop Shirazawa's chest, wrapping her arms tightly around him. The sensation made her crave even more, making her want to bury her entire face against his neck.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Out of nowhere, a male voice rang out right beside her ear.
The sudden sound caused Sophia to jump, a violent shiver running down her spine. She snapped her head up instantly.
Shirazawa, who had been fast asleep just a second ago, had opened his eyes and was staring up at her with a thoroughly bewildered expression.
"How are you awake?!" She quickly licked away the residual blood from the corner of her mouth, her face filled with genuine surprise.
Shirazawa rubbed the space between his brows, feeling a wave of deep exhaustion and weakness spreading through his body. He had just been trapped in a terrible nightmare about a giant mosquito draining his blood, which was what had shaken him awake in the first place.
Yet, the moment he opened his eyes, he found Sophia pinned to his chest, staring down at him with an almost obsessed look in her eyes. And there was a smear of fresh blood on her lips...
His immediate thought was: *Wow, what a beautiful mosquito.*
Wait, no! This brat was actively draining his blood!
A spike of annoyance hit Shirazawa, and he prepared to give her a stern lecture. However, before he could say a word, Sophia pinned his hands down firmly against the mattress and leaned right back down toward his neck.
"Mgh~"
An indescribable, tingling sting instantly shot through his entire body, causing Shirazawa to freeze up completely, losing all urge to resist. A sea of question marks flooded his mind.
This feeling... was shockingly intoxicating.
During the feeding process, a vampire's venom transmits a wave of intense pleasure to the prey, causing them to lose themselves in the sensation until they entirely abandon any urge to fight back. Shirazawa had never encountered anything like this before. Instead of experiencing any discomfort, the bizarre sensation actually triggered a faint trace of pure euphoria. It left him completely astonished.
"Mgh~ This feels amazing." Sophia narrowed her eyes, letting out a satisfied moan. "From now on, you're officially my personal blood bag!"
With that, she extended her tongue, leaning in to kiss him with a look of insatiable hunger.
By this point, Shirazawa finally managed to regain his senses. Grabbing her by the arms, he forcefully pushed her away from his chest. However, due to the rapid blood loss, his vision suddenly swam, and he blacked out completely.
*This brat... just how much... did she drink...*
Right before he lost consciousness, he caught a glimpse of a deeply mischievous glint flashing across Sophia's eyes.
The following morning, the sunlight filtered into the room.
"Ugh!"
Shirazawa painfully pushed himself up into a sitting position, his limbs feeling completely heavy and drained of strength. Sophia was resting peacefully within his embrace, a satisfied smile gracing her face as if she were in the middle of a wonderful dream.
However, he was absolutely certain that after he had fainted last night, she had definitely snuck back in for a few more helpings.
He cast a healing spell on himself, cleanly erasing the half-dozen bite marks and blemishes decorating his neck. Then, he cast a few purification spells to clear away his physical fatigue.
With that, he felt a sudden surge of vitality return to his body.
Unfortunately, that recovered state proved to be incredibly short-lived. The distinct symptoms of severe anemia rapidly washed over him once again. Clearly, a pure lack of blood volume wasn't something a purification spell could magically fix.
He collapsed back onto the mattress with a tired sigh, silently praying that his heart would hurry up and manufacture a fresh supply of blood to restore his energy.
"Hehehe, I think I catch the scent of a fresh, delicious aroma. It's making me incredibly hungry all over again."
A sinister, quiet laugh suddenly echoed beside him.
Shirazawa's pupils dilated instantly. "You'd better know when to stop!"
"Tehehe~"
Sophia let out a mischievous giggle, her expression dripping with playful malice. "Not a chance."
With that, she lunged straight back over him, baring her fangs as she aimed directly for his neck.
"Mgh~"
