Chapter 2 - wake up

Amethyst woke up the next mornthing to Ruby's soft, sleeping yet some how familiar nudge. (Well…guess I should just get up now.) Amethyst thought groggily as he got out of bed. Tai came into the room to wake up the children. "Rise and shine kids. Breakfast is ready!" Tai said as he opened the door. Amethyst turned to look back at the bed to awake up Ruby, by found an empty bed. He blinked. (Huh? Where did she-?!) Amethyst quickly looked around and saw the faint glimpse of Ruby rushing for the kitchen, he blinked once or twice before chucking. "You can learn a thing or two about someone." He muttered to himself.

Couple minutes went by before him and Yang came down stairs for breakfast. Amethyst, however, went to bathroom to check on something. Looking at the mirror he stared at his reflection with wonder. (I know the meaning of love and passion, but I haven't quite understood it yet. It will take time. I may love them, but do I care for them? Am I willing to take care of them when the time that comes or protect them? Am I passionate enough to do things for them out of goodness of my heart? If not…then what am I?) These illogical statements worried him. (Am I a shattered moon. Should I return to just being a servent to follows orders, never to question their masters will?)

"Amethyst? You in there?" Yang asked curiously snapping him out of his pocket dimension. He shook his head violently. (No, I will not return back to my old ways. Those days are over.) Amethyst told himself with hope. "I'm coming. Hold on." He replied quickly as he stared at himself once more in the mirror. (Black hair with red tips and….huh? Wait…no. Why do I have black eyes?) Suddenly a flash of a figure appeared in the mirror. A golden, crystalline face with no eyes, a wide sinister grin and a dark purple body. Amethyst dashed out of the bathroom and slammed the door, heaving laborious breaths as sweet dripped down his face. Summer ran over and so did Tai. "Amethyst? What's wrong?" She ask quickly, voice full of concern. Amethyst turned to look at his parents. For a brief moment he saw images that flashed. A field of bodies, chaos, craters and creatures that plagued the world, they tore at flesh and did unspeakable things. War was common and heinous actions was inevitable for survive. Amethyst tried to shake his head free of them, used the hands to purge those images away. He ran outside, his parents calling out to him. "Why? Why now! Why do you still haunt me! Still torment me!! I'm trying!" Amethyst screamed loudly as he came out to the porch and onto the ground, falling to his knees. He lurched forward, stomach aching as something was crawling up the hatch. "Amethyst! Amethyst! Tai get a docter!" Summer order as she came to her son's side, kneeling on one leg. "Amethyst? Tell me what is wrong and mommy can help." She asked, her tone worrisome but serious. Amethyst breathed in a out in hard contrasts that it hurt. Soon that crawling sensation made its way up his throat, out of his mouth and onto the ground. (D-damnit.) He thought as tears of pain washed over him as he clamped his hands over his mouth, trying not to gag. "Shhh, it's okay. Momma's here to help. Just calm down and steady your breathing. Ruby and Yang were watching from the door way, worry etched into their faces like Play-Doh.

"His body is fine. Other than the abnormal physique he has and strange symbols on his body, that's all their really is to it. It may be that whatever that symbol is caused his body to have such a reaction. Like muscle tearing and severe pain to the point his body couldn't process it all in one go, so it released in the only it could." The docter said looking at Summer, then glancing to Tai. "Just make sure he rests for a few days and he'll be fine. Goodbye Mr and Mrs. Rose." The docter said as he walked out of the house.

"What the hell happened?" Tai asked incredulously looking at Summer. Summer looked at her husband with the same question and really all she could do was shrug. "I don't know, but it makes me worry if he's doing to much on his own when we're not looking." She said softly, he gave a ocean of masked panic. Tai brought her in and held her close. "It's gonna be okay. He'll be fine." He muttered into her ear. Summer tightened her grip around Tai in comfort. "I hope so."

"BANZAI!" The call rang throughout the battle field as a samurai raised his katana and sprinted forward towards the oncoming army before him. Men shouted and roar as canons fired, men behind line fired Matchlocks as samurai charged farward with an array of weapons: Katana, Wakizashi, Yumi, Yari, Kusarigama and Naginata. These were the weapons that Amethyst saw when he opened his eyes. (Huh?" He thought. "Where am I?" He said aloud. He noticed he was standing before a charging army, a samurai army along with dragons, elves, dwarves, dark elves, goblins, Hobgoblins, the whole world was against. Amethyst…wait that wasn't his name. "It was…Edoshira." Edoshira voiced like it was something new. He looked down at his hands, purple they were with golden wrists. Black legs and feet and a dark purple body with a golden, crystalline face and no face. Just a wide grin spread across his cheeks. He started running faster and faster that soon become like the movement of light. He decimated the army, plunging his hands into bodies of warriors, men or women. Screams and cries rang out while blood poured out from the battlefield. Guts splattered across torn flesh and bones as teeth dug into skin. Magic flared, skeletons rose, sprits roamed, golems crushed, people were controled and soon chaos erupted.

Then all was over, a pile of bodies that stretched for billions of miles sat a smiling purple lizard. No one could count of amount of people that died that day, no one. He sat with swords protruding while he stared amusing, profusely bleeding while his masters misleading. Did he wonder his wonder the spear that struck the mark, or the fleeting thought that plagued his heart. Edoshira looked at his body, bloodied and covered in weapons. Spears, swords, axes, knife's, any weapon you can think of. They were there, gleaming and burning with their hatred. (For what reason did I have for slaughtering billions. I had none, I was just following orders. I lived no purpose, no direction and no desire. I just followed and never question.) He blinked once more, finding himself staring at his past appearance.

"Let's change for the better this time and let go of the past!" Amethyst said giving a thumbs up at his past self. Edoshira's eyes opened wide, then lowered and smiled for first time in his life. "Yea, let's do that." Edo agreeed as he also gave a slow thumbs up.

Amethyst woke up again to Ruby and Yang sleeping at his bed side waiting for him to wake up. (I must have worried them sick.) He thought calmly, rising up slowly from his bed. He noticed that the mark on his chest was still there and was glowing on each letter. (That's perfect. I should be able to at least pick up at least 900lbs no problem.) Amethyst added mildly. Ruby started to stir and when she saw Amethyst was awake she rang her arms around him like a snake. "Brother! Your awake! I was so worried!" Ruby exclaimed softly. Amethyst hugged his sister back tightly. "I'm sorry, sis. I didn't mean to make you sorry like that. I won't do it again." He said softly, gently patting her head. Ruby look at her brother in the eyes and extended her pinky. "Promise?" She asked, her gesture begging. Amethyst chuckled and took the pinky with his. "Promise." With that they sealed the promise.

Three children came down stairs and entered the living room. Summer was making dinner while Tai, well he was on the couch sleeping. "Amethyst? You feeling okay?" Summer asked as he peeked into the kitchen. "Yea, I'm feeling okay. I just didn't feel good at hat moment." He replied meekly. Summer nodded as she chopped up some onions. "Just…next time let us know if your not feeling okay, alright?" She asked turning to look at him. Amethyst nodded slowly and shuffled his feet. "Yes mom. I understand."

"And the huntsmen swiftly defeated the Grimm, saving his family and ending the siege of the night." Summer said as she closed the book, she could hear the soft breathing of Ruby as she slowly stood up. "Sleep tight my beautiful children." She muttered as she walked out of the room.

Tai was outside the room waiting, his face etch with a dual expression of concern yet confidence. "Going out on another mission this late at night?" He asked with a soft smile, knowing he couldn't talk her out of it. Summer grinned and came closer. "Don't worry, I'll be back before anyone of you know it! I'm a super mom, plus I need to be there for them and Amethyst who's dealing with mental troubles. I want to be there to help him get through them." She declared willfully. Tai chuckled and hugged her closely. "Good luck, come home safely." He whispered. "I will." She promised softy.

Summer quietly walked down the stairs and was about to open the door before hearing a voice behind her. "If you leave that door… will you come back?" Amethyst asked calmly. Sumer whipped around to look at him. "Amethyst? You should be asleep?" She said trying to avoid the question. Amethyst shook his head, giving a dead smile. "That won't work on me mom. Is your mission dangerous, I'm assuming it is. It wouldn't make sense if it wasn't." He wisely remarked. Summer was at a lost of words but couldn't help but smack herself mentally. She should have seen this coming. "Unfortunately….yes. It is. However, mommy is strong and powerful. Able to defeat any obstacle and foe. I'll be there for all of you, so don't worry. I'll be fine." Summer said kneeling down to eye level with Amethyst. (That's a lie. To many wars that I've seen and been in involved with death and violence. Nobody returns from missions. It's disgusting. I hate this feeling. Is this…worry?) "I'm…worried, mom. I don't want you leave again. Cause I can't image a world without your smile and words." He whispered softly, staring into his mothers eyes. Summer took her son's hands and held them tight. "My words and smile are always here even if I'm not. They are in here." She pressed his hand onto his heart, feeling the thumping tick. "I see. Then at least promise me that you'll return, in return I'll promise to try and keep this family safe." Amethyst muttered solemnly. His eyes staring off elsewhere, anything but his mothers eyes. "I promise to return. You have your father to protect you and your sisters." Summer smiled and kissed him on the cheek before standing up and leaving the house.

Amethyst watched his mother walk out the door and out into the snowy forest. (A crow? How strange. Didn't think they were out here this late at night. Must be a transformation technique or magical illusion spell.) He stared out the window, dark eyes glistening with a faint hue of white. (No. Not worth it. If need I'll search for her myself.) He told himself as he climbed up the stairs and into the bedroom where Ruby and Yang were sleeping. (Farewell, mother. Nice knowing you while it lasted. I shall forever…remember you…in heart. Like you told me too.)
