Thalia froze at his question, her breath catching slightly as the words settled, because no matter how many times she tried to go over it in her mind, there was still nothing she could hold on to, nothing she could clearly remember from that moment.
How was she supposed to answer him… when she didn't even know the answer herself?
Biting her lower lip, she lowered her gaze, slightly intimidated by William's stare.
"I… I don't have an answer to that myself, Mr. Carter," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
The tension in the room grew heavier as silence fell once again.

"Can the two of you give us a moment?" he said calmly. "I need to speak to her… alone."
Tiara stepped forward immediately, but Arthur reached out and caught her arm.
"He's not going to do anything to Lia," he murmured under his breath.
