______________
massive outcry of rage burst out from her gathered clan members in the stands, and Hanabi winced.
Well, the members of the main branch at least.
"Such insolence!" there was a snarl of rage behind her, and her usually unflappable grandfather glared bloody murder, his hands clenched into the arms of the seat he was in so hard, they shattered, turning into splintered wood as he surged to his feet, "I will not stand for this!"
'Then why did you stand?' Hanabi thought sarcastically, before blinking and realising what she did, 'Aniki is really rubbing off on me too much.'
She cast a glance at her father, whom, to her surprise, was completely impassive still. As if what Daiki just did wasn't a bother at all. As if he didn't just completely spit in the face of their clan with a massive cocky smile on his face that said all that needed to be said, 'What are you gonna do about it?'
Just like he said to cousin Neji. Who could stop him?
"Enough father," her own father cast a glance back at him, before looking at the assembled members of their clan who'd stood to their feet the same as her grandfather. Beyond them, the viewing stands dedicated to nobility, was filled with a tense silence, none of them dared to speak, "And the rest of you, have some self control. This is not the place to shout and complain like children having a tantrum, you are an embarrassment to the name Hyuuga."
"But Hiashi-sama!" one of her clan members protested, dressed in the ensemble of a jonin, "He-"
"He got rid of Neji's seal, yes, I saw," her father cut him off, "What of it? Daiki Yurei has made his stance clear. He declared he shall be the next Hokage, and from what I saw in that fight down there, he has the chance. I can tell you now, he is stronger than me. The Hyuuga have always been loyal to the Leaf Village and the Hokage. If it does happen, and If the Hokage believes the Cage Bird Seal has to be abolished, then it shall. Or are you saying the Hyuuga should abandon the Leaf?"
Her clan members still looked angry, but they had the grade at least to look ashamed at letting their emotions get the better of them. One by one they slinked into their seats, all except her grandfather whom stared at her father from behind with narrowed eyes.
Her father didn't even look back at him, "That includes you too father," he said, "There is nothing we can do about this other than re-apply the seal, which is a waste. Neji is wasted in the Branch family, he has inherited the thickest Hyuuga blood I have seen in my life. Unless you mean to try and seek retribution on the boy, that is?"
Her grandfather ground his teeth, but gave a terse nod, and without saying anything, he sat down. But he clearly wasn't happy about it.
As he did, her father turned to look at her, and his lips twitched ever so slightly, the smallest semblance of a smile showing, "It seems daughter, that your teacher can indeed back up his boasts."
Despite being around her clan and other nobles, where she was expected to be the height of propriety, Hanabi couldn't help but let her chest puff out and pride as she grinned back, "You have seen nothing yet father, aniki held back, he's far more powerful than you can imagine."
"Is that so?" her father hummed, turning his attention back to the arena down below, peering down at her aniki thoughtfully.

'Daiki-kun, really?' Hiruzen hid a wince. The reception of Daiki's victory, and what he proceeded to do, in full view of not only normal villagers, but perhaps members of every clan in the village, the nobility of their own capital and even foreign dignitaries was split down the middle.
His sheer strength, the brightness of his character, and his bold declaration swept up many in his sheer energy, cheering him on, cat calling, whistling, chanting his name.
It was mostly those not from clans or those lacking any noble ties cheering him on. Where as, there was clear apprehension, even outrage at the boys sheer arrogance and his opposing of the nobility. His action after all, were loud, proud and defiant, and told every clan that he did not care about their lineage, their rank, their power or their customs. That, when he became Hokage, his word would be law and if he did not like how clans treated their people or operated, he would do away with it. He would not compromise, and he would smother them with his sheer strength.
There was no diplomacy, there was no democracy, and there was no arguing against his decision. It was quite tyrannical to be honest.
'But perhaps, that is what is needed now.' Hiruzen thought. He was much too old, had lost too much strength and vigour to be able to push such things now. He could only hold the line until a bright figure appeared that could carry the village on their shoulders
As it was, he could not complain. He had chosen Daiki, and put his faith in the boy, he wouldn't start second guessing him now, not after he'd already proved his capability and his sheer loyalty to the leaf.
If that was the Hokage he chose to be, then Hiruzen would simply have to accept it and support him, 'Perhaps I should push up the time table to his ascension to Hokage then?' he thought. His role, had clearly come to an end, his parts had been played, and it was time to exit the stage, for good this time.
A chuckle drew his attention to the Kazekage, "Quite the young shinobi you have down there," Rasa mused, "Loud and proud, as expected of the Leaf, and to so readily challenge the Hyuuga clan and mock the nobility, he does not lack in bravery. Would it be so my own sons were so…full of ability."
Hiruzen hid a frown in the lapels of the hokage hat. Something was off. He could not tell what, but, while the words and mannerisms were what he'd come to expect of Rasa, there was something different he could not put his finger on.
He smothered the frown so fast most Jonin would have missed it, "Daiki-kun is a most promising young man, one I've had my eye on for quite a while." he gave the man a smile.
"I'd expect so, I've heard nothing but incredible things about the boy," Rasa cast eyes full of an emotion he could not quite place down at Daiki who stood in the middle of the stadium, one fist held high, smirk on his face as he soaked in the cheers and jeers, "I heard a rumour even, he did battle with the legendary Orochimaru, quite the feat for one so young."
There it was again. There was an emphasis on Orochimaru's name. Why would Rasa care at all for Orochimaru? "Yes, it was indeed quite impressive, especially considering Daiki-kun is far stronger now," Hiruzen simply replied, and let his smile grow a tad as he felt pride surge in his chest, the pride of a teacher, it had been so long since he'd gotten the chance to feel such a thing, it made him so nostalgic. And he decided, now would be a good lay more groundwork to help Daiki, "I can say proudly, that if it came to a true fight between them now, Daiki-kun would surely defeated my wayward student. There is a reason after all, I have chosen him to be the next Hokage."
