I sat in the corner of the elevator as it went down. The elevator smelled strange. It had a familiar smell, but I couldn't put my finger on it. The smell was on the angel too. Something was wrong when I was slowly reaching the bottom floor. There wasn't any noise coming from the corridor. No shuffling. No talking. No chanting. Soon, the elevator stopped, and the doors now slower than ever creaked open. My jaw dropped, and it felt like tears were going to burst out of my eyes at any second. The familiar smell was the disgusting and metallic scent of blood. Human blood and soul remains were scattered all across the corridor. I screamed and quickly ran out of the building.
I rushed to the south side, and quickly opened the doors. A foul stench made it unbearable to even step inside. I plugged my nose and began walking up the stairs, but they were covered with blood. I quickly shook my head and kept walking up the stairs. I then felt my determination get zapped from my body. Why was I so worried for him? He's the one who put me here to work for all of eternity. He opened up to me when he was my slave on my home planet due to a "game" he was playing with his siblings. I took advantage of that... and messed with him a little bit when I had him in my bed. He managed to "kill himself", and punished me like this. I didn't deserve this. I was about to walk back down the stairs, but a second thought popped into my head.
It would be... frightening to go back out there with that angel guy. Who knows what else he's done here? I shook my head and went back to rushing up the stairs. I reached my master's door, and I noticed that the hinges and the door knob were busted. I opened the door, and I saw my master's body sprawled on the ground, surrounded and covered in blood. I walked over to him, and I heard him wheezing with exhaustion. I kneeled down, and he slowly sat up and looked at me with a frustrated face. It slowly turned into a small smile, and he said, "I'm sorry that you have to see me like this... it's quite horrible, no?" I just stared at him without a clear thought in my mind.
He murmured, "You must still be angry with me, right? Does... my tattered body make you happy?" I didn't know how to answer that question. It was like he expected me to say yes. I took a deep breath, and said, "No, it doesn't. It's never great to see someone so wounded." He sighed and scanned my body. "He didn't attack you, did he? The angel? You saw him, right?" "He's in your father's room. And no, he didn't hurt me in any way." My master sighed in relief, and said, "I'm glad you're not hurt. But you have to get to the other side of the planet before he decides to kill you off."
I frowned and stood up. "Why is he doing this? Better yet, why is he even here?" My master said, "He didn't say. He just barged into my room and we started fighting." He weakly stood up, and put his hand on my shoulder. "Edric... if you need anything at all, call my name. I know you don't want to... but please. You can trust me." He let go of my shoulder, and sat back down on the floor. "My mission for you today... is to get the survivors from the other sides of the mansion... and lead them to the other side of the world. The mortals and yokai can't teleport away from here... so you have to help them. Please."
I briefly nodded, and rushed out of his room. I ran down the stairs, but slipped on a pool of blood and crashed into the wall. I immediately stood up and kept rushing down the stairs. I had to save the others from that monster. No blood or lives need to be taken from this peaceful place. Not now, not ever. I finally made it out of the south side, and rushed into the east. I swung the doors open to see a familiar sight. There wasn't human blood, but rather blood from other entities. I walked around and carefully inspected the bodies on the ground. I flinched when I heard a loud cry come from a separate room in the corridor. I rushed into the room to see Wish's lover patching a wound on a small child.
I walked up to them, and the guy said, "Oh... it's just you." I looked at the girl and noticed her large fangs and her red eyes. "Why is a human like you helping a vampire?" I bluntly asked. He just looked at me and said, "This human's name is Toshio. And this girl needed help. I'm just doing what any normal person would do." I said, "You're definitely not normal. You haven't fallen under your girlfriend's charm, and you're helping a monster most humans would run away from." He frowned, "What's your problem, man? Shouldn't you be following Qu-" "Don't say his name!" I quickly interrupted him before he even uttered those words.
Toshio rolled his eyes and continued bandaging the girl's arm. I said, "My mission is to help any survivors. Shouldn't you be with Wish?" He said, "She's healing herself. She got attacked by the angel. She told me to get out, but I found this little one next to her mother." He tightened the bandage, and the girl winced. He backed away from her and said, "There you go. Now I want you to follow this guy until you get to a safe place, okay?" The girl's eyes started welling up, and she said, "But he's scary..." Toshio laughed and said, "He can't hurt a big even if he wanted to. You'll be safe with him." She slowly nodded and walked up to me. I glared at her and asked, "How am I scarier than someone who owns a mafia?"
She said, "You're just mean." Toshio chucked and said, "I'll leave you to it. I have to-" I grabbed his arm and said, "You're coming with me. Wish said she wanted you safe, didn't she?" He was silent for a moment before saying, "Fine. I'll help with other stragglers too." "Do whatever you want." He picked up the vampire girl bridal-style, and we walked back into the corridor. The girl buried her face into Toshio's shirt, and I asked, "Are there any people on the other floors?" Toshio said, "There isn't. Everybody was on the ground floor when the angel started killing people." I nodded and walked out of the building.
We walked to the west side of the building, and the door was torn open. In the middle of the corridor was a large pool filled with red water, and Poth sitting in the middle of it surrounded by other merfolk and wounded followers. We walked in, and Poth said, "So you're alive. You certainly were lying when you told me that there wasn't an angel on the premises." I was about to say something, but Poth said, "Never mind that. Get these people out of here while I heal up. They're the last survivors here." I silently nodded. When the merfolk got out of the pool, their fins turned into legs. They and the other followers walked out of the building with Toshio and I.
As we were walking away from the building, Toshio asked, "Were there not any survivors on the north side?" I shook my head and he said, "Then I can ask you this. Why did you lie about the angel being here?" I lowered my head and whispered, "I don't know... I just couldn't say yes." He silently walked beside me before saying, "I believe you. He must have some kind of spell or something allowing him to keep his presence concealed. But it's strange... why do you think he attacked us?" I glanced up at him and said, "I have no idea. But he was definitely looking for Kill." There was suddenly a large gust of wind coming from seemingly all directions.
I stopped walking. I had a strong feeling that I had to go back. Toshio stopped walking and looked back at me with wide, fearful eyes. Someone grabbed my shoulders, and whispered in my ear. "Hello, my sweet bait." I was about to turn around, but he grabbed my head. Toshio shouted, "Edric! You need to call... him!" I felt my body being dragged away as Toshio stood still with the vampire girl in his arms staring right at me. She slowly raised her hand towards me, and it felt like my brain was about to explode. I heard a loud voice shout "move!" in my head. I struggled in the angel's grasp, but my mind and body immediately went numb again. The vampire girl passed out, and Toshio shouted, "Say his name! Do it!"
My eyes started to hurt as my vision grew blurrier with each passing second. I had to. I needed to say it. I opened my mouth, but my mouth was covered by a large hand. It was over. I shut my eyes as the pain became unbearable, and stopped being stiff. "Good boy..." he whispered. I began to feel nauseous. Suddenly, everything just stopped. I opened my eyes, and quickly looked behind me to see a giant dragon hand piercing through the angel's chest. Behind the angel was my master with furious eyes, horns coming out of his head and a large dragon tail swaying behind him. He looked at me and shouted, "Edric! Get out of here! He's after you!"
Everyone started running. Except for me. "Why did you save me...?" Master just smiled and said, "It's not like I want you to die or anything. Life is more important than you think. It keeps... the wonder of the existence of everything strong." The angel began stirring, and he said, "Quickly now. Before he wakes back up." I nod and rush after the crowd. I looked behind me, and smiled softly.
"Thank you... master."
