Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Jackson Whittemore became a werewolf during lacrosse practice.

Because Beacon Hills refused to allow normal sporting events.

The transformation started after another Alpha attack near the school.

Jackson got caught protecting Lydia.

Which shocked literally everyone.

Including Jackson.

The Alpha slashed across his chest before escaping into the preserve.

At first Jackson acted normal.

Well.

Jackson-normal.

Which still meant aggressively insulting people.

Then his senses started changing.

His hearing sharpened.

His eyes flashed gold during chemistry.

And he accidentally shattered a sink after someone called him "emotionally repressed."

Scott recognized the symptoms immediately.

"Oh my God."

Jackson looked annoyed.

"What?"

"You got bit."

Silence.

Jackson blinked once.

"…Excuse me?"

"You're becoming a werewolf."

Jackson laughed.

Then stopped laughing when claws erupted from his fingers.

"…Oh no."

Stiles looked delighted.

"YES. SUFFER LIKE THE REST OF US."

Lydia pinched the bridge of her nose.

"I hate this town."

The first transformation happened that night.

Violently.

Jackson nearly tore apart his own room during the shift.

Noah arrived with tranquilizers.

Again.

Derek looked deeply tired.

Again.

Scott panicked.

Again.

And Drake?

Drake casually walked into Jackson's room while the newly-shifting wolf snarled wildly.

Jackson lunged immediately.

Big mistake.

Drake caught him effortlessly.

One hand against Jackson's forehead.

Instant calm.

The transformation stabilized immediately.

Jackson blinked in confusion.

"…How did you do that?"

Drake shrugged.

"Authority issues."

"That explained nothing."

Peter leaned against the doorway smirking.

"Get used to that feeling."

Jackson looked around the room.

Then slowly realized every supernatural person in Beacon Hills was staring at him supportively.

Scott smiled awkwardly.

Isaac waved slightly.

Derek looked vaguely approving.

Even Peter offered a nod.

Jackson looked deeply uncomfortable.

"…Why are you all being nice to me?"

Silence.

Then Stiles spoke carefully.

"…Because you're pack."

Jackson froze.

That hit harder than expected.

Drake noticed instantly.

Good.

The pack was growing.

Stronger.

Closer.

Exactly what Beacon Hills would soon need.

Because far away—

Five pairs of glowing Alpha eyes watched the town from the darkness.

The Alpha Pack arrived during a thunderstorm.

Of course they did.

Beacon Hills practically demanded dramatic weather at this point.

The preserve went silent first.

Then every supernatural creature in town felt it simultaneously.

Pressure.

Violence.

Predators.

Five Alphas entering the territory at once.

Scott dropped his drink instantly.

Isaac transformed halfway.

Jackson nearly panicked.

Derek stood immediately.

Peter's smile vanished.

And Drake—

Drake slowly looked toward the preserve.

Interested.

The front door opened moments later.

A man entered calmly.

Tall.

Perfectly composed.

Dark glasses hiding blind eyes.

Power rolled off him effortlessly.

Behind him stood Kali.

Ennis.

And the twins.

The Alpha Pack.

Deucalion smiled softly.

"Beacon Hills."

His blind eyes tilted toward Drake instantly.

"…Interesting."

Every instinct in the room screamed danger.

Except Drake's.

Drake just looked mildly curious.

Scott stepped protectively forward anyway.

Badly outclassed.

Still brave.

Deucalion noticed immediately.

"There he is."

Scott frowned.

"…What?"

"The True Alpha."

Silence hit the room.

Scott blinked.

"I'm the what now?"

Peter looked delighted.

"Oh this is getting entertaining."

Deucalion slowly walked further inside.

No fear.

No hesitation.

Like he already owned the room.

"We came for two things," Deucalion said calmly.

"Scott McCall."

Then his head tilted slightly toward Drake.

"And the thing pretending to be mortal."

The atmosphere changed instantly.

Drake's eyes darkened.

Derek's claws extended immediately.

Kali smirked.

"Oh good. Tension."

Deucalion raised one hand slightly.

"No violence tonight."

Scott looked suspicious.

"…Why not?"

Deucalion smiled.

"Because this isn't a war yet."

Then he leaned slightly toward Scott.

"But it will be."

And just before leaving—

Deucalion stopped beside Drake.

For one brief second the blind Alpha's smile faded.

"…I've heard stories about you."

Drake's voice became very quiet.

"Then you should've stayed away."

For the first time in decades—

Deucalion hesitated.

The Alpha Pack Arc began with fear.

Not from Beacon Hills.

From the Alphas themselves.

Because Deucalion realized something deeply unsettling after meeting Drake.

The stories were true.

The Crimson Hound existed.

And it had chosen a pack.

Still—

Deucalion remained Deucalion.

Manipulative.

Patient.

Brilliant.

His strategy shifted immediately.

If Scott became a True Alpha under Drake's protection—

The balance of supernatural power could change permanently.

So the Alpha Pack targeted the weakest links first.

Isaac got ambushed near the hospital.

Jackson nearly died protecting Lydia.

The twins infiltrated Beacon Hills High.

And Kali made Derek's life a living nightmare.

Meanwhile Jennifer Blake arrived.

Quietly.

Watching from the background.

The Darach entered the game.

Bodies began appearing across Beacon Hills again.

Ritual sacrifices.

Druid symbols.

Dark magic.

Even Drake struggled tracing the killer.

Which worried everyone.

The Alpha Pack pushed constantly.

Trying to force Scott into killing.

Trying to break Derek mentally.

Trying to destabilize the pack before it fully matured.

But they kept failing for one simple reason.

Drake.

Ennis attacked Isaac and Boyd?

Drake put him through three buildings.

Kali tried threatening Lydia?

Drake stared at her hard enough to crack concrete.

The twins attempted manipulating Jackson?

Jackson laughed and called Drake.

Even Deucalion started avoiding direct confrontations.

Because every time Drake appeared—

The Alphas felt it.

That impossible ancient pressure beneath reality.

Like standing near a sleeping god.

And worst of all?

Drake kept getting stronger.

The Nemeton continued awakening him slowly.

Memories returning piece by piece.

Power increasing every week.

Reality bending more frequently around him.

Death visiting more often.

The pack noticed it too.

Scott especially.

One night he finally asked the question everyone feared.

"…What happens if Drake stops being human completely?"

Silence followed.

Then Peter answered quietly.

"…We remind him why he wanted to be human in the first place."

Even Derek didn't argue with that.

Because despite everything—

Drake still laughed with them.

Still protected them.

Still chose them.

And that choice?

Terrified ancient monsters more than his power ever could.

The war officially began at the abandoned mall.

Because apparently Beacon Hills couldn't host a supernatural conflict anywhere normal.

Rain hammered the broken skylights while Scott's pack stood together near the center courtyard.

Scott.

Derek.

Isaac.

Jackson.

Boyd.

Erica.

Peter.

Lydia.

Allison.

Stiles holding a crowbar like moral support.

And Drake standing silently at the front.

Across from them—

The Alpha Pack emerged from the darkness.

Deucalion.

Kali.

Ennis.

Ethan and Aiden.

Five fully evolved Alphas radiating killing intent.

The pressure alone cracked tiles beneath their feet.

Scott swallowed nervously.

"…This feels unfair."

Peter snorted.

"For them? Absolutely."

Deucalion stepped forward calmly.

"It doesn't have to end violently."

Kali burst out laughing immediately.

"Oh my God yes it does."

The twins looked embarrassed.

Drake's eyes remained fixed on Deucalion.

"You've been provoking my pack for months."

"Yes."

"You murdered innocent people."

"Yes."

"And now you're threatening my family."

The air temperature dropped violently.

Deucalion's smile faded slightly.

"That word again."

"Family?" Scott asked quietly.

"No," Deucalion answered carefully.

"Pack."

The blind Alpha finally understood the problem.

Drake didn't protect Beacon Hills because of obligation.

Or instinct.

Or prophecy.

He protected it because he loved the people in it.

And something ancient protecting what it loved?

That was catastrophic.

Ennis growled impatiently.

"Enough talking."

Then the fight exploded.

The mall collapsed into chaos instantly.

Scott clashed against Ethan.

Derek fought Kali brutally across the upper level.

Jackson tackled Aiden through a storefront.

Peter and Ennis practically demolished an escalator.

Glass shattered everywhere.

Concrete cracked.

Alpha roars echoed through the building.

And through all of it—

Drake stood still.

Watching.

Waiting.

Because Deucalion wasn't moving either.

The Demon Wolf smiled slightly.

"You're restraining yourself."

"Yes."

"Why?"

Drake looked toward Scott.

"…Because they need to learn they can survive without me solving everything."

Deucalion tilted his head thoughtfully.

"And if they fail?"

Drake's eyes darkened.

"Then I stop holding back."
