[Chapter Size: 2500 Words.]
Third Person POV.
Winterfell.
...
...
Another day had passed in Winterfell. He took the opportunity to spend more time exclusively with Daenerys.
He was also with Bran, who reported how his training regarding green sight was going and said what he was beginning to discover about the Blackfyre, something Daemon already suspected: he truly was Illyrio's son.
The Blackfyre boy hated him for it, hated the one who killed his father Illyrio, because Daemon had killed him like an animal. And it really had been Jon who simply hanged him until his neck snapped, making him pay for what he was trying to do to the Targaryen siblings.
Daemon would enjoy himself greatly when he came face to face with that Blackfyre when the moment arrived. He would not fail to mock him harshly about it.
Daemon left Winterfell the following day, but he did not officially say goodbye to anyone. He even left Jaime Lannister behind, because his destination was not the south, but the north. Daemon wanted to see the Wall and advanced toward it at full speed.
Upon landing near Castle Black, he found the place quite busy. The gate was opened for him, and Daemon entered, finding the Lord Commander along with his uncle Benjen and many other rangers.
Daemon did not fail to glance around while he saw some of the men staring at him with a certain degree of hatred. After all, they were all there precisely because of him.
On the other hand, there were many free folk there, looking at him with respect. Daemon merely greeted them with a nod and then faced his uncle and the Lord Commander.
"Do not take offense at the reception, although I think you do not even care about it," the Lord Commander said.
"Well, they can try to do something. I just do not guarantee it will work," Daemon mocked, with a fearless tone.
The hatred was evident, but no one denied that if someone attacked him and was foolish enough to do so, because they were facing Daemon as many had witnessed, it was like staring at certain death. And the Lord Commander would do nothing to stop it.
The Lord Commander then knelt, and everyone followed him there in the courtyard. The Night's Watch might not be taking sides in the affairs of the Seven Kingdoms, but it had to maintain respect in the presence of its kings. Everyone knelt, even those full of hatred, for their eyes also conveyed fear. Only the people who were in other places, in the windows, on the battlements, or even atop the Wall itself, remained standing.
"Rise," Daemon ordered quickly, motioning for everyone to return to position.
"Jon, I mean, Your Majesty, how is Bran?" Benjen asked next.
"He is managing Winterfell very well for his age, if you want to know," Daemon replied, with his uncle nodding.
The initial plan was for Benjen to serve during this time as Lord of Winterfell. However, due to the condition of the Wall, with nearly three thousand new recruits, Benjen had to leave to help the Lord Commander organize everything before the situation became uncontrollable.
For that reason, Daemon's free folk were there, and the rangers had to swallow their own pride and accept his help to suppress a number of men almost thirty times greater than their own.
In any case, the Lord Commander led him inside as they began to discuss more serious matters.
"Any activity in the north?" he asked, as Jeor shook his head.
"No, everything is silent and empty. The men are restless. We are still repairing the tunnel you destroyed during the attack, but even so, no one wants to venture out after they saw that creature, no one wishes to become that thing..." he said, and Daemon understood.
"It is better not to send anyone out, but open the gate to any living being that is not walking like a corpse. The free folk should know what to do with them," Daemon said, as Jeor nodded.
"We are running out of resources," Jeor murmured. This was not a problem only for the Night's Watch, but also for the free folk.
"Do not worry about that. In two weeks, four ships will dock at Eastwatch. Braavos is sending supplies," Daemon said.
The Lord Commander could not have felt more relieved, but Daemon was not finished yet. "I would like to speak about your son, Lord Commander," he said, making Jeor raise an eyebrow.
"My son? What about him?" he asked with a certain caution. His son had always been a sensitive subject.
"Your son has just joined the personal guard of a Blackfyre, commanding some dragons farther south. The news has not reached here yet, but Storm's End was taken by a group of new ships, and Hightower and Dorne are gathering around him, announcing that he was to be my brother."
"Blackfyre?" Jeor asked cautiously, with a grimace that even Benjen at his side shared.
"He is passing himself off as Aegon Targaryen, but is, in truth, the son of a woman with Blackfyre blood, even the sister of Varys, for whom your son has always worked all this time. What I mean by this, Lord Commander, is that your son has become an enemy of mine. He allied himself with Varys and this Blackfyre who is passing himself off as my brother. I have no other solution than to kill them for this offense to the memory of Aegon Targaryen, my brother, who died at one year of age at the hands of the Mountain," Daemon said.
The message was quite clear. Jeor fell silent, with a mixture of sadness, regret, anger, and even fear. He knew very well what awaited his son's future.
Daemon was saying that he was going to kill him.
"You may even be upset with me, Lord Commander, because it is clear that you still care about your son... But we are at war, and at the moment I go to kill Aegon Blackfyre, your son, as he swore, will try to protect him before my blade reaches him. You know what that means, do you not?" Daemon said calmly.
Jeor merely nodded his head.
The meeting continued regarding the Wall. The structure was far too large, and now they had to use all the men they had to try to cover and watch the points, so that nothing would be left unguarded. If the dead advanced through any of those sides, everyone was to immediately warn Castle Black with urgency.
The men were not exactly obedient, since more than thirty-two had lost their heads for disobeying orders or committing other crimes, while four of them were fugitives.
Daemon said he would set animals after them so they would not cause too many problems, but, unfortunately, it was inevitable that there would be serious conflicts with the number of men who had now entered the Wall, even with all the security they had reorganized.
The king did not fail to notice Aemon, who was in his chamber, speaking with his kinsman about the latest developments. He explained about Daenerys, and Aemon said that he had been exchanging many letters over the last moons, with her herself speaking of her pregnancy and the war. Aemon already knew about the Blackfyre, and Daemon knew that he was troubled, but he also believed that he would be able to deal with it.
Daemon finally left the Wall and returned to Winterfell. Now, he needed to say goodbye to everyone. He took Jaime Lannister, binding him completely and even placing a gag on him, not wanting to hear his sarcastic humor at that moment, and took him to Winter, not failing to say farewell to everyone as he departed.
After saying goodbye to everyone, he took Jaime Lannister with him, carrying him in front of him as Winter shot into the sky, leaving Winterfell behind and heading south once more.
It was night when Daemon finally landed at the camp. Men came to greet him, but he had eyes only for Val, bringing the bound body of Tywin Lannister's son.
"Tell my commanders that we will not have any meeting today. I will only rest, and tomorrow we will discuss something before the great event. I will leave this man outside my tent. Do not remove him from there, understood?" Daemon warned, and went inside the tent with Val, as they shared that night together.
At dawn, Daemon gathered all the leaders and said he would put on a fine show to start the day. Everyone stopped. Most seemed quite shocked, while some were pleased, others indifferent, and some even looked with a certain horror at what was about to happen.
"Daemon, may we talk?" Ned Stark tried to speak to him in private.
Daemon nodded and ordered everyone to leave the tent, since the meeting was over.
"Executing him like this, Your Grace... there is no honor in it." He began.
"There is no honor in that man either, nor in his family, Lord Stark. We deal with animals as they are. And do not forget that he pushed your son and would have killed him if he had another chance. You yourself heard from Bran about him bedding his own sister in that tower," Daemon replied.
Lord Stark could not say anything in response immediately, but he sighed. "Still, I think he deserves a better death than this," he said.
"Your opinion is even welcome, but not heeded, Lord Stark. Besides, I will not discuss this with you. This is my form of justice. Tywin gave orders to execute children of my blood, Lord Stark. Innocent children. I will not simply stop to debate morality with you or that lion. I will make Tywin pay for what happened," Daemon declared.
With those words, Daemon moved on, leaving Lord Stark behind.
A moment later, the preparations began. Daemon, against all expectations, took Winter and immediately mounted her, rising so high that the scorpions could not reach him. Even so, everyone tried to follow the dragon when they realized he was advancing toward the city.
As he approached, Daemon lowered himself as the dragon plunged from the sky directly onto the Red Keep, colliding with one of its rooftops. The structure began to give way under the weight, with several pieces of debris falling below. Daemon calmly observed the courtyard of the Red Keep as the dragon finally steadied itself there.
"Tywin Lannister!" Daemon shouted, using a tone of voice that immediately carried power, reaching the ears of everyone there in the fortress and beyond it.
"I am about to execute Jaime Lannister in one hour. I hope you come to watch the spectacle. After all, it was easy to capture your son in the middle of the sea."
Without saying anything else, Daemon made Winter spread her wings and surge outward, leaving behind the chaos caused by his presence and by his voice in the Red Keep.
Jaime Lannister was then torn from the tent where he was bound, being dragged outside. Everyone watched in silence as he was taken to the front of the camp. He could not help but notice the presence of the wildlings, the Northmen, and the men of the Stormlands. Most showed disgust; perhaps even the wildlings seemed more friendly, with indifferent expressions. Some had heard that he slept with his sister, crippled Bran Stark, and did not fail to spit on the ground when they saw him.
Jaime mocked it, until he was taken before the son of Rhaegar, who awaited him at the front of everyone. Even in that situation, Jaime did not fail to sketch a small arrogant smile upon seeing Lord Stark.
"Well, if it is not Lord Stark. You look quite well," he said, before being dragged forward, leaving Lord Stark with a hardened gaze.
"And you do not look very well," Daemon mocked, answering when his uncle remained silent. "And you will not look better shortly."
With that, Jaime was dragged to Daemon's feet. He still tried to say something, but it was already too late. Jaime was forced to kneel, and a stump was placed there. Jon watched everything in silence, knowing very well what that meant.
He would be executed.
Jaime's eyes turned to King's Landing, right before him. The walls were full, and he swore that, even from that distance, he could see his family there: his father, his sister, all watching beside the scorpions.
His arrogance died in that moment. He shuddered as he realized that, in the end, Jaime Lannister, disgraced by his actions, would die like a dog before his family, just like Elia and her children.
A sword materialized in Daemon's hand: none other than Dark Sister. He watched in silence as Jaime grew restless.
"Rest easy, Jaime Lannister. This will be over in a minute. I will still grant you the benefit of a quick and painless death. Even after everything you have done."
"Then do it," Jaime Lannister said simply, with no hope of changing his fate. "I am just sorry," he suddenly said. "I am sorry for not saving the royal children. I did not want them to die."
"I know you killed Aerys because of the wildfire beneath the city, but instead of going after the children and trying to save them, you simply sat on that throne until my uncle saw you and called you Kingslayer. You failed to protect the children of Rhaegar Targaryen, and for that, you will die. In addition to the crimes of usurping the throne through bastards, as well as pushing innocent children simply because they saw you fucking your own sister," Daemon snarled.
Jaime said nothing. He simply accepted it, lowering his head. The lords also said nothing, merely watching in silence.
Daemon cast one last glance toward the walls, narrowing his eyes to see who was there. He could not help but smile when he noticed the old lion deeply distressed, while they were unable to see exactly what was happening there, as everything was nothing more than distant figures.
Then, he turned his gaze back to Jaime.
"I, Daemon Targaryen, rightful king and protector of the Seven Kingdoms, declare Jaime Lannister sentenced to death for all his well-known crimes and also for negligence in his duty. Your last words?" Daemon asked.
"Tell my sister that I will always love her. I ask that you heal her from her torment as well, she is suffering greatly because of what you did to her..." that was all Jaime said.
Daemon almost laughed. After all, that woman had always used him. When he was not present, she slept with others, even uncles and cousins, with anyone who had blond hair and green eyes, including some Kingsguard, all to gain favors. She was not doing that now because of what Daemon had done to her, removing all her sense of power.
"I can only say that I will not heal her as you think, Ser Jaime... She will be healed after I kill her as well." That was all Daemon said.
Then, before Jaime could say anything, he simply moved his sword and cut Jaime Lannister's neck with ease. The head separated from the body and fell to the ground, dead.
Another lion cub had been killed. Now, only those who watched from a distance remained.
