As they had agreed, Naruto met everyone at Training Ground 7.
"Damn... This would be so nostalgic if it weren't for the Rasen-Shuriken training that took place here...", Naruto muttered, looking at everyone already gathered waiting for him.
He wasn't late. In fact, the others had simply arrived earlier.
"This feels just like when we came back from the three-year journey. Is there going to be another bell test?" he asked Kakashi excitedly.
Jiraiya, Kakashi, Tsunade, several ANBU members, Sakura, Sai, and Yamato were present.
As soon as he arrived, Naruto noticed something strange. The expressions on Tsunade's, Jiraiya's, Kakashi's, and Yamato's faces were different.
"Hey... What's with those looks?" he asked curiously.
He had no idea what was in that scroll, so he didn't know how it could have left those people somewhat disturbed. Even so, no one answered.
"We'll talk later. For now, we want to see what your true level of power is," Tsunade replied.
"It seems there hasn't been any leakage of the Nine-Tails' chakra..." Tsunade added, while Naruto raised one eyebrow.
"Didn't I tell you everything was under control, baa-chan?"
"Don't worry. I know. Even so, I needed to see it with my own eyes. A lot of people would be after my head if I hadn't shown at least a minimum level of confidence to the village..."
Naruto merely shrugged. "Okay."
Jiraiya then stepped forward. "If that's the case... Who do you want to fight?"
Naruto smiled. "Why don't both of you come at me?" He pointed at Kakashi and Jiraiya at the same time.
"Hey, kid! Don't get cocky!" Jiraiya complained.
"You really think you can take on both of us?" Kakashi asked with one eyebrow raised, though he didn't seem offended.
Naruto simply flashed a confident grin. "I do."
Tsunade shook her head. "Before that, let's test Yamato. We also want to see how much he's improved in that other world."
Yamato simply nodded. Naruto agreed as well, and the two walked to the center of the training ground.
"Come at me with everything you've got, Captain Yamato."
Yamato stared at Naruto seriously.
He knew this Naruto wasn't joking. His confidence wasn't unfounded. No one needed to give the signal for the fight to begin.
Yamato was the first to act. He quickly brought his hands together in a hand seal, and enormous wooden pillars burst from the ground, advancing from every direction to surround Naruto.
The response came instantly. Several golden chakra chains shot out from Naruto's back.
"The Adamantine Chains of the Uzumaki Clan...", Jiraiya murmured.
The wooden pillars collided directly with the chains. However, the tips of the chains pierced through the wood as if it were paper, completely destroying Yamato's technique.
They still hadn't talked much about all the abilities Naruto had acquired yesterday.
They only knew that he was a sensory-type ninja, had learned Wood Release, Senjutsu, and had become a perfect jinchūriki.
But it was obvious that was far from everything. The chains completely destroyed the first offensive and, without losing momentum, surged toward Yamato.
The captain quickly raised successive wooden barricades to block the attack.
Uselessly. The chakra chains pierced through each barrier with ease, shattering everything in their path.
Naruto kept up the pressure, but he was caught off guard when a massive tree trunk suddenly emerged beneath his feet.
He didn't have time to move away. The wood wrapped around his leg, pinning it firmly to the ground.
"What the...? Am I getting way too arrogant?" Naruto grumbled.
With another chakra chain, he simply pierced through the wood restraining his leg, breaking it apart with ease.
It seemed he realized he shouldn't just stand there with his arms crossed, letting the chains do all the work.
"Naruto really has gotten strong..." Sai commented beside Sakura.
She was also quite surprised. It was the first time she had seen Naruto use those chains.
Sakura didn't know much about the Uzumaki Clan or the Adamantine Chains, but just by looking at them, she could tell how absurdly powerful they were.
They were able to match Yamato's Wood Release head-on and destroy it with ease. Several wooden clones began emerging from between the barricades.
Naruto closed his eyes for a moment and focused his senses to locate the real Yamato.
Even as a sensory ninja, distinguishing which of those clones was the real one was extremely difficult. But Naruto managed to see that the one with the greatest amount of chakra had stayed behind.
Before he could do anything, Naruto suddenly felt the ground beneath him give way.
Yamato had both hands pressed against the ground behind the barricade, using Earth Release. At that very moment, Naruto threw a kunai into the air while the ground beneath him continued sinking lower and lower.
Everyone followed its trajectory. That was when they noticed a seal inscribed on the weapon's handle.
"That is..." Jiraiya murmured, his mouth hanging open in realization.
He recognized that seal immediately. Kakashi, Tsunade, and the ANBU hidden nearby also widened their eyes.
The younger ones, however, had never seen the Fourth Hokage fight and didn't understand the others' reaction.
The very next instant... Naruto vanished from inside the pit.
In a single golden flash, he reappeared beside the kunai while it was still in midair, catching it before opening his other free hand, still suspended in the air.
"Hiraishin..." Jiraiya whispered.
"And to think he learned that technique as well..." Tsunade observed carefully, with Kakashi looking equally astonished.
"It's not on Minato's level... It's still slower. Even so..." Kakashi said...
Before anyone could say anything else, a Rasengan began taking shape in Naruto's free hand.
But it kept growing. And growing.
Even Jiraiya swallowed hard. He could only create a Rasengan of that size while using Sage Mode.
Even so... Naruto's was now at least twice as large, and it still hadn't stopped growing.
"Hey... Hey, hey! That's not fair!" Yamato shouted, frightened by the enormous sphere descending from the sky toward him.
Without wasting a second, he formed several hand seals. Layer upon layer of wood rose up around him.
One... Two... Three... Four successive barriers.
The next instant, Naruto hurled the gigantic Rasengan. The sphere slammed violently into the wooden defenses.
BOOOOM!
The explosion shook the entirety of Training Ground 7. The wooden barriers were obliterated.
The shockwave knocked down every clone scattered across the field. Even those who were merely watching the fight had to retreat to avoid being struck by the debris.
As the dust slowly began to settle, an enormous crater occupied the center of the field. However... Naruto was no longer there.
He had reappeared elsewhere on the training ground, calmly observing the result of the attack.
A few seconds later, Yamato emerged from the ground on the opposite side of the crater. He had escaped by using Earth Release to quickly burrow beneath the earth.
"Damn..." Yamato muttered, breathing heavily. "That was dangerous..."
If he hadn't escaped underground in time... he would have died from taking that Rasengan head-on.
Naruto simply looked at him calmly. "Keep your composure on the battlefield until you've secured your victory, Captain Yamato." He smiled faintly. "Didn't my father teach you that?"
Yamato remained silent, staring at Naruto with one eyebrow raised, while everyone else simply watched the scene, becoming more and more impressed by the level he had reached.
Yamato barely had time to react. When he felt a hand touch his shoulder, he turned his head and found Naruto standing beside him.
The Naruto he had seen on the other side was a Wood Clone...
Startled, Yamato leaped backward, but it was already too late. During that brief touch on his shoulder, Naruto had left a Hiraishin seal behind.
A few seconds later, Naruto vanished once again. In the next instant, he reappeared beside Yamato.
Chains shot out from his back like living serpents, completely wrapping around the captain.
The chains bound his arms, legs, and torso, immediately suppressing his chakra, something only the Uzumaki Clan's Adamantine Chains were capable of doing.
"Looks like I won, Captain."
Yamato looked down at his own body, completely transformed into a metal mummy wrapped in chakra chains.
He let out a long sigh. "I surrender."
Naruto smiled and dispelled the chains.
"We barely got to see how much Yamato improved, even though we didn't see everything..." Tsunade murmured.
"Much less Naruto..." Jiraiya added in a serious tone.
Kakashi remained silent, carefully observing his former student.
"Looks like you'll have to fight now," Tsunade commented, and Jiraiya nodded as he stepped forward. "What do you think, Kakashi? Could you defeat him?"
Kakashi didn't answer immediately. After a few seconds, he shook his head. "No." Everyone turned to look at him. "I can't defeat this Naruto." He then looked at Yamato.
"And Yamato isn't weak at all either. In fact, he came back much more versatile. He has better mastery over the elements and can produce a far greater amount of Wood Release. Even against Yamato... I don't think I could defeat him now."
Jiraiya smiled faintly upon hearing that. "Well... If we have people this powerful on our side, maybe the future won't be so bleak after all."
Tsunade remained silent. She simply watched Jiraiya walk to the center of the training ground.
"I'll be your opponent, my dear student..." he said, taking his fighting stance. "Let's see what you've learned."
Yamato stepped out of the field, giving the two room.
Naruto looked at Jiraiya and smiled. "I hope you don't hold back, Jiraiya-sensei..."
Jiraiya laughed. "Tell me something... Is the Minato from that other world stronger than you?"
Naruto fell into thought.
Jiraiya already knew that Minato possessed a special power. A power that didn't exist in this world.
The mysterious Light Release.
According to Yamato, that Minato was capable of turning his own body into light, moving at practically the speed of light, launching attacks made of light, and even becoming intangible.
After hearing all of that, Jiraiya no longer found it absurd to imagine that Minato was truly capable of fighting Kage-level opponents.
Naruto finally answered. "To tell you the truth... I never stood a chance against him." He smiled awkwardly.
"Even when I used Kurama Mode, he trained with me while carrying dozens of tons of weight just to make the fight fair." Naruto finished by scratching the back of his head. "I still want to become Hokage... but honestly, I don't know if I'll ever reach his level."
Jiraiya didn't like that answer very much. Even so, he merely sighed before fully assuming his fighting stance.
"Then show me." He flashed a confident smile. "I want to see everything you didn't show during your fight against Yamato. I want to understand the true limits of your abilities." Jiraiya pointed at Naruto.
"Surprise me even more than you surprised all of us in that last fight."
Naruto nodded. Without saying a single word, he formed a hand seal. At that very moment, four figures began emerging from the ground around him.
They were wooden humanoids. Little by little, their faces, hair, and clothes began to change.
Within seconds... all four had taken on Naruto's exact appearance.
"Wood Clones..." Jiraiya murmured, maintaining his fighting stance.
The clone on the right was the fastest. It formed a sequence of hand seals.
"Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!"
The next instant, a gigantic blast of wind swept across the entire training ground.
The shockwave was so powerful that even those watching the fight from afar had to brace themselves.
The gale roared like a true vacuum bomb, kicking up dust, rocks, and tearing chunks of earth from the ground as it pushed everything in its path.
Jiraiya slid back several meters, digging his feet into the ground to keep from being blown away.
Before he could even react... the second clone had already finished its hand seals.
"Wind Style: Vacuum Bullets!"
Several compressed air bullets were fired at incredible speed.
At the same time, the third clone opened its mouth after completing its jutsu.
"Water Style: Water Bullet Barrage!"
Extremely condensed spheres of water accompanied the wind projectiles.
The two techniques advanced together.
Seeing this, Jiraiya immediately slammed both hands onto the ground.
"Earth Style: Earth Wall!"
A massive wall of rock rose up in front of him.
However... The moment the projectiles struck the wall, dozens of small explosions echoed through the stone. The air and water bullets pierced through the rock as if it were paper.
When the smoke cleared, the wall was completely riddled with holes. On the other side...
Jiraiya had already vanished. He reappeared several meters away, letting out a sigh.
"That was dangerous..." His expression was serious.
The ease with which Naruto used elemental techniques was absurd. Jiraiya himself knew that Naruto had only recently learned the wind element to use the Rasen-Shuriken, but he had to admit it was good that Naruto had become more versatile. After all, he had very few mid- and long-range attacks.
His specialty had always come down to clones and the Rasengan.
The fourth clone then stepped forward. As it performed another sequence of hand seals, it began gathering all the moisture present in the air.
Within seconds, a gigantic mass of water formed around it. The water continued increasing in volume...
Until it burst forward like a true tsunami.
"Water Style: Great Exploding Wave!"
The immense torrent surged directly toward Jiraiya. Without hesitation, he dived underground using Earth Release.
The wave swept across the surface, devastating everything in its path. At that very moment, the third clone leaped into the air.
It formed another series of hand seals.
"Water Style: Hydraulic Cutter!"
A thin stream of extremely compressed water shot from its mouth. The moment it touched the ground, the technique began violently drilling through it. Then the clone raised its head, and the jet of water swept across the battlefield like a gigantic blade, slicing through the earth with terrifying ease.
The ground simply split open wherever the technique passed. The cutting force was enough to cleave enormous boulders in half.
Jiraiya resurfaced several meters away, breathing heavily. "That was close..." Beads of sweat ran down his face. Had he been a second slower... he would have been cut in half.
His technique of moving underground was useless against a sensory ninja with the Uzumaki Clan's abilities...
"You have incredible elemental control, Naruto!" Jiraiya praised from a distance.
Naruto simply nodded. "I learned a lot of jutsu from my mother... and also from the Senju Clan's scrolls. There were many techniques from the Second Hokage, who specialized in Water Style..."
Considering all the connections Minato had in that other world, it wasn't difficult to imagine how Naruto had gained access to so many techniques.
"But..." Naruto smiled faintly. "I learned something else too."
He raised only one hand. A Rasengan instantly began forming above his palm.
Jiraiya narrowed his eyes. "Now that I think about it... he can create a Rasengan using only one hand, without needing clones..." he said calmly, but in the very next instant, his expression changed completely.
His eyes widened. Wind-nature chakra slowly began enveloping the blue sphere.
The wind blades spun around the Rasengan, increasing their speed with every passing second.
"He's thinking... No!" Tsunade took a step forward, her eyes widening.
"It's forbidden to use that technique!" Her voice echoed across the field.
She herself had forbidden Naruto from using the Rasenshuriken after discovering the microscopic damage the technique caused to the arm of whoever threw it.
Jiraiya also recognized the danger of the jutsu, and everyone present tensed up.
Naruto, however, didn't seem worried in the slightest. He completely ignored the looks of indignation and concern directed at him.
The enormous Rasenshuriken finished forming above his hand.
The wind blades spun so rapidly that they produced a sharp buzzing sound, distorting the air around them.
"Don't worry." Naruto smiled calmly. "I don't have that problem anymore. My father taught me how to perfect this technique. Did you know he already knew it before I entered that world?"
As soon as Naruto finished speaking, he stepped forward and, without the slightest hesitation, hurled the Rasenshuriken directly at Jiraiya.
The Sannin's eyes widened. The gigantic wind shuriken raced toward him, slicing through the air with a deafening roar.
Jiraiya could only watch that overwhelming power coming straight at him...
