After the classes in the Shinobi Academy, Kajirama was with Obito, and Rin.
Kakashi had gone off much earlier than them. Shitō Akimichi and Ensui Nara were hanging out with their classmate, Santa Yamanaka, which Kajirama, Obito and Rin had hang out occasionally within the month that passed. The three deep-rooted tied clan members informed the others within the group that they were going to have a family dinner in the company of their respective clan. Apparently, it was a occuring thing on their family.
Akio Inuzuka, Anzo Mitarashi, Asuma and Kurenai seemed to had their own plans on the day too, that's why Rin, Obito and Kajirama were the only ones within their group appearing on the 'makeshift' training ground.
It was, in the beginning, where Kajirama and Obito had first met, but now, with each and everyone of their group's effort as they worked together on making the forest opening more well organized which was a thought that Kajirama had given a rise towards his friends, the reason for that, was because the space of the clearing was large enough, but it was too empty.
With Ensui's well thought out structure for their course of action on 'remodeling' their marked training ground(which the Nara member found extremely troublesome), along with a bit of everyone else's opinion on their take of the design, it was now much more full and loaded with equipments and things for their own use.
With training dummies sorted out at the north end of the field and a dozen few wooden training dummies on and about hanging or attached to some tree trunks. On the west, was a large running river covered by a small forest and on the east were where they put their personal equipment on, each kid of the group picked a tree that had a wide enough trunk for them to carve a drawer on, a substitute for a cabinet. That's where they put their stuffs, for example - Shurikens, Kunais, Backpacks, and other personal stuffs they had with them, etc.
Each drawer had their respective clan's symbol inscribed with a kunai, Kurenai was the first one to come up with this and she reasoned that it would be for their own convenience, which the others agreed after some thought. Kajirama appropriately added a simple and basic sealing mechanism on each of their 'drawers', which functioned as a lock and could only be unlocked by the person who possessed the key that matches with the diagram written by Kajirama's improving calligraphy, unfortunately, Kajirama wasn't that proficient with Fūinjutsus, or else, he would have added a much more secure and complex sealing technique so that others - except Fūinjutsu Practitioners who were much more adept than him on the art could break the mechanism behind it - wouldn't be able to crack the diagram that easily. Nonetheless, what Kajirama applied was enough as is, beside, it took him over half a month or so to learn and apply it.
The others were amazed, even Akio, that egoistic friend of theirs wondered and asked Kajirama about it, which the white-haired replied with. "It's a Fūinjutsu technique, if you guys want to learn it, don't bother. It required very heavy reliance on calligraphy, chakra control and fully knowing the in and outs of the sealing technique you wanted to perform, not to mention, you had to read tons of books to guide you on the fundamentals." With that said, the others quickly lost interest, however, their amazement of it didn't cease that short as they kept asking Kajirama about the art, especially Kakashi, he seemed to be especially interested in it, Kajirama noted.
The beautiful view of mountains in the landscape and the large and deep, running river at the east side, along with the organized training ground they worked hard to put together, it was a picturesque layout if all of them had to have a say for it. They like the convenience of knowing that everything is laid out before them.
They call this place of theirs, 'The Hideout'. Which would become a very important monumental ground in the far future, and would be added on Konohagakure's annals of history, where the leading figures of the generation bonded together and grew with the Will of Fire dancing among their shadows.
...
Kajirama stood in the middle of The Hideout, who looked towards his friends to check what they were up to. Rin was training chakra control as she tried to balance the leaves on her fingertips, while Obito was practicing his fire style jutsus on the river.
"Yow Rin, Obito." Kajirama called out to them, loud enough for Obito to hear from far back. When they turned their attention towards him, Kajirama continued. "Don't you notice that Kakashi acted a bit off today?"
"What do you mean?" Obito asked, walking over to Kajirama.
"Kakashi was supposed to go together with us to do some fishing, right?" Obito and Rin nodded, they did planned fishing today after school.
"However, Kakashi didn't come with us in the end..." Kajirama trailed off as he remembered the emotion that he managed to see in Kakashi's eyes earlier. "And don't you both notice that, Kakashi seemed to have that... Sad look?"
"The same sad look Kakashi sometimes show a few times?" Obito asked with a raised brow.
Kajirama nodded in an affirmative. "This time though, I noticed that he looked more sad than usual."
"Then something must have happened, should we check out?" Rin suggested with concern.
"I mean, it's his personal matter..." Obito shook his head after that. "However, he is still our friend, so I think we should."
"Let's go?" Rin ended, they started to then walk towards Kakashi's house, which they had already visited a couple of times.
...
When they were about to arrive, they saw Kakashi exited his house's door with something within his hands. Obito called out immediately.
"Hey, Kakas-!?" Rin and Kajirama swiftly covered Obito's mouth, as they both dragged Obito to some bushes nearby. Obito struggle as he tried to get his friends' hands off his mouth.
Kakashi looked over their original location with a questioning look. Seeing no one there, he quickly left to go towards his destination.
Seeing that Kakashi didn't suspect anything, Rin and Kajirama heaved a sigh of relief. Obito released their hands off his mouth then loudly shouted at them. "Hey! What was that for!?"
"Quiet down, Obito." Kajirama hushed. "Didn't you see what Kakashi was holding?"
"Huh?" Obito blinked, confused.
"He's holding a bouquet of flowers." Rin informed.
"Yeah." Kajirama nodded to confirm it. "I think he's going to give it to someone..."
Obito's eyes lit up, then he looked over where Kakashi had been mischievously with a sly grin. "Do you think..." He raised both his eyebrows and wriggled it like a worm.
Rin was puzzled by Obito's implication, but Kajirama get it. "It's possible... Still, he hang out most of the time with us, so that's unlikely, maybe he's giving it to someone else?"
"Let's find out, but don't act out Obito." Kajirama warned.
Obito just responded with a sheeping smile and a rub on the back of his head.
...
They followed Kakashi until they arrived at the monument. Seeing how they ended up here, the trio had an idea of the purpose on Kakashi's bouquet. Obito muttered behind the tree they were hiding from. "So he's visiting a grave?"
"A relative of his perhaps." Rin added thoughtfully.
Kajirama had a blank look on his face, he looked over behind the Memorial Stone, to dicern his mother's familiar stele. He had visited this part of the village many times his age, sometimes with his grandparents, sometimes with his father when he returned, and a few times on his own accord because of... longing and yearning.
He took his eyes of his mother's stele to look over Kakashi, who was crouching down to place the flowers he brought with him on a stele. They noticed that unlike the others that were organized on a row, the one Kakashi visited was a lonesome grave that had a stone erected instead of a stele made from the material of carved marbles.
A raindrop suddenly fell from the sky, as it landed with a light 'splash' on Obito's head. The trio looked up at the to see the sky darkening with black clouds looming over, slowly covering the sky.
At that moment, they could somehow hear Kakashi talk to himself from their distance.
"Tōu-san..." Kakashi started. The trio perked up, curious to what their friend was about to say, although they seemed to be a intruding on Kakashi's privacy with all the snooping around they were doing, they were curious to what he was about say.
"You've broke the shinobi's rules for your friends' sake, didn't you?" Kakashi's hair and mask were covering his expression so the trio didn't have a clue where he was going with this.
"I've made friends too." Kajirama, Obito and Rin smiled subconsciously, but then it froze when Kakashi uttered:
"But, I'll never be like you, Tōu-san." After he finished speaking he got up, looking at the clouds that were now heavily pouring overhead. After a moment, he left with his hands on his pocket.
"Uhmm..." Obito hesitated before saying. "What was that about?"
Kajirama didn't reply, so does Rin.
Kajirama looked back to where Kakashi left, and seeing that his figure was disappearing, Kajirama got out of the tree they were hiding and stepped towards the direction of the grave Kakashi had just visited.
When he saw the name - 'Sakumo Hatake: The White Fang' - carved on the stele, Kajirama knew he had heard of this from somewhere, maybe that's the reason he found Kakashi's name somewhat familiar. He wanted to ask somebody about 'Sakumo Hatake', he was curious not because of what this man's relationship had with Kakashi, but because, Kajirama was disturbed when he heard of the last words his friend had spoken.
And he knew just the right person to ask of this.
"Guys, I'm going to visit the my grandfather at his office real quick. See you tomorrow okay?"
"Oy! Kajirama wait-"
Obito didn't have time to finish his sentence before they saw Kajirama sprinted on the damby dirt grounds.
They absentmindedly stood under the pouring rain, not knowing what happened. Rin got out of her daze as she tugged Obito's clothes. "Let's go Obito. We'll get sick if we stayed right here."
"Alright."
