The howls of the nightlife of the First Sanctuary filled my ears as I was camping in a small divot of a cave in a large rock face. Howl's of predators finding and hunting their prey filled the air and prevented me from sleeping as my eyes could barely see through the full moon's light out of the cave.
'This fucking sucks.' I mused with a wry smile as I knew that traveling while it was dark was a fucking fools errand to say the least. At least until I got some genes or a geno art that would improve my night vision anyway.
And in the Sanctuary, it's not like I could have a flashlight or anything as the sanctuary itself rendered all 'advanced' technology unusable besides the technology the Sanctuary spawned itself at the Shelters.
A loud shriek rang out loud before being abruptly cut off within a couple hundred meters at most with the shriek bouncing around inside my small cave and echoing.
'Yup... This is going to suck trying to sleep through.' I thought weakly while at least happy with how I had to climb up the rock face to get into the cave. That no larger or abnormal predator would be able to get to me.
While within my Sacred Blood Tier armor, for safety I just took a breath and relaxed as I tried to push my mind into a fugue state to at least get some rest in. As I most certainly didn't want to spend another night outside in the Sanctuary.
A few minutes later, a loud roar rang out followed by a human yelling obscenities followed loud noises of running getting past the rock face rang out and I just kept quiet and still as a loud crack and explosion rang out with dust and small pebbles falling onto my head rang out as whoever the fuck was out there.
Used some kind of explosion to get the predator chasing them to give them more time. As I heard said predator howling with fury before they charged down the rocky level below my cave deeper into the forest.
'Wait... Was that Han Sen I heard?' I wondered in some shock as I realized that it almost certainly was him actually, and that roar. I think it was that giant oversized fucking tiger that almost decided to eat me and the big titty redhead trio.
For a moment I considered going out there... Then I thought. 'No, why the fuck would I want to go out there? If he dies, then good riddance to a shit-heel asshole, and if he survives... Still, not my problem.'
Because after I left the First Sanctuary, I would be randomly teleported to the Second Sanctuary which was bigger than the First, and far more dangerous with most animals at Mutated Tier having supernatural abilities.
Whereas here in the First, only the stronger Sacred Blood tier creatures had true supernatural abilities.
Then a scream rang out in the distance that was cut-off abruptly followed by a roar of victory from the tiger that I easily recognized.
'Whelp... What the fuck happened? Did Han Sen's completely bullshit plot armor kick in and he jumped off a waterfall only to land in a treasure land?' I mused before going still as a bland voice filled my ears.
"Nope, he died just now... When I gave you the geno gem I stripped him of much of his plot armor and providence." My sponsor fucking spoke as he formed out of nowhere in front of me.
I just stared at him, the almost copy of myself that was looking out of the cave with some mild disinterest before he looked back at me and grinned. "Don't worry this is basically a one time thing seeing as the world's 'protagonist' died not by your own hands. And with his death... You are going to have to step up your game seeing as he won't be clearing the way."
I raised an eyebrow and said flatly. "I am growing fast as hell, what else do I need to do dammit?"
And he shrugged and said bluntly. "You can practice more of Garp's martial arts while doing your Haki training instead of just waiting for your body to be upgraded... But you will need a bit of a nudge, so this will help seeing as you won't naturally run into any decent Geno Art's without selling yourself to a noble family."
As he said that, a small light shot into my head before I could react and I growled as mental pain filled my being as foreign information filled my mind... But it wasn't a cultivation/Geno manual or anything.
It was information on how to get the Dongxuan Sutra which was in the Second Sanctuary, and the Xuantian Technique which was the foundation of the Dongxuan Sutra itself later on when I entered the fourth Sanctuary.
"Anyway, you won't be seeing me again... Unless you ascend past this universe's limits on power which will take a good long while. So good luck." My sponsor said before he was just gone.
Not a poof or a portal being opened. No, he just disappeared from reality making me blink as I realized that the heavy silence was seemingly him pausing time or something as the forest was anything but quiet and then abruptly all the noise returned.
And sitting within my small cave, I wasn't so worried about the monsters and over powered animals in the dark outside. I was more worried about the future, how things would be changing with how Han Sen died and now I didn't have the tracks of Canon to follow.
Back into a mental fugue I went as I was left alone by the wildlife besides a couple Ordinary tier bugs and rodents checking into the cave and I could easily and quietly deal with.
The sun eventually rose over over the thick tree line and the distant mountains. And I got out of the cave with a slight groan before I took a deep breath before exhaling with my breath fogging the cool morning air.
"Got to get back to the Shelter now... I need to get back to reality so I can investigate the Jadeskin Sutra." I muttered with a groan.
