"Fang Li!"
The moment she saw Fang Li, Index rushed over in a panic, frantically feeling all over his body.
"Are you okay? Why are you covered in blood? Are you badly hurt? We need to treat you immediately!"
While Index anxiously checked Fang Li over, Sylvia also walked over.
"How did you end up in such a terrible state?" Sylvia said, sounding both surprised and somewhat reproachful. "You really pushed yourself too hard, didn't you?"
Fang Li merely smiled without replying.
At a time like this, no matter what he said, the two girls before him would still worry, wouldn't they?
After all, the surroundings had turned into such a mess.
Meanwhile, Stiyl walked over leisurely with a cigarette in his mouth.
Then, before Kanzaki could even speak, Stiyl directly announced: "The matter regarding Orsola and the Amakusa-Style has already been resolved."
The blunt declaration left Kanzaki momentarily unable to react.
"Resolved?"
Only after processing it did Kanzaki speak in astonishment.
"What else did you expect?" Stiyl replied with a disdainful attitude. "Why do you think the Index Librorum Prohibitorum, who was with the Amakusa-Style, ended up together with me?"
The reason the Amakusa-Style had taken Index away was actually that they wanted to obtain the Book of the Law recorded within her mind.
Inside Index's head was also a record of the Book of the Law.
However, the contents of the Original Grimoire known as the Book of the Law had long since been converted into encrypted signals. Unless those signals were deciphered, the knowledge within could not be understood.
Because of this, although Index had memorized the Book of the Law, she had only memorized the encrypted contents and had not actually obtained the knowledge within.
That was why the Amakusa-Style wanted Index to cooperate with them.
Just as the Roman Catholic Church had predicted, Orsola did indeed possess a method for deciphering the Book of the Law.
Or at least, that was what everyone believed.
The Roman Catholic Church believed Orsola possessed the deciphering method, which was why they had taken away the Book of the Law in an attempt to translate it and obtain the knowledge within.
According to legend, once the Book of the Law was deciphered, the age of Christianity would come to an end.
Precisely to prevent such a thing from happening, the Roman Catholic Church pursued Orsola.
Even if they could not retrieve the Book of the Law, they at least had to eliminate Orsola, who supposedly knew the deciphering method, to prevent the Christian era from ending.
The Amakusa-Style clearly understood this, and thus hoped to use the contents of the Book of the Law recorded in Index's mind, together with Orsola's deciphering method, to decode the grimoire's knowledge and use it as leverage against the Roman Catholic Church, forcing them to withdraw.
However, something happened that nobody had anticipated.
"The deciphering method was fake?" Kanzaki cried out in shock.
That's right.
The deciphering method was fake.
More accurately, the deciphering method Orsola had derived was fake.
"The most terrifying thing about the Book of the Law is that it has over a hundred different deciphering methods, and every single one can produce a coherent text… but all of them are false."
Index raised her head and looked at the Saint who had once hunted her down, yet had also been her colleague before she lost her memories, as she explained this.
"In reality, it's not that nobody can decipher the Book of the Law. Rather, anyone who attempts to decipher it will be lured toward an incorrect decoding method, creating countless false solutions for the Book of the Law. The decoding method Orsola arrived at was merely one of them."
In other words, the Book of the Law simply could not truly be deciphered.
The only person capable of decoding that Original Grimoire was probably its original author, Alexander Crowley.
And since Orsola's decoding method was incorrect, the Roman Catholic Church naturally no longer had a reason to continue hunting her down.
"But…" Kanzaki hurriedly asked, "Will the Roman Catholic Church actually believe that?"
"Of course they won't." Stiyl took a drag from his cigarette as he spoke. "Nobody can truly know whether a decoding method is wrong or not. Even if it were genuine, the Roman Catholic Church would probably still rather kill the wrong people than let anyone go, and eliminate both Orsola and the Amakusa-Style together."
As he said this, Stiyl glanced at Sylvia.
"If it hadn't been for this Diva here, Orsola and the Amakusa-Style might already have been killed."
Hearing this, Kanzaki looked toward Sylvia.
Sylvia merely responded with a smile and said in a relaxed tone, "It was nothing. I only subdued the rioting forces."
Those casually spoken words left Kanzaki stunned once more.
"I was honestly shocked myself," Stiyl said. "A combat unit made up of two hundred and fifty nuns proficient in magic was taken down by Lady Diva in just two or three moves. That was enough firepower to easily capture an entire stronghold."
"I never imagined Sylvie was this strong either," Index said, seemingly recalling what had happened back then. She looked at Sylvia with astonishment in her eyes and asked, "You're obviously not a Magician, so how did you even do that?"
"It's simple." Sylvia let out a light laugh. "As long as you rely on sheer presence and force of will, you'll always find a way somehow, right?"
As if it were really that simple.
"And besides, don't think too highly of me," Sylvia said with a helpless laugh. "No matter what, I could never fight to the extent those two did."
The "two" she referred to were naturally Fang Li and Kanzaki.
But in truth, that statement was overly modest.
Fang Li himself had once said that if Sylvia were to fight Kanzaki, the Saint, her odds of victory might actually be higher than his.
With her nearly all-powerful abilities, Sylvia could completely rely on all kinds of strange effects to drag Kanzaki into a battle of attrition and wear her down alive.
Fang Li, on the other hand, was a speed-type fighter, meaning his battles could never slow down.
If his opponent were a Magician like Stiyl, Fang Li could easily defeat them with the power of the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception.
Unfortunately, Kanzaki specialized in close combat reinforced through bodily enhancement magic. Combined with the overwhelming physical abilities of a Saint, even if Fang Li closed the distance, landing a hit was still a problem.
Of course, if Kanzaki did not possess Yuisen, Fang Li's chances of victory would still be very high.
Since his speed surpassed Kanzaki's, all he needed to do was use the Mystic Eyes to kill the strengthening magic on her body or destroy the nodachi in her hands, and the battle would basically be over.
But Kanzaki's Yuisen was simply too terrifying.
Those slashes that nearly reached the domain of the gods had placed Fang Li in mortal danger several times.
So in the end, it was merely a matter of compatibility.
"With Lady Diva's assistance, the Roman Catholic Church's combat forces were crushed, and the Anglican Church also stepped in to prove that Orsola's decoding method was false. In the end, the entire disturbance was settled," Stiyl continued. "Now, Orsola and the Amakusa-Style have been incorporated into the Anglican Church and are under our protection. From now on, they're basically our colleagues."
Hearing those words, Kanzaki's emotions became somewhat complicated.
But her expression still relaxed.
"Really… that's wonderful…" The girl's soft murmur faded away into the wind.
Fang Li and Sylvia exchanged glances, both smiling faintly.
And thus, the incident finally came to an end.
