-------------------------------------------------

One quiet afternoon, while construction continued deep within the mountain valley and the DMC handled its growing list of supernatural incidents, Jojo finally found a rare moment of peace.

He sat inside his mansion's study.

A cup of hot tea rested beside him.

Reports from various DMC branches were scattered across the table.

For once, nothing seemed to be on fire.

Unfortunately, peace never lasted long.

A soft notification echoed through the room.

Sara's holographic avatar appeared above the laptop.

The AI assistant looked unusually serious.

"New supernatural case registered."

Jojo took another sip of tea.

"How bad?"

Sara tilted her head.

"Potentially severe."

That immediately got his attention.

The laptop screen illuminated.

Files began appearing one after another.

Photographs.

Police reports.

Emergency calls.

Witness statements.

Jojo placed the tea cup down.

"Show me."

Sara enlarged the primary report.

A woman's photograph appeared first.

Beneath it was her statement.

Name: Beth Harper

Location: Los Angeles, California

Incident Classification: Possible Supernatural Possession

Jojo silently read through the report.

"My sister has been possessed by something."

The statement continued.

"It started three weeks ago."

"At first she became aggressive."

"Then she stopped sleeping."

"Stopped eating normal food."

"She keeps talking to herself."

"Sometimes her voice changes."

"She tried to attack me."

"Twice."

Jojo's eyes narrowed.

The report continued.

"My nephew and niece are terrified."

"They say their mother isn't their mother anymore."

"They say something else is inside her."

"Because she died and came back to life after half an hour."

The next page appeared.

A severe storm had struck the apartment complex several days earlier.

The damage reports were extensive.

Broken stairways.

Collapsed emergency exits.

Structural failures throughout the building.

Only one elevator remained functional.

Technically.

Photographs of the elevator appeared.

Jojo frowned.

The elevator looked terrible.

The interior walls appeared scratched.

Deep claw-like marks covered portions of the metal.

Several security cameras pointed toward it.

"What happened there?"

Sara immediately answered.

"No confirmed explanation."

She enlarged another photograph.

One of the elevator walls contained strange organic residue.

Dark.

Black.

Almost resembling mold.

Jojo's expression became more serious.

"Show me the similarity analysis."

Sara complied immediately.

Multiple case files appeared beside Beth's report.

Cases from Nevada.

Arizona.

New Mexico.

California.

All occurring within the last eighteen months.

Jojo stopped drinking tea entirely.

Because every file shared disturbing similarities.

Victims displayed increasingly aggressive behavior.

Loss of appetite.

Sleep abnormalities.

Changes in personality.

Then came violence.

Family members attacked.

Friends threatened.

Pets killed.

In several cases the victims described hearing voices before the transformation began.

Others reported dreams.

Whispers.

Strange black substances appearing near ventilation systems.

Then Sara enlarged the final section.

Potential Classification: Parasitic Supernatural Entity

Jojo leaned back in his chair.

Now things were getting interesting.

Parasites were among the most troublesome supernatural entities to deal with.

Because unlike spirits or monsters—

They hid.

Inside hosts.

Inside families.

Inside communities.

Often spreading before anyone realized what was happening.

Sara highlighted several witness descriptions.

"Something crawled into her mouth while she slept."

"Her eyes turned completely black."

"She smiles differently now."

"She keeps telling us we're next."

The room fell silent.

Jojo slowly stared at the reports.

Then at the photograph of Beth.

The woman looked exhausted.

Terrified.

Desperate.

The expression of someone who had already been ignored by everyone else.

After several moments, Jojo finally picked up his tea again.

Took a slow sip.

Then asked a question.

"Any deaths yet?"

Sara's holographic form flickered briefly.

"Not in this case."

A pause.

"However, seven previous cases matching this pattern resulted in fatalities."

Jojo nodded slowly.

That confirmed it.

This wasn't a random possession.

It was a pattern.

And patterns were dangerous.

Especially when they appeared in major cities.

Because if this thing truly was parasitic...

There was a very real possibility that Beth's sister wasn't the only host anymore.

Jojo stared at the map Sara projected above the table.

Multiple red dots illuminated across Southern California.

Far too many for his liking.

The old Ghost Rider instincts stirred quietly within him.

Something was wrong.

Very wrong.

And somewhere in Los Angeles...

A frightened woman named Beth was waiting for someone to believe her before whatever had taken her sister decided to move on to its next victim.

After staring at the case file for nearly ten more minutes, Jojo finally closed the laptop.

The room fell silent except for the faint ticking of a nearby clock and the soft sound of rain tapping against the mansion windows.

He leaned back in his chair and let out a long sigh.

The case itself wasn't particularly terrifying compared to some of the things he had dealt with over the years.

He had fought ancient spirits, demons, cursed entities, rogue supernatural creatures, and even things that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

Yet something about this one bothered him.

Not because it looked powerful.

Because it looked subtle.

Those were often the most troublesome.

A monster that announced its presence could be hunted.

A parasite hiding inside ordinary people was an entirely different matter.

Still, if he was being honest with himself, there was another reason he accepted the mission.

He was bored.

For nearly two years his life had become increasingly occupied with meetings, construction projects, recruitment drives, budgets, contractor reports, and enough paperwork to bury a small village.

The supernatural school project alone seemed capable of generating endless mountains of documents.

Just that morning he had spent nearly three hours reviewing security proposals and construction reports.

Before that he had attended a meeting regarding DMC expansion.

Before that he had been reviewing recruitment applications.

At this point even a dangerous possession case in Los Angeles sounded like a vacation.

Taking another sip of his tea, he pressed a button on his desk.

"Sara."

The AI assistant immediately appeared as a holographic projection above the laptop.

"Yes, Jojo?"

"Assign this case to me."

Sara blinked hearing him.

"Personally?"

"Personally."

The AI looked at him for several seconds.

"You are avoiding paperwork again."

Jojo looked offended.

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Your calendar says otherwise."

"I suddenly remembered why I built you."

Sara smiled at the screen.

"To make your life easier?"

"No."

Jojo pointed at her.

"To have someone to blame when things go wrong."

The AI rolled her eyes.

A gesture she had somehow learned from Alice.

"Should I prepare transport?"

"Yes."

Jojo stood up from his chair and stretched.

"Also call Leah."

Sara nodded.

"Understood."

About twenty minutes later Leah arrived at the mansion.

The werewolf walked into the study carrying a large cup of coffee.

She took one look at the files scattered across the table.

Then she looked at Jojo.

Then back at the files.

Then back at Jojo.

Her eyes narrowed as if she could understood what is going to happen.

Leah took a slow drink from her coffee.

"You're taking a supernatural case."

"Yes."

"You want me to go with you."

"Yes you are right."

She pointed toward the case file.

"And whatever is inside those reports is disgusting."

Jojo considered that.

"Probably."

Leah groaned and rubbed her forehead.

"I hope its not some pervert sprit."

Jojo grinned not giving her a good answer.

"That's why you're good at this."

Leah muttered something under her breath that was probably not very flattering.

Unfortunately for her, she was already curious.

After grabbing the file, she quickly began reading through the details.

The further she read, the more serious her expression became.

By the time she finished, she had stopped joking entirely.

"This doesn't look like a normal possession."

"It doesn't."

"You think it's spreading?"

"I think it's possible."

Leah nodded slowly.

That was all she needed to hear.

If there was even a chance innocent people were involved, she wasn't going to sit at home.

"Fine."

She tossed the file back onto the desk.

"I'm in."

As they began gathering equipment and preparing to leave, word quickly spread through the mansion.

That was usually how things worked.

Nothing remained secret for very long around their family.

Alice learned about it first.

Then Rosalie.

Then Bella who came with her daughter and her husband to meet alice.

Then everyone else.

Soon half the mansion seemed to be standing around discussing the case.

Bella sat on the couch while Renesmee occupied one of the nearby chairs reading a book far above her supposed age level.

"Los Angeles?" Bella asked.

Jojo nodded.

"Looks that way."

Edward frowned slightly.

"Possession?"

"Possibly."

"Parasite?"

"Maybe."

"That's not reassuring."

"It wasn't supposed to be."

Before anyone could continue, another voice interrupted them.

"Wait."

Everyone turned toward the doorway.

Standing there was Lorraine.

The ghost hunter looked between Jojo and Leah before crossing her arms.

The moment Leah saw that expression, she immediately groaned.

"No."

Lorraine ignored her completely.

"No what?" Jojo asked.

"No leaving without me."
