Chapter 67 - Kei

Listening to him, everyone looked at him in a pity after that traumatic experience he was still thinking about another, they all couldn't help but think that.

Everyone again looked at Agawa with unrealistic expectations. Well almost everyone as Kenji, Ayato and Kelly just kept looking at Daichi where as Ayase was looking at him with clear disgust and disdain. Miya and Airi felt like their world crashing down they both had blank expressions on their faces until Miya got out of Airi's loosened grip and hopped on Daichi beating him with all her power. Daichi just lay there without even fighting. Miya couldn't control herself and at last cried with all her might screaming and beating Daichi nonstop.

"How can you just abandon her? Didn't you like her? How can you just leave her all alone? Answer me?"

Looking at Miya beating down Daichi, everyone got confused and shocked for a second before Miki swiftly came to Daichi's rescue. She flung Miya away from Daichi and looked at her savagely.

"Didn't you hear him bitch? He tried but he was outnumbered. It isn't his fault that bitch died." Miki looked at Miya and said with a smirk.

Unexpectedly, it was Airi who was helping Miya, who bellowed furiously by listening to Miki's taunting.

"Shut up! She isn't dead."

For a second everyone became silent by the unexpected response from Airi, as they all looked at each other having no idea about their next steps. Looking at the situation becoming tense by the minute on the other hand going by the look on both Miya and Airi's face who were determined to get their friend back and looking at Agawa's fatigue filled with face with eyes shining in determination, Ayase had no choice but to intervene.

"Wait! We don't have any idea what actually happened out there so all of you just calm down, our arguing back and forth isn't going to help her."

"Then what do you suggest? We leave her alone out there."

Miya, who had calmed down a bit and was now trying to console Airi and replied irritatedly.

"No! this is not what I am saying, nobody is leaving anybody behind, some of us will go out there to look for her I am sure she is fine; I will be volunteering who else is coming."

To this Miya and Airi responded by stepping forward and nodding but aside from them nobody stepped forward everyone with modicum of intelligence already knew it was a lost cause to be blunt she was already dead if not going to be soon and nobody in their right mind is going to risk their life again even if the dungeon boss is dead the skeleton soldiers are still present and their numbers aren't lessening.

Just as Miya was about to lose her cool by looking at everyone's guilty faces and dodgy eyes, someone who was still looking towards the fog of ash suddenly broke out in cold sweat and pointed in that direction while screaming.

"So-someone is coming."

His scream brought everyone out of their reverie and instinctually everyone went into their preferred combat stance, simultaneously they all looked in the direction pointed by their classmate and saw a hazy figure slowly moving towards them with a tense and fearful look on their faces.

As seconds ticked by the figure of a woman came into view with a disheveled hair and limping figure, she had small cuts all over her body it was a surprise that she can even walk in that condition as she came into view everyone was shocked well everyone except one who started sweating cold as soon as he saw her, simultaneously Miya and Airi shouted in an almost synchronized tone.

"Kei", "Kei-Chan"

They both simultaneously ran into a sprint after shouting but as they went past Ayase they were both jerked back by her, being pulled back they both had an annoyed expression just as they were about to shout at Ayase they were both stopped by her stern glare after a moment when they calmed down, she spoke in grave tone.

"Look behind her"

Listening to Ayase's, everyone looked in front again witnessing an unbelievable sight. Behind Kei as far as they can see in that fog it was trimming with skeleton Soldiers following behind her like she was haunted by an army of ghost. Even if they want to save her it was impossible considering there mana was still not restored fully and most of them weren't in the situation to continue fighting or to say there will to fight was already destroyed seeing those dreadful skeleton again even Miya and Airi for their closest bond with Kei were stumped with fear not daring to take a single step, as the silenced prevail all over the group a weak helpless voice sounded breaking them out of their stupor.

"He...Help me"

Listening to the voice devoid of its usual arrogance and instead filled with helplessness stroked their hearts strings like never before. For some to see the class beauty in such a state her clothes disheveled with her shoulder dislocated and her one foot twisted in wrong direction and lumpingly running towards them pleading for help, with the monsters behind her devoid of any expression except the twinkling in their eyes and their deliberately slow steps indicating they were enjoying the hunt with the bridge close to destruction they didn't even care about their well-being or maybe as undead it doesn't matter to them, instigating the people in front of them with the determination to take as many of them as possible towards deaths door.

"What should we do now" Miya asked with disbelief etched on her face at the unbelievable sight before her, seeing Kei like that made her brain stopped working and she just looked at Airi not knowing what to do not only her everyone except a few looked at Ayase for what to do next but most of them already made their decision to stay back and wait for captain William even if they felt bad for Kei seeing those monsters again extinguished their will to fight anymore.

Kelly, from the very beginning, had been lost in his own world, his thoughts circling the knot in his chest as it tightened with each passing second. It wasn't that he lacked empathy for Miya and Airi's desperate pleas; it was simply who he was. He wasn't someone who would risk his life for a person he barely knew.

If there had been even the slightest chance to save her, he might have considered it. But faced with the skeletons, even he wasn't foolish enough to step out there, let alone believe he could save her while fighting them off.
