Walking into the police station that used to be a museum, Nick left the noisy city behind as it became very quiet as soon as the doors closed behind him.
Looking around at the large police station that had two sets of stairs and multiple pathways, Nick let out a smile at how familiar this all was.
'This is just like the game's layout! If my memory is correct, a regular licker is in the left corridor; he'll be a good replacement for my ghoul.'
The ghoul had an amazing ability to disguise Nick as someone else. The problem was that it had little combat ability. It granted him a little additional strength, but not a lot. Nick knew he could just get by with a face mask and gloves.
'Time to take out the Licker before entering NEST!'
NEST was the underground Umbrella Laboratory that was under the police station! It had both the G-virus and the DEVIL vaccine, both of which were needed for Nick to gain a healing factor.
The G-virus would infect Nick, genetically altering his cells to make them able to repair damage and grow new cells rapidly. Normally, this would regrow damaged or missing cells then continue growing a mass of flesh until you become a monster, but the DEVIL vaccine would stop that before it happened!
This was what happened to Sherry Birkin; she was infected by a G-virus parasite from her father but didn't become a monster because she got vaccinated with DEVIL. Afterwards, she gained powerful regeneration that allowed her to survive a hole in her stomach!
His only hiccup was the G-virus infection rate. Sherry received a parasite that infected her with the virus; it was slow-acting and allowed ample time to be vaccinated, but that wouldn't be the case for Nick.
Nick would have a syringe of the G-virus. This potent liquid would turn Nick into a monster within seconds if he injected the full thing into his neck. It would take some calculating but Nick was confident he could safely administer perfom this task.
Walking over to the reception desk, Nick noticed a zombie up the stairs. He was wearing a police uniform and shambling around.
Nick remembered he was an NPC in the game that was bitten and died. Nick shook his head, remembering that nobody was an NPC or story character; these were real people that actually suffered.
Wanting to put the man out of his suffering, Nick spotted a thin but sharp letter opener. Grabbing the thing, he snapped off the wooden handle, poured his telekinetic energy into the blade and made it levitate.
The blade whizzed through the air gracefully before taking off at the man, stabbing through the eye of the zombie and came out the other eye, scrabbling the brain and killing it.
'Lickers will be easy to kill; they have their brains exposed.' Nick began walking toward the open shutter, only after he took the gun from the Zombies holder.
Walking past it, Nick entered a little waiting room. He continued walking past the room until he saw another door that would lead to his prize.
As he pushed the door open, it squeaked loudly in this eerily silent police station.
Looking ahead, Nick saw that just barely visible, a shadow on the ceiling quickly turned a corner, disappearing from sight!
This would've been horrifying for Nick if not for his Echolocation that was working incredibly well in this silent building. He saw that just around the corner was the Licker waiting!
He didn't even give it a chance, this thing had a powerful long tongue that could kill him if not careful. He made the letter opener soar through the air slowly, Lickers were totally blind but had amazing hearing so he couldn't move fast
It was thanks to this that Nick's silent blade found zero resistance as it pierced through the Licker's open brain and began cutting the creature's brain to chunks!
The beast couldn't even let out a noise as it fell from the ceiling with a thud, Its body lay unmoving as Nick began turning the corners.
As this happened, a zombie burst through the glass window and fell to the floor next to him. This would've been a jumpscare im the game but Nkck just stomped its head in as he walked over to the dead Licker.
If this actually were a video game, Nick would've been severely over-leveled for this area. His only real challenge would be Mr. X and the emutating William Birkin. Even then, the only reason they'd be a challenge was because they had an insane regeneration abilities, not because they were overwhelmingly strong.
Dipping his thumb into the blood-brain of the Licker, Nick pressed it onto the Ghoul symbol on his arm. The pain came immediately as the Licker turned to particles and flew into his arm while the ghoul particles flew off into the air and disappeared.
Nick felt his strength, speed, durability, and hearing increase greatly. With a thought, his nails turned into large, incredibly sharp claws!
Placing his hand on the wall, Nick felt tiny hair-like bristles appear on his hand that hooked into the wall. With a yank, he found himself crawling on the walls like Sam Raimi's Spiderman!
Looking at the end of the hallway, Nick activated the ability on his tongue and was shocked, feeling his tongue transform into an incredibly hard spike that shot out of his mouth! His tongue slammed into the wall at the end of the hallway. It was at least 25ft away, but even still, Nick's tongue pierced through the concrete wall!
These abilities were what Nick expected, the biggest boon however was the Licker's hearing. When combined with the Orca's Echolocation and empowered hearing by Chi, Nick heard everything going on within the mansion!
He heard the shambling of zombie officers, the running of a human, and the stomping of what was no doubt Mr. X!
Walking back to the main lounge area, Nick passed by another window with a zombie at it. Surprisingly, the thing wasn't beating on the glass upon seeing Nick.
Curious, Nick punched the glass open and dragged the zombie in by its neck. It looked at Nick for a second before turning its head. It wasn't trying to bite him at all!
'These zombies, they must think that I'm a Licker and aren't attacking me!' Nick inadvertently camouflaged himself from the zombies.
With a thought, Nick's nails turned to razor-sharp claws that decapitated the zombie.
'This will save me a lot of trouble dealing with the zombies. I just need to enter the Umbrella underground Laboratory to get the virus and the vaccine now.'
In the game, the only way to get to the underground Laboratory named NEST was through a series of puzzles and tasks you had to do in order to exit the police station from the underground parking lot. Thankfully, this wasn't a game and Nick wasn't confined by invisible walls, he could simply exit the building and go around back.
As he walked back towards the main lobby, Nick suddenly felt the building shake as a bomb went off! Quickly walking up the stairs, Nick spotted that two of the three medallions had already been placed. That explosion signaled the third medallion was obtained and they were heading back here to place it.
'That bomb means that they're about halfway through the tasks required to enter NEST. I better hurry up or I'll be interrupted.'
Ripping the shirt off of the officer named Marvin, Nick used the letter opener to cut two holes in the shirt before he wrapped it around his face as a makeshift mask.
Upon exiting the police department, Nick activated the creepers wings as they tore through his clothings and unfurled. The sound of screaming had died down as most people had already been flown away on Nick's drones or already turned.
With a swipe of his wings, Nick took off to the underground Umbrella base nearby!
