She has reminded him of bad memories with her words. That wasn't very tactful.
"Really? Thank you." He nodded with a grateful smile. "By the way, I still don't know your name."
In truth, he is a little touched. This girl has only met him just now, and has already taken him in and promised to buy him a phone.
And with the knowledge of her personality from Madoka Magica, Adam knows that this girl doesn't have any bad ulterior motives.

Seeing her noticeably warmer attitude, Adam mirrored her smile

Or in other terms: It increased her favorability.
It's slightly immoral, but he isn't lying; he truly has no family or friends in this world. He just concealed the 'world' part.
As for why he is acting like a manipulative scumbag? Well, the silver-haired boy simply likes Mami's personality and wants to give her companionship.
He, Asterios Adam Tempest Kaslana Raiden, hates seeing beautiful girls lonely the most!

Mami took Adam to a mobile phone store and bought him a recently popular model.
Though the silver-haired boy felt a little uneasy after getting the phone. He now has a feeling that he is being kept as a sugar baby by Tomoe Mami.
"By the way, where do you live now?"
After buying him the promised phone, Mami finally seemed to remember this very important matter and asked him directly.
"Hm…I don't have a specific place. Perhaps under a bridge or a forest will do." He put a hand under his chin, then shook his head. "No, let's make it only forest so that you'll be able to find me more easily."
Living in a forest sounds cool. At best, he can make a bubble surrounding his body to sleep without interruptions. At worst, he could just make a temporary house.
Expanding on that, he doesn't even need to use the countless supplies he has in his [Stomach], he can just use the Wood Release, which he developed with Chakra.
"You live in a place like this?!"
Mami Tomoe's golden eyes widened, and her voice became louder and higher-pitched.

Fruits and vegetables are even less of a problem. Just implant their genetic code into the Earth, and then catalyze their growth so that they can reach full maturity and harvest within minutes.
"I use my powers to protect others, not make money."
The boy shrugged nonchalantly with no trace of regret, hesitation, or lingering sadness on his face.
He does use his powers to protect others...occasionally. But it's obviously not the only thing he uses his power for.
And of course, there hasn't really ever been a need to use his powers money- after all, money really isn't an issue for him.
"Protect others..."
The Magical Girl beside him murmured, chewing on these words.
At this moment, Mami feels that Adam might really be a true hero- just as he had said previously.
It is so noble to use your power solely to protect others!
Mami herself admits that she isn't that pure. And she can't maintain such a firm belief in the face of hardships.
Thinking of their almost similar experiences, a pang of pity arose in her heart for him.

"If it's not a bother, then please take me in."
He clasped his hands together, not refusing the girl's good intentions.
"Um…" She paused, "Come with me."
Mami is actually a little nervous.
She is going to live alone with a boy she has just met!
The Magical Girl realised only now the implications of her words. In a moment of emotional distress, she said something very impulsive- it's a little annoying.
But she can't take back her words; she didn't want to make this boy, who has similar experiences to hers, sad.

"Come on, don't be sad!" The silver-haired boy leaned closer, clapping lightly as he spoke with a grin. "Now there will be the two of us in this house!"
A lonely little Magical Girl all alone for picking- err, for accompanying!
"Hmph!" Mami crossed her arms with a huff, her expression haughty. "You're just a mere assistant."
But the slight curve of her lips is undeniable- she is actually quite happy.
And so, Adam moved into Mami's house, becoming her sugar baby.

Mami clasped her hands together, looking on expectantly as Adam tasted the black tea she had just brewed.
"It's very good." Adam nodded in approval. "This is the best black tea I've ever had."
Of course, he doesn't even have a good point of comparison. He doesn't drink black tea.
But personally, being served tea by a beautiful Magical Girl… This automatically makes it the best tea ever!
…It can only be surpassed by the tea personally served by a beautiful maid- like Rita.
Hm, with his relationship with Bianka, perhaps he could ask to borrow Rita for a day?
"Seriously, is it okay to slack off every day like this?"
Adam sipped his black tea, feeling bored.
From yesterday up until now, he has been eating, sleeping, and occasionally going out for a stroll.
Except for talking with Homura and practising together with Great Sage in secret, he has been doing nothing productive!
Mami would prepare breakfast for him every day, save lunch for him, and cook dinner when she got home from school.

What a joke! Even if she whispers, it'll still sound clear in his superpowered ears!
"I-it's nothing!" The blonde momentarily froze, but she quickly shook her head. "I was just thinking that, since you're bored, let's go out for a walk!"
The little, innocent Magical Girl hurriedly changed the subject and tried to divert Adam's attention.
The silver-haired boy gave her a neutral look, and Mami avoided his gaze.
'You really are….'
He inwardly shook his head, feeling that, despite being a seasoned magical girl, Tomoe Mami was still too green!
If he were a bit more shameless, he could probably trick her into giving birth to an entire football team for him, right?

Despite being used as a diversionary tactic, Adam and Mami actually changed their clothes and went out together for a stroll.

Combined with her blonde hair, it fits her really well. In fact, it makes her look elegant and poised- like a gentle noble lady.
"Looks great!"
The silver-haired boy boldly flashed her a thumbs-up without hiding the pure appreciation in his eyes.
"T-thank you! Let's go!
She hurriedly grasped his shoulder and pushed him forward towards the door as a blush arose again on her face.
