Chapter 198 - Speedrunning Walpurgisnacht

After having afternoon tea, the group of three active girls and one silent boy started animatedly chatting.

"Mami-senpai, how long have you known Adam?"

Sayaka Miki was always very interested in this. They seem to be very, very close. While she wants to assume they've known each other for years, she wants to know the specific amount!

"..."

Madoka Kaname also perked up, her ears wide open. She is also full of curiosity about this.

"It hasn't been that long..."

Mami glanced at Adam with hesitation, her expression a little shy.

"I met Mami after I saved Madoka that day."

Seeing this magical girl opening and closing her mouth again and again with reluctance, Adam spoke up and took the initiative to answer Sayaka's question.

"Huh?!"

The blue-eyed girl gaped at them. She looked at Adam, and then at Mami, and then back and forth continuously.

"It's only been a few days!" Sayaka slapped her hands on her thighs. "How did your relationship progress so quickly?"

"N-no, we're just ordinary friends." The blond magical girl stuttered and started waving her arms around in denial. "Adam is just staying at my house temporarily."

Mami Tomoe will obviously never admit to such a thing right now.

It's not even close to happening yet. Nothing is official.

And….At least Adam should confess first, right?

"....."

At this moment, Madoka lowered her head. Now, she feels sad yet again.

Doesn't this mean that she was the one who knew Adam first, but someone else beat her to it...?

She admits that she can't compare to Mami-senpai. After all, Mami is cool, elegant, and gentle. She can also cook delicious meals and brew black tea.

But… Madoka arrived first... she still feels a little resentful.

If they were so close because they knew each other for years, she'd feel that it was only natural- but this isn't the case at all!

"Haah......"

Madoka sighed almost imperceptibly, keeping these girlish thoughts to herself.

She continued to smile as usual, chatting with her friends without any obvious changes.

At this girlie tea party, Adam didn't participate much. He just listened quietly as they talked about topics that were popular at their age and occasionally let out small laughs.

The silver-haired boy didn't have much desire to chat about such things. His combined mental age wouldn't allow him.

However, he is completely satisfied by simply admiring the youthful energy and the innocence they exude.

It's very purifying on the soul- especially after what he had experienced in GGZ.

What wonderful, peaceful days... but unfortunately, they are destined not to last.

Or rather, it's fortunate. A peaceful everyday life is too boring for him.

..

.

These uneventful days continued for another half a month.

With Homura Akemi watching over them like an overprotective mother hen, neither Madoka Kaname nor Sayaka Miki were able to become Magical Girls in this timeline.

But regardless of whether they are Magical Girls or not, Mitakihara will eventually welcome its end—Walpurgisnacht.

Fate will not change

…..

On this day, the sky above Mitakihara turned gray, a fierce wind raged through the city, the trees along the roadside were bent over and groaned, and the streets became desolate.

Thunder roared, and heavy rain dropped to the ground.

Tap

Tap

Tap

As raindrops fell, a beautiful blond-haired girl in her magical girl musketeer outfit and a silver-haired boy in a long black coat appeared together.

Mami Tomoe and Adam stood on a tall building, sheltered from all these phenomena by the silver-haired boy.

"What… is that?"

Mami gasped. As she stared at the faintly visible figure in the air, she felt a shiver of fear.

"That's Walpurgisnacht, the strongest witch."

The blond magical girl flinched at the sudden, unrecognizable female voice.

Turning around, she saw Homura Akemi, who had suddenly appeared here at some point without notice.

This black-haired girl is also looking at the figure in the sky, but with a complicated expression.

"Are you a magical girl too?" Mami frowned, but then her expression immediately eased. "You're here to help, right?"

Homura remained silent, but the blond girl took that as an affirmation.

"That's great! It would be very difficult to face this witch alone."

She breathed a sigh of relief, pleasantly surprised to see Homura of all people appear here in the state of a magical girl.

"I'm not here to deal with Walpurgisnacht." The black-haired regressor shook her head in denial. "And it's impossible for just the two of us to defeat it."

"Huh? But-"

Mami opened her mouth, but she didn't manage to say much before she was interrupted:

"He's the main force in dealing with Walpurgisnacht."

Under her golden brown widening eyes, Homura pointed at the silent Adam, who was standing calmly to the side as he watched both of them.

"Adam?" Mami snapped her head towards the silver-haired boy, and then back to Homura. "But he…!"

"You don't really think he's weak, do you?"

The blond magical girl's sharp stare wavered as Homura interrupted her yet again.

"Sorry, Mami." Adam stepped forward with an apologetic smile. "I'm actually quite strong."

"...."

The aforementioned girl bit her lip, lowering her head

She refused to believe it. Adam had kept it from her for so long, and though she didn't want to, right now, both of them look very serious.

"Can I help too?"

Mami looked up, looking at Adam, and then looking at Homura. On her face, there was no blame, no anger- only an earnest desire to assist them.

The blond magical girl isn't concerned about how strong the silver-haired boy is- she doesn't care one bit.

Right now, she's merely worried about him.

"No need, this is something I promised." Adam refused her decisively. "And whatever happens, I can survive."

After reassuring Mami, Adam shifted his brilliant blue eyes towards the horizon.

'Walpurgisnacht…..I wonder how strong she is?'

..

.

Meanwhile, at Madoka Kaname's home:

Staring out of her window at the weather outside and recalling its abrupt change, the pink haired girl started feeling a sense of unease- as if doom was suddenly approaching.

"What happened?" Madoka clutched her heart "Why am I so panicked?"

She got up in the morning out of bed like usual. However, after brushing her teeth and getting ready to go to school, the weather suddenly changed.

Instantly after- palpitations stung at her heart, along with an oncoming feeling of dread.

"The Walpurgisnacht has arrived."

Kyubey suddenly reappeared in her room like magic- as if it was always there.

"Kyubey?" Madoka's mouth gaped as she looked at the now alive and intact cutest cat/rabbit "You're not dead?!"

Madoka is very surprised to see Kyubey suddenly appear intact as if nothing happened. After all, she had personally witnessed Homura blow its head off back then.

 "And…. what's this 'Walpurgisnacht'?"

Despite being confused at the fact it's still alive, the pinkette's ear caught something more important.

"That is the strongest Witch:"

Kyubey yet again ignored her earlier question and instead focused on the Witch matter.

"Unlike other witches, it does not need to hide its body in a barrier. It can cause physical destruction with malice. It can also create a massive hurricane and generate thousands of human victims simply by existing."

The white creature stopped there. It looked at her and-

"In other words, Mitakihara is about to be destroyed."

Those words were delivered in a chillingly calm tone. It's as if it were stating merely a fact.

"How could this be?!"

Madoka gasped, covering her mouth with horror in her eyes. Completely incredulous, her body started lightly trembling.

"This is true. I'm not lying to you."

Kuybey shook its head, keeping its blank stare on her.

"No!"

The pinkette suddenly shook her head, a spark of hope igniting in her eyes.

"Mami-senpai and Adam are still here; They will definitely stop this!"

Madoka clenched her fist. She firmly believes that her hero will save the entire Mitakihara- just as he saved her last time!

"Them?" Kyubey tilted its head. "You may not know, but Walpurgisnacht has already buried countless magical girls. One or two is just sending them to their deaths."

-Mami Tomoe will probably end up like all the magical girls of the past. That's what it thinks.

As for Adam, Kyubey deliberately didn't mention him. In fact, it had been closely observing this person ever since he suddenly appeared in this world out of nowhere.

Kyubey wasn't stupid. It's impossible for an alien uncategorized from the Incubators to suddenly appear on this planet.

The only answer is: He's from another world/universe/plane/dimension/multiverse.

However, it did not rush to contact Adam. Instead, it wants to test him with the Walpurgisnacht incident.

"T-this….How could this be...?"

Madoka's expression became crestfallen.

"But…"

The pink-haired girl's eyes snapped to Kyubey as it started talking again:

"With you, there won't be any problem."

"I?"

Madoka paused, her eyebrows furrowing in bewilderment

"Madoka Kaname, you possess the strongest potential I have ever seen." The white animal looked at her with red eyes of 'sincerity'. "If you can become a magical girl, you will definitely be able to stop all of this."

Madoka truly possesses a lot of Magical Girl potential. If she turns into a Witch, the quality of the energy generated by her emotions would be equivalent to that of multiple witches.

"C-can I really do it?"

The chosen pink-haired girl clutched her clothes tightly at her chest, her expression conflicted.

"Of course, you'll definitely become the most powerful magical girl!"

Kyubey obviously egged her on.

"I..."

The images of Adam and Mami flashed through Madoka's mind.

Her decision has been made! She needs to stop hesitating!

..

.

"Flood!"

Walpurgisnacht has fallen.

Before the silver-haired boy named Adam, it didn't even last ten minutes before it was imprisoned by a high-pressure mass of deep blue-bordering-on-black oceanic water.

The water clung to the monster's form, binding it and also siphoning away the despair that powered it.

"Amazing…!"

Mami Tomoe exclaimed in surprise from afar as she watched Adam so easily subdue Walpurgisnacht. Her golden brown eyes were filled with his figure, along with amazement.

When she actually saw Walpurgisnacht fully reveal herself, she was overwhelmed with fear. She thought she was going to die here today.

The overwhelming sense of oppression made even this magical girl, who had fought against many Witches, a little scared.

…..

"It seems he wasn't lying to me."

A smile appeared on Homura's usually expressionless face.

She had been closely watching this battle from the side. The black-haired girl was helpless to help, since against Witches, she really isn't that strong.

'Great! Madoko, I did it this time!'

She exhaled, as if releasing all the stress accumulated from these countless cycles.

Even though Adam hadn't managed to kill Walpurgisnacht in this little time, Homura is confident that if he is given more time, he can definitely do it.

"Well, that's that, I suppose."

Seeing the Walpurgisnacht constantly howling and struggling, Adam showed no mercy and clenched his fist.

The water churned and condensed, pressuring the body of this witch even more. Although she wasn't dead yet, she was close. A bit more of this, and this witch will be ready to be devoured by the silver-haired boy.

As Adam landed slowly, both Homura Akemi and Mami Tomoe rushed over.

"Adam! Are you alright?"

The blond-haired magical girl looked at him with concern.

Even though the fight seemed easy, she knew how difficult an opponent this Witch was.

"I'm fine. Didn't you see how easily I solved it?"

The silver-haired boy chuckled, but he didn't shrug her off.

"Thank you so much, Adam."

Homura, who was also watching from the side, stepped forward.

She stared straight at him, her eyes filled with excitement, joy, and deep gratitude.
