I stared at the muscular back of my younger brother. "Yeomse, I don't need any rescueing."
He scoffed. "Liar! I saw how you were getting pushed back by a mere priest who isn't even letting his mana bleed out for you to devour!"
Yeomse didn't turn around, his broad shoulders shifting as he loosely spun one of his heavy metal fans, trailing ribbons of crimson fire through the air in a hypnotic rhythm. His posture was light, resting on the balls of his feet like a dancer waiting for the music to strike.
"You were about to get your skull caved in, sister," Yeomse drawled, his tone dripping with arrogant amusement. "If Father saw you struggling like this against someone relying almost entirely on physical conditioning, he'd lock you in the abyssal kennels for a century."
