Had Ben Lucas not been certain that the person before him was still Harrison Lucas, with 'his' left shoulder stained with blood, and even the motion of cutting open the vest might cause the wound to bleed now and then, Ben Lucas would certainly suspect that the Harrison Lucas before him had been replaced.
Overcome with suspicion, Ben Lucas painstakingly unfastened the straps of the vest, slicing through the fabric piece by piece.
After cutting through four vests consecutively, Ben Lucas finally removed the four layers of binding from Harrison Lucas.
However—
With the vest removed, what appeared before him was an even stranger scene.
Harrison Lucas's slender neck and narrow shoulders were now fully exposed in front of him.
Yet, as his gaze descended, he saw a strange piece of cloth wrapped around Harrison Lucas's body.
The white cloth was like gauze, but somewhat thicker and broader than gauze, wrapped layer upon layer around Harrison Lucas.
