When Aldana woke up, she could vaguely see the dark land outside the window.
Her heart couldn't help but feel secretly excited, and a hint of longing appeared on her face.
Philip had left at some unknown time; the place he slept last night was already cool, as if he had never been there.
Aldana had other things on her mind and didn't pay attention to this. She supported herself with a cane into the bathroom to wash up, then changed clothes and went downstairs.
Ellen, holding freshly fried eggs, came out and saw Aldana coming down the stairs. Smiling, she said, "You're up? Eric's making noodles inside; just wait a little," she pointed to the side of the deck, "Philip's outside. If you're not busy, go call him in for breakfast."
Aldana agreed, turned, and walked toward the deck. There she saw Philip lying on the deck, his long legs sticking out, sunbathing face up.
