Nathan Leafcastle lightly lifted his eyebrows. "Where do you live? Let me take you home."
"No need, I'll take the subway."
Nathan Leafcastle glanced at her hands resting on her knees. "Are you sure... do you have your keys?"
A single sentence jolted her into realization.
In her haste to leave, she had left her bag in the private room—with her wallet, phone, keys... all her belongings inside.
"Then..." she hesitated slightly. "Can you lend me some money? For the subway."
"Vera!" Nathan Leafcastle frowned and gently gripped her shoulder. "Are you really cutting ties with me?"
Vera Wave lowered her head.
"I... I am too ashamed to face you."
Nathan Leafcastle furrowed his brow and retracted his hand.
"Let's go back to the mansion."
"Brother Nathan..."
"I have something to say to you. After I'm done, if you still insist on leaving, I'll have the driver take you."
Vera Wave bit her lip and said no more.
