Episode(78)- Let's get serious
SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(78)
[Tch....arrogant human!]
Yagar tightened his wrists putting more force into the hands gripping the axe as it forced Nagisa out of the air.
Bang!
The sound was heavy! The collision forceful!
Still, even while flying back Nagisa twisted his body regaining his balance and landed nimbly with ease.
At the same time his knees bent and with a tense of the muscles in his legs, he leapt high off the ground he somersaulted away.
Almost at the same time the heavy axe large enough to cover the sky crashed down on his previous position.
The axe blade was so sharp it sliced deep into the ground like butter. Yet, due to the heavy force of behind Yagar the ground caved and shattered spreading dust and debris.
[Don't avoid! Face it like a man human!]
Nagisa snorted.
As if-
'Idiot! Who'd listen to that!?'
If he really stopped moving to face the attacks he would really deserve to be split in half by that axe.
Mid air, Nagisa rotated his body and drew Hopeless from his shadow sending out a compressed blade of ice.
Shu!
With an unstoppable momentum, the blade of ice cut through the air arriving before Yagar could even react.
Squelch!
Skin was cut open and flesh tore until the bone could be seen. The hand it used to block the attack was nearly severed and mangled barely hanging by the loose threads of flesh.
Even so, Yagar wore an excited expression and instead laughed as if the attack did nothing to him at all.
[Haha, fool!]
He walked over to the axe that had been thrown earlier and grabbed the handle slowly pulling it from the ground as he continued.
[Doth yee think such a pathetic attack can make me itch?]
Ridiculous!
With its healing factor, wounds of this level weren't even life threatening!
Indeed, Nagisa nodded as he recognized the healing speed.
The arm that had almost been cut off was already healing at a pace where it would be as good as new in a few more seconds.
But-
[Hey now, don't write me off that easily]
Nagisa made a gesture pointing at the healed arm.
Yagar wore a look of puzzlement.
However, curiously it looked down only to be stunned by what it saw.
The wound had stopped healing and starting from the cut as the center, his entire arm had begun freezing.
What made it worse was that this effect was continuing to spread even after nearly covering his entire forearm.
Yagar felt that if this was allowed to continue, not just his right arm but his entire body might be encased in ice soon.
In the same moment a voice echoed in the large space.
[Your the idiot, clown-]
Looking at the troll, only mockery remained in his tone.
[Judge me by human standards and you'll die]
The words were extremely cold and left a chill in his heart.
Almost as if those words carried more ice than the ice covering his entire arm.
After the fear, recognizing that he was scared by a puny human made Yagar angry.
[GAAAAH!!!!]
Its magical energy soared.
Mana like a storm swept the surroundings causing Nagisa's clothes to flutter and strands of his hair to dance.
[I Yagar, champion of the troll tribe will kill you!!]
It was like an earthquake, the ground shook and the walls trembled! The chains extending from the walls to the arena groaned under the weight of this pressure.
Yet, Nagisa only chuckled hearing these words.
[Haha]
He shrugged.
[Then, you're welcome to try...at least seeing you struggle before you croak would be entertaining]
A wild, confident grin formed on his face.
What made Yagar even more indignant was that there was no arrogance in this humans eyes.
Only overflowing confidence. As if saying him dying was only a matter of course.
How could it stand a tiny human believing themselves more powerful than itself?
Quietly, Yagar stretched out his right arm and picked up the axe.
?
Nagisa watched him warily wondering what it was up to, but the next moment he opened his eyes in surprise.
This was because, without even a hint of hesitation, Yagar had swung down his axe cleaving off his right arm before the chill could spread any further.
[...Well, I guess that's one way to stop it]
But, as if it wanted to vent. The troll's face twisted and its murderous gaze locked unto Nagisa.
[Kill! I'll kill you! Kill youuu!!]
Boom!
The magical energy surrounding Yagar surged once more even more wild and untamed than before.
The force blasted away loose pieces of rubble and Nagisa unconsciously raised a hand to block his eyes even though it was unnecessary.
It was then, Yagar vanished at a speed impossible when comparing his large frame.
By the time Nagisa realized that Yagar had vanished, the huge curved blade of the axe glided close to the ground cleaving dust and gravel ready to slice him in two.
Instinctively, Nagisa titled his body to the side and rolled underneath the attack.
Yikes!
It was a close call.
Had his reaction speed not been fast enough he would have definitely been split in two.
However Yagar was far from over, As soon as the axe missed its target, he stomped heavily on the ground anchoring his center of gravity before he place strength into his hands.
With a forceful twist, he sent the axe back in the opposite direction.
Not even a second after he rolled out of the way, the axe blade dug through the earth ready to split open his side.
Even so, Nagisa who should have been unable to avoid the attack planted a hand on the ground before hoisting his body up and over with a nimble twist.
Yagar was even more angry after missing its two attacks and spun his body before slashing upwards towards Nagisa.
A blade of mana cut through the air but Nagisa easily managed to evade the attack with a retreat to the side.
'Its too wild'
Nagisa concluded facing the flurry of attacks that came his way.
He had to admit that the trolls power was enough to leave him with a broken bone even if he defended with magic, even so it'll just leave it wide open and unable to counter afterwards.
After he made this observation, Nagisa's eyes sharpened.
He ignored the wild attacks that came his way occasionally shifting his position with nimble moves while closing the distance.
With a final leap over the axe, he landed behind the troll in a crouching position and drew his sword.
Shu!
In an instant, Yagar had the arteries and tendons in his heel severed.
He only felt wobbly, his vision twisted like his balance was off and was unable to stand properly.
Wobbling, Yagar had to let go of his axe.
The head of the axe slammed into the ground causing an earthquake like tremble.
Still, it couldn't just lose balance like this?
No, Yagar folded a fist and slammed it down as he fell gathering the momentum to make the force even more powerful.
Rumble!
Along with the fist, the earth caved in and split and fragments of earth scattered like broken glass.
Yet, it hadn't even come close to hitting Nagisa.
Yagar who realized this had his heel partially healed and stood up as it spurted blood swinging his hand into the air.
At the same time, the figure falling from the sky in a freefall twisted his body and drew his sword.
Thanks to inertia, a sword light trailed his falling figure and hopeless gripped in his hand cleanly severed Yagar's huge hand completely from the elbow.
Even so, trolls were inherently a barbaric tribe that didn't care about injury.
With the remaining left arm it grabbed the axe and roared.
[AAAAAAGGGGH!]
Normally Nagisa wouldn't care and would just look for a chance to evade and counter but this time was different.
He felt as if some skill was being activated and jumped back.
Still, it was already too late.
The axe blade struck the spot he had been mere moments ago. It had missed, indeed no contact was made.
Yet, a powerful shockwave blasted earth along with Nagisa into the air.
The shockwave blasted him far into the air he was already over the platform about to fall into the abyss of darkness.
However Nagisa didn't panic, instead he used the flying debris around himself as footholds to grab unto the huge chain before hoisting himself up unto it and leaping back to the platform with a few steps.
At this time the rage in Yagar's eyes seemed to have calmed down somewhat and he was breathing heavily while glaring at Nagisa.
[Human!...Don't.....get cocky!]
Nagisa placed hopeless, still giving off frost over his shoulder and chuckled.
[Say that when you can actually land a hit]
Yagar grunted and his hand holding the axe clenched even tighter. This human was really being too conceited.
However the next words made him pause slightly.
[Also, lets stop playing around and really go all out shall we?]
It was easy to see that the troll before him wasn't giving the previous bout his all.
To be honest neither of them were.
What mad man started a battle without feeling the other party out?
Such fools often ended up paying dearly when their opponent pulled out a sacrificial move or weapon.
[....Indeed, I champion Yagar hate to admit but thine human is really strong!]
Yagars angry expression vanished into a cool one as he nodded and spoke.
[But, it's because yee are might why Yagar must destroy you]
Nagisa grinned, his smile almost touching his ears.
[Exactly what I wanted]
...
....
...
Boom!
A sound like a thunderous explosion rang out in the space.
The axe cut through the air towards Nagisa who was airborne intending to cut him it half.
Now that Yagar no longer held back, Nagisa also didn't plan to pull his punches.
Instead, he held hopeless to the side while channeling his abundant mana into the sword making it all the more sturdy and sharp.
The axe blade slammed into the sword, however, Nagisa didn't even tremble. Still, with the weight distribution so uneven Nagisa was still sent flying through the air.
Landing, his feet nearly went over the ledge but he ignored it and immediately sprang back into battle.
Just as Nagisa prepared to perform a sword technique, Yagar stomped a foot to the ground and along with it a powerful shockwave caused the earth to tremble.
Huh?
Nagisa only felt gravity invert and it was like his body freely floated.
[Tch!]
'So he doesn't need to use a weapon to activate the skill'
Nagisa watched as the axe blade dug up ground cutting towards his face unable to avoid.
Instead he held the sword before him taking the attack head on.
Clang!
The axe hit the sword but was unable to cut through it and instead sent Nagisa flying into the air.
This time he was sent over the long arching bridge leading to the entry of the boss room. With a twist of his body he was able to easily land on his feet.
At the same time he twisted his wrist.
'Did it add that force attack to its move?'
Before, although Nagisa could say it was strong Nagisa never once felt threatened by its strength.
After all, even without a defensive talent or skill all he needed to do was coat his weapon in mana and he had an abundance of that so it didn't matter.
However it seemed the troll instinctively added its shockwave technique into it's last attack.
It was slightly worrying but Nagisa paid it no mind. In the end, the troll king had cards and he had cards as well.
Yagar on the other hand grunted realizing his attack hadn't split Nagisa into bloody halves.
[Sneaky human!]
