CHAPTER 95 : TYRANT
Eleanora couldn't help the small smile tugging at her lips. For the first time since the accident, the room felt almost normal.
Evander shifted slightly in his bed, though he remained unconscious.
Anastasia glanced at him again, her expression softening briefly before she looked back at Alexander.
"I appreciate the concern," she said more quietly now. "But I don't want to live inside a cage."
Alexander's expression softened a fraction. "It's temporary."
"That's what you always say." Anastasia had seen her fair share of life too. She knew what stayed and what went by - like the current arrangements, that didn't seem temporary at all.
Christian rubbed his temple slowly. "This conversation is going exactly how I predicted."
Eleanora tilted her head. "And how was that?"
Christian glanced at Alexander. "Chaotic."
"Let's compromise," he suggested after a beat.
Three pairs of eyes turned toward him.
"You'll have protection," he continued. "But discreet."
