Sai straightened his posture, assuming the bearing of a perfect gentleman. The transformation was striking. Dressed in the suit Katarina had provided, he carried himself with such refinement that even she struggled to reconcile this composed figure with the man she knew.
"But…" Sai continued, his tone sharpening just slightly, "I cannot tolerate you directing killing intent toward my fiancée."
"I understand." Belphegor responded with a small, easy smile. He placed a hand over his chest and dipped his head in a polite bow. "I apologize for startling you."
This last part was directed at Katarina, and as he finished, he gave her a playful wink.
Sai's expression did not change outwardly, but inwardly, he scowled. On the surface, he merely frowned, his eyes narrowing as he cast Belphegor a quiet warning.
