( Ena's POV )
Ann complained that the shopping app wasn't working. I looked over Ann's shoulder and saw an error message appear on her screen, the thing worked out well for me, so I had to think that the problem was the items she was buying.
What she wanted to buy were clothes, makeup, and other hygiene products that will be vital if we stay here for a long time, Obviously, Iwai's store didn't stock that kind of thing, and therein lay the problem.
Ena: It seems that if we don't find the right seller and store, we won't have access to the app's full catalog.
Ann: That doesn't make sense, who designed this?
The mall we found had everything Ann wanted, but there was no one running the place, and when we tried to download the location on our phones, we got a warning that the place belonged to someone else, that didn't align with what happened with Kyoko's office, and the abandoned motorcycle shop we found, and I couldn't see an obvious reason why, I'm sure the motorcycle shop belonged to someone else and we were able to take it over; perhaps the owner had already passed away and that's the reason. It's impossible to know for sure at this moment.
Ena: I'm sure we'll have access to those eventually; we've done quite well so far.
Ann: Yeah, I guess you're right.
Thanks to the addiction of Iwai's store, we were able to arm ourselves and better prepare for our next objective.
We had to bring the people from the school to this safe territory; frankly, that seemed like a bothersome task to me, many teachers and the school principal will definitely be bothering us and giving stupid demands and orders, but I couldn't abandon the rest of the students, they did not deserve to be punished by this unforgivable world, Mitsuru was there and she was very capable, but the school had hardly any defenses, and if a large group of demons mounts an attack bigger than the one I stopped before, they will be lost.
That's why as soon as we recovered from the exhaustion of the previous missions, we made our way back to school, With our new vehicles, going to school was easy; it was the return trip that was going to be difficult, because we had to escort a large number of people back to our base.
Although that was only for the people who decided to return with us, it was Mitsuri's job to convince them that this was the best option for survival, I wasn't going to beg and plead for the privilege of taking care of them; if they don't want to leave, that's their choice.
We arrived at school with all the noise our vehicle engines made; we didn't have to notify Mitsuru of our arrival, She, along with other students who I believe were volunteer helpers, moved the hastily created barricades.
They had their phones ready as soon as they left the school perimeter, so I guess they're some of the ones Mitsuri shared the demon summoning app with.
Ena: Hey Mitsuru, I trust everything is ready for the excursion.
???: Hey, are those real weapons? Where did you get those things?
The people at the school were surprised to see the equipment we were carrying, and a boy wearing a baseball cap couldn't contain his curiosity and had to ask about it.
Ena: Found them; this place can be a treasure chest if you're willing to explore; now we can return to important matters.
Mitsuru: There's a problem with that; the principal and a group of teachers are strongly and some students opposed to leaving the school, and after the incident with the missing teachers, they've only become more determined about their choice.
Ena: That doesn't sound like a problem; if they want to stay, then let them.
???: How can you say that! Do you have any idea how things have been going on here? Demons are constantly attacking; if they stay here, they won't survive.
I didn't know the girl who spoke personally, but she was somewhat popular among the boys at school because of her appearance; her name was Yukari.
Ena: You realize we've been out in the open dealing with these things. If they're stupid enough not to see the danger, what do you expect me to do? Forcing them out of school against their will is bound to cause us trouble on the way back.
Mitsuru: I see what you're saying, but it's my duty to save as many people as I can. Give me a day, I'll convince everyone I can, and then we won't go.
Ena: fine, It's not like I wanted to leave you here on purpose.
Mitsuru: Thank you for understanding; you must be tired and hungry. Go inside to the cafeteria.
Ena: No, I was thinking of camping out here; it might cause a stir if some people see us so armed.
Mitsuri: um yeah, I can see that happening.
I knew this was a possibility, so we came prepared with a couple of tents and some food, although we didn't have much time to rest, As Yukari said, the school was constantly under attack, not by a large number of demons and not by very powerful ones, but they were coming at random intervals that didn't allow us to relax.
Ena: Hey Kyoko, what do you think of the situation here? The way those demons are attacking, doesn't it seem deliberate to you?
Kyoko: oh It seems we're thinking the same thing; it appears that someone in charge is trying to weaken the defenses here to obtain the large amount of nutrients from within, a somewhat frightening reality, but that's just how this world is.
After seeing what happened at the mall, it was clear when Kyoko said "nutrients" she was referring to the people at school, that was indeed dreadful, but it was something we had to accept and be prepared for.
Ena: So if all their food tried to escape, they'd surely do something big to prevent that, right?
Kyoko: oh That's for sure, we'll be more vulnerable along the way, so that's very likely the moment they'll choose to strike.
Or if Mitsuru can't convince everyone to leave, those who stay can serve as a distraction to buy us some time; It's not a tactic I want to use, and definitely one that wouldn't be popular if I proposed it, so I didn't mention it out loud, anyway, we were going to need our energy for tomorrow, so I told the others we were going to take turns, two of us on guard while the others rested.
