Chapter 44 - cursed slaves part 2

Damon couldn't believe what he was seeing, It wasn't just his name but many other names in the book.

"Where, how, Did you do all of this."

"Yes, for years I was hellbent on finding my sister, and I believe i came close. In fact their were times when I felt my life was in danger from looking into the missing kids."

"You're on this list and it's been five years since I put you on the list according to the time period. What can you tell me about the people who kidnapped you. Please Damon, this could possibly get me closer to finding her. I had given up a couple years ago, but now ....."

Damon took in a deep breath, this was all coming out of nowhere. One minute he was trying to explain a little of his past that he could remember and all of a sudden it flipped.

"I'm not sure, everything happened so fast back then and it was 5 years ago. "

Damon recalled his time in the torture house along with Raya and Jasper. He shared his experience to the best of his memories.

"It was some supernatural brain fog or something. We all could recall things, but it was just fuzzy and scrambled up. Somehow, my memories were the only one's returning after the second time we got brain wiped, or whatever they did. It was only specific memories though.

"Most of us could barely remember how our parents look and some forgot they even had parents or a life at all."

"I can't recall what my parents look like, but for some reason I can still hear how they sound and certain events I had with them."

"The city head allowed us to stay, but none of us knew where we had came from. No one could remember so it was nothing we could tell them that would point them in the right direction."

"We were put in an orphanage in wait for the capital to come get us but it never happened. eventually everyone got a new family and life except me. However a few days later all the families that adopted one us where brutally killed in their homes."

"In one night the kids I came with were all gone. It scared the townfolks so much they started calling us cursed slaves because of the brand we had and what happened to each family."

"The orphanage owners died as well and the city head and captain Issac throwed me to the streets when I was ten years old fearing the worse. So I've been on the streets since, I'm sorry I couldn't tell you something worth listening to, but that's all I know."

"No, you've gave me something important, It's good to know that whoever is behind it has the ability to gradually wipe memories or either uses some item or such to do so. Also the descriptions of the man who branded you along with the guy wearing a top hat is vital.

"Also, I'm pretty sure the culprits came back for you all after they found you. Except they missed one, which was you, but why go through the trouble of getting the kids they lost, back. "

"It could be the kids chosen are special in some way or they were just cleaning up their mess. Either way it gives me something to think about."

They talked for a little more and Damon decided to go out and complete his daily task.

The good thing about being on the street for so long was he knew Capetown well. Cape City wasn't a very large city, but it wasn't small either. The main thing about the city was it felt like two different places.

Half of the city was filled with shopping stands and a dirt road with shack like houses throughout, while the other half had huge buildings and large storefronts and well built homes with stone block roads.

He soon came to a large white and orange building that read "FBC" fresh beast cuts. On the front and below written in large letters it said. "Always The Finest."

He sat on the roof of the building next to it for a while looking at the sun.

"Should be anytime now." He thought.

Seconds later, just like before an old man that looked to be in his fifties walked out wearing a weighted vest. Right beside him was a beast resembling a hyena the size of a small dog.

It wasn't rare for people to have beasts as pets or fighting companions. it was only through the proper channels and had to be done with a beast syncing infusion. To tame a beast, a unique shot was needed, its offered to anyone with enough money to purchase or as a reward, but the infusion isn't guaranteed to work.

When obtaining the infusion, it all depended on the person. Some gained one beast while others multiple, many gained none as it was believed in some way you had to be chosen.

The old man stretched for a little and began running down the road, the little beast followed by his side running along with him.

Making sure no one was around, Damon jumped down and over, rolling on the roof. He climbed down and hopped over the wall that was attached to the back of the building.

Using the small training area like before, he

picked up a weight ball that weighed 20 pounds and began to squat. He then went to 40 pounds repeating the same steps.

Each time he completed a rep his weight training progression would be updated.

[100 pounds has been lifted ×2 eight more reps remaining.]

It took longer than he expected but once completed he received a notification of completion. He climbed back over the wall and was out of there before the man returned or anyone unexpected showed up.

His last two tasks for the day was to run 2 kilometers and practice rain control for two hours. He decided to get the running out the way so he would have plenty of time left. It was still pretty early in the day and he was on great timing.

He simply ran a route through multiple alleys he had been running for years until he reached his goal. Covered in sweat he leaned against a wall and sat down.

Before he knew it, he was waking up looking around. He had gotten so use to sleeping on the street it was second nature to him so he didn't think much about it. He slept a little over three hours and felt well rested as the hard ground was strangely comfortable to him.

Getting up he decided to go learn a little. It didn't take him long before he was standing on the outside of a classroom window listening in on a few lessons.

He wasn't allowed to attend school because of his cursed reputation. That didn't stop him from sneaking on the academy grounds and eaves dropping. Like he had been doing for years. He had learned a lot from eaves dropping, but it did bother him not to be able to attend.

He had become a bit stoned hearted, but didn't lack emotions. He still had feelings and wished some things were different when it came to his progression with learning.

The windows weren't very thick and he could hear well. Besides roaming the streets everyday. He learned alot about the kids through hiding around the academy and watching. Its how he knew the type of person Taylen, the fire bug was.

"A few days ago you were nearly dead and now you're back to your old ways." A strong and smooth voice spoke.

Turning around, Damon cracked a slight smile while looking from side to side not making eye contact with captain Issac.

Taking in a deep breath and exhale, Captain Isaac instructed him to move along while escorting him out.

"I've lost count years ago as too how many times I've arrested you for trespassing or thievery. I know you've been dealt a shitty hand in life. That's why Im so understanding about your dealings, but I have to do my job."

"These kids parents don't want you around Damon."

"It's not like I'm inside the classrooms. I'm just listening from the outside, Some of the teachers even know."

Looking at him with raised eyebrows Issac tilted his head to the side. "Of course they do. How do you think I know when you're here."

"Look, I want to apologize, I received Gavin's call to help before you were hurt. I told him help was on the way when it really wasn't. Their were other people that needed our help that was deemed more important than you, I'm only telling you this because I feel extremely guilty."

"It's not ok, but I'm not surprised, I know you've been burden with guilt, ive told you years ago. Damon responded.

He knew how many people felt about him and it bothered him, but not to an extreme point.

As they walked through the school grounds a bell ringed and the kids exited their classes heading to break.

" Hey look everyone. Street rat is still at it this year. Taylen shouted making everyone laugh as they walked by him.

Damon eyes burned with negative intentions for a moment before a smile formed on his face.

"Very funny. You should tell everyone how easily you would have lost to me in that fight a couple nights ago. If you didn't have help, we both know who would have won." Damon said with a slight mug.

The crowd stopped for a moment looking at Taylen as he frowned while balling up his hands.

Wapow!

A quick slap to the back of his head by captain Issac made Damon flinch.

"Dont start Damon, his father is the reason you're not banned from the city. If it wasn't for him you wouldn't even be on the street." He whispered grabbing him by the head.

"What. Taylen you needed help to beat him, You're such a loser little brother. Yea that's sad. I'm going to tell father, He's going to have real fun with this. You'll be grounded for months." Two blond haired older kids spoke.

The upper classmates were also leaving for break as well.

"He's lying. You can't trust him, he's a slave. He would say anything. "

"Captain Issac. You wouldn't mind if these two had a little sparring session would you. Ya know, to flush out the liar." One of Taylen's brothers asked.

Captain Issac looked at him and began leading Damon out.

"Captain Issac, Our father will hear about this. You can either be on the good end of it or the bad. It's your choice." The other blond boy said with a smile.

"You see what you've done. You should learn when to leave certain things alone." Issac spouted to Damon.

"If that's what you wish. I don't see a problem with that Master Luke."

Everyone cheered with excitement and the news scattered like wild fire. Within five minutes multiple crowds had showed up including teachers.

They gathered in a field within school grounds. Everyone began placing bets on who would win. Some bet their entire lunches on the match.

"I love unregistered matches. Their so fun." A green eyed girl with dark brown hair said.

"If you win Taylen I won't tell father, If you barely win I will tell father. If you lose to someone like him, well you know what will happen. So I advise you not to lose." Luke said.

They both got into positions, Damon was smiling on the inside. He knew he would probably lose, but wanted to at least get a few hits in for Bailey.

Ding!

[You've been challenged to a fight. Win the match.]
