Knox waited while thinking of the mess he had gotten himself into. He really didn't believe the stories and was warned multiple times before leaving for his mission to retrieve the ones who escaped. He was just a kid, a kid with a promising ability that was kidnapped by the same people as them.
The only difference was he accepted their reasoning. He was told all the children who was being taken was for the future. That they were the future, and in order to save planet Syair, many more was needed. He didn't know for what exactly, but only knew that all the kids were being taken care of and trained.
He had been taken a year ago, after his awakening, due to his promising ability he was taken through many trials and succeeded. Making him one of the kids with the authority to take on simple missions. His main training was to be an assassin. Something he truly cared to be after learning how to control his port shadow ability. He couldn't tell them his true story, not yet.
During his time of recollecting his memories, Damon finally spoke.
"Its true, we saw it as well."
Around an hour or so later they had finished telling their own encounter. It seemed as if they all were connected, not only by a strong bond of friendship, but something evil, something they could feel over them like a lingering dark cloud.
"Damon, I think its safe to share more now." Raya said softly.
"I agree, apparently its no turning back, we are in this together no matter if we like it or not. " Jasper added knowing what she was referring to.
Letting out a sigh, Damon nodded in agreement.
"This is our truth." Raya said as a bright red flare of fountain energy poured out her hands. "Im an early awakened. "
Knox eyes became large and rotated in disbelief watching the power he had seen light up the sky. He could feel its intense short bursts of heat crashing into his face.
"Yea, my power isnt glitter, a real man's ability is this." Red spiraling energy covered Jasper's fists creating a low vibration. Although it wasn't as flashy as Raya's, Knox could tell it was stronger in its own way. The pressure it gave off was surprising.
"Sorry we didn't share our true strengths with you from the beginning, we just had to make sure you were cool." Jasper added.
Knox was indeed surprised, but the most amazing thing was Raya being a early awakened. It wasn't common at all, he couldn't shut up about it, but when he found out how Raya became a early awakened his excitement died a little.
"That's insane, that thing forced your ability to come forth nearly two years early. How is something like that possible, and it sounded like it has its own reasoning. " Knox said softly with a worried face. He closed his eyes for a moment before another thought came to his mind.
"Did it do the same thing to you?" He turned to Damon and asked. His expression full of curiosity.
"No, just Raya.... Damon paused while shifting a little. He was still on the fence about showing Knox his ability.
"So it forced Raya to awaken early, but not you. I wonder why, what the hell could it be possibly planning. In the stories, anyone who was not of the Hyundai clan bloodline that got into or crossed the river perished. Some the same day, but most of them years later. I mean people die all the time, who's to say it was that thing's doing." Knox said thoughtfully scratching his obsidian black hair.
"We don't know, but it didn't have to force an early awaken on me. I awakened three years ago." Damon said in a depressed and somewhat odd tone.
Knox's blood red eyes shot open, he leaned back tilting his head to the side.
"You mean...he paused. "You're a true early awakened, I mean for real. " he exclaimed.
"Yes."
Knox was speechless for a moment, a few things were rolling in his head like how Mr. Grimm will react to him getting the escaped kids back and learning they all had abilities and two was a rare early awakened. Being a early awakened was a big deal because it meant early cultivatin, even someone who awakened 6 or 3 months earlier was considered a big deal.
"Wait, you said three years ago.... you were seven years old. That's unheard of, the earliest a person has ever awakened was two years before turning thirteen. To become an awakened at seven is worldwide news, How come it wasn't reported. I mean thats something that wouldn't go unnoticed by anyone. "
Damon twisted his lips while nibbling on his bottom lip. Raya and Jasper looked away oddly. Raya began a small fire, using her ability, drying out the grass and tall flowers to burn wasn't a big deal now that the cat was out the bag.
Paying attention to their body language a confused frown crawled over his face.
"What the hell is wrong with you guys, thats great, right." He said. Usually whenever Knox spoke his voice was soft and slightly above being a whisper, but his soft voice was gone with all the excitement.
Taking in a breath and irritated exhale Damon finally spoke again.
"My memory is wrecked a bit, I can remember more things about my life than Raya or Jasper, but I can't remember faces. "
"My awakening wasn't broadcasted because how weak my ability is. I cant picture my father or mother, and I believe I have a brother and sister as well. I don't remember them though, in my memory they're like human shadows so a clear picture of them is impossible. Fortunately I can remember events and places."
What Damon was about to tell Knox was something he had already shared with Raya and Jasper during their travels before Knox arrived.
"After my awakening, a shadow figure in my memory who i believe to be my father wanted to wait until a full month of cultivation was completed before a simple whisper of a kid had awakened at the age of seven became known."
"Well, I trained hard and to no avail my ability didn't change. A month turned into two, and then three. Before i knew it a full year passed and my power hadn't growed much at all. In my memories, my mother and father was still proud of me and was happy to still claim me as their son."
"It wasn't until a day before you found us that a new memory came back to me. I had ran away from home after two years of failed cultivation. Spent six months in a small city with a wishing well at the center before they found me. I remember being home for a while and then blank, im waking up in that old house chained to the wall."
As Knox listened to Damon's brief story, a few things came to his mind.
"How the hell can he recall so much of his past life, that shouldn't be possible. I dont remember that much, not events about my past life, our names and small experiences that has more to do with our body is all we we're supposed to remember. maybe he wasn't exposed enough to that memory sapping fog"
"This isn't good. The whole point of them taking certain memories is for us to obey without question and for us not to go looking for our past relationships." Knox thought as Damon continued.
"So yea, even though im an early awakened, im useless when it comes to a real battle of strength and power of abilities. "
Knox looked at him for a moment studying him.
"Well, aren't you going to show me this utterly useless ability. "
Damon shook his head with a smirk. "Dont try and hide your disappointment, its cool." Damon said before light rain appeared out of nowhere.
"Oh great, we just got a fire started and now it wants to rain, perfect timing. " knox said outloud. He then faced Damon who had one brow raised.
"Well, aren't you going to show me your ability."
Damon's brow shifted upward more and his lips formed a nearly perfect horizontal line as he pressed them together.
"You're looking at his ability. " said Raya.
Knox face scrunched up intensifying his gaze at Damon, looking around him.
"Is it an invisible energy field or something. "
With a palm to his face, Jasper spoke as well.
"Its rain, his ability is the rain, are you blind." Jasper practically shouted.
With a frown, Knox looked up at the very light falling rain and back at Damon with furrowed brows.
"Seriously, I've never heard of such ability. To call upon rain, thats unusual which makes it unique. So what does this rain do? "
"What it's doing now, I can make the rain increase in range. I can make it rain harder to the point its difficult to see what's in front of you, but thats it, the rain itself does nothing."
"Im not so sure, it affects my flares, a lot too." Raya said.
"Its water you glitter bug, of course it'll have a negative effect on your power which is based on heat and sparkly flames." Jasper spoke harshly.
"Not necessarily, I mean yes certain elements have a super negative effect on other such as light and dark, earth and water, fire and water but it still depends on the cultivation strength. "
"For example, water can put out fire, but fire which is a form of heat can evaporate water. It all depends on who's cultivation is stronger anong other things. " Knox said thoughtfully.
They conversed about it all for over two hours before it died down. Knox was thankful no one wanted him to demonstrate his ability. Earlier he told them it was speed because he was pretty fast. It was his second best stat because his speed was linked to how fast he could move within the shadows.
Learning they all were awakened, he now feared they would see through his little speed trick he had prepared if it came to showing them. He really wanted to tell them everything, but he couldn't, not yet anyway. Before the topic could come up about his ability, he decided to roll up and pretend to fall asleep which turned real after the first 10 minutes. "
