Chapter 27 - memories gone

Damon was still silent with wire shut jaws. He leaned forward stepping only a half a foot to the side before clouds began appearing all over.

Mr. Grimm watched with great interest, he had never seen anything like it before. Chum the torturer walked forward with balled lips and narrow cutting eyes seeing Damon's ability. The night of his escape played back in his head.

"It was him the entire time." He mumbled angrily.

The next moment a downpour separated from the clouds and both boys launched forward with great force and readied fists.

The size of Damon's body slightly increased, but this time even more. Damon could feel multiple channels of energy direct the flow simultaneously throughout his body. His increase skill had reached a new level. It was the reason he could feel a part of his energy on edge.

Just like before, his body would slightly increase in size while all his physical traits gained a boost. This was basically a boost times 2. Damon's fist pushed Knox's back with ease making his arm sling back creating an opening that Damon exploited with a second punch to his stomach.

Knox immediately curled up as mucus, bile and partially digested food flew from mouth. Damon didn't stop there, with another punch that hung to Knox Jaw while he was throwing up. His body flipped and rolled across the ground.

In pursuit, Damon kicked Knox's body upwards a few feet.

"Pay backs a bitch." He said outloud remembering how knox had did him before.

Damon wasn't a kicker, but he could punch. Landing three strikes along with a high rising knee, knox flew to the other side with his face planted in a ditch full of water.

Almost the same spot he had kicked Damon a while ago.

Mr. Grimm watched with a huge smile while thinking to himself how entertaining the fight was already.

Knox's body shifted turning into a cloud of shadows. A shadow figure appeared next to Damon and was met with uppercut that phased through it like smoke. The next second blood spilled from a line that was made on his thigh and then his arm and chest.

"I've been trying to take it easy, but you leave me with no choice." Knox's voice said coming from the cloud of dispersing shadows.

Each time Damon would strike the shadow figure, a cut would appear somewhere on his body. Gritting his teeth, he jumped out of the haze of shadows that had started to surround him. Upon looking at it briefly from the outside, he could see knox moving, like he was swimming around in the mist of shadows. His body phasing in and out of physical form within seconds.

The phasing stopped and so did the haze of shadows as Knox stood in place. Standing beside him were three replicas of his own shadow.

Damon's mouth twisted in aggrevation, the moment he got the upper hand Knox was able to flip it with little effort.

In Knox's hand was the gold and silver dagger stained with bits of Damon's blood.

He ignored the stinging sensation of the shallow cuts while backing up towards the wood line. Kneeling down, he picked up Raya's spear. He had placed it there when he first arrived, planning to use it as a surprise attack but never got the chance to do so.

"I wondered where her little crap of a spear went. You weren't planning to surprise me with that were you?"

"I was, but unfortunately our first fight didn't go as planned." Damon responded holding a tight grip on the spear.

Knox eyes darkened with intensity as one of his shadows wisped away and formed next to Damon. Damon didn't budge, the shadow swiped going straight through his body without harm.

"I figured as much, decoys and a method to get your opponent to attack something that can't be hurt while creating you an opening. " Damon said casually.

"You and your perceptive ways, you think it matters. You can pick apart how you think my ability works all you want. It won't change the outcome. " Knox aggressively yelled.

"Wow, I've never seen Knox this agitated, even against sparring partners with much more capabilities than this one who uses the rain. Interesting. " Mr. Grimm digested while observing.

The next moment the other two shadows attacked and Knox's body disappeared. He connected a knee to Damon's stomach while dodging a spear thrust right after by a hair.

Damon ignored the shadow strikes trying to keep his eyes on Knox, but failed as Knox speed doubled by blending in with his shadows. In a matter of seconds, Damon couldn't tell which shadow would form into the real one.

After taking hit after hitting along with a few more slashes. He found himself on one knee and out of breath. The entire time he swung the spear wildly hoping to hit Knox by chance. He was a novice using such a weapon, but thought it would help because of its reach.

Twisting his hips into a straight wide kick across Damon's face which busted his jaw and created a large opening. Damon's vision wavered after feeling like he had run into a stone wall face first. Knox's body rippled with shadows as he spun around delivering his signature roundhouse shadow kick.

Even with Damon's vision failing him and the dances of the shadow kick which made it difficult to tell which kick was real Damon picked the one in the middle, sluggishly holding up his arm.

The impact hit him twice as hard as the first, but he managed to block most of it, but in doing so a vibrating pain crawled up his arm just before he fell over completely shaken up and down.

Breathing heavily was Knox who stood over Damon trying to decide if another hit was necessary. Just as he was about to deliver the final blow, a cutting wind came between them and Mr. Grimm was now standing there.

"Enough Knox, no need to go further. He's done. A bit disappointing, it started off very intriguing but quickly turned boring. Besides his physical gifts the boy is rather hopeless. This rain does absolutely nothing, what an awful ability. "

The slim tall man walked away while signaling for Chum to grab Damon.

Knox limped slowly behind Mr. Grimm holding his ribcage. The wound on his chest from Raya and Jasper had worsen as well making it harder for him to breathe.

As Damon was thrown in the back with many others, Mr. Grimm took out a small flask, pushing it to Damon's mouth, a green and red liquid formed on the corner of his mouth before his body instinctively swallowed. The cuts all over his body vanished, but he remained partially unconscious.

Knox took the flask and the same effects occurred, healing his wounds.

"You said those three memories had begun to return and they could recall a good deal of their life before we took them.... that could be troublesome..... Malaria." Mr. Grimm called out.

A woman covered in dark brown robs exited out the front of the carriage. The only thing could be seen was her rather slim curvy figure and dusk yellow eyes as her face was wrapped as well.

"See to it that from now on, all will undergo a triple dose. I want all of this to be wiped clean from their memories. Bury it as deep as possible. " he said before getting into the carriage and closing the door. Knox followed getting in as well.

The woman bowed while going to the back of the carriage, the area where the large wagon carried the captives. A warm yellow glow formed on her shoulder creating a small portal.

Crawling through was some kind of insect. A dark green beetle with worm like tentacles waving around on its back. Unlike normal beetles it had no hard external shell. It was around the size of an apple and sat on her shoulder rotating its jumbo size eyes which were oddly in the area one would assume its mouth would be.

"Blunder." She whispered to the creepy little beast. It jumped off her shoulder and through the gaps in the bars of the cell like wagon and began a secretion of some type of fog that poured from its worm like tentacles. The fog entered into their nose, mouth, ears and even eyes. There was no reaction from any of the kids. Whatever the beast was doing didn't seem to be painful.

Going to the second cart where Damon, Jasper and Raya were, she did the same. Damon was nearly out of it, but he did manage to see something.

"A wrapped figure, what, what is this smoke. I, I..."

The last thing Damon saw was a pair of dusk yellow eyes before his mind went completely blank.

They covered the back wagons with a large black tarp afterwards.

"Change of plans, Chum. You will deliver both cargo of captives. I must take care of a few things before I return. Knox and Malaria will accompany me. Unhitch this cargo and attach it to yours quickly. We must be off."

Mr. Grimm said hurriedly.

Chum did as he was told and without question.

"You have four days of travel remaining, dont be late. Malaria, leave your beast with the captives. I want it to continue hiding they're memories. Twice a day, can you connect with it thoroughly enough for that task ?."

"Yes, of course Mr. Grimm."

"Good, let's go."
