...

A day had passed since our conversation at the café, and it was finally time to leave Pallet Town and head to Saffron City to earn my next Gym Badge.

The good thing was that since we had already traveled to Saffron City before, the girls and I decided to take the train instead of walking all those kilometers again.

The farewell was quite emotional… or at least it was for Molly, who couldn't help but cry when she saw me leaving. It's incredible how much she cares about me, even though it's only been three weeks since we met.

"And to think she hated me the first time we met in that mansion…" I thought as I sat next to Celeste.

After calming Molly down, the three of us boarded the train and took our seats. It wasn't a particularly long trip, but it was long enough to take a nap—if you wanted to, of course.

[Back then, she was still confused and hadn't accepted her father's death or the fact that she had been left alone. That's why, when you tried to take away her new mother, she started to hate you.]

And once everything was resolved and her family came back…

[She returned to how she used to be before her mother disappeared the first time. Simple as that.]

 Yeah.

Anyway, while Roxanne and Celeste were asleep, I decided to check the items I had gotten from the system's gacha. There were quite a few TMs that I could use on my current Pokémon.

To start with, Pikachu already had good moves, so she didn't really need anything new. But I couldn't say the same for the rest of my team.

I started with Butterfree. I removed Psybeam and replaced it with the TM Giga Drain that the system had given me. I also taught her Quiver Dance, making my Butterfree much more interesting than before.

Then I moved on to Lopunny. She already had a solid moveset, so I left her as she was. Besides, I didn't have any suitable TMs for her anyway.

Since I used Giga Drain on Butterfree, I didn't have many good moves left for Ivysaur… actually, that's not true. I did have the TM Sunny Day, which I taught her right away. That way, Solar Beam could be used without needing to charge.

As for Charizard, I taught her Dragon Dance.

I left Onix as it was for now, since it already had a good moveset.

Mew was a bit of a problem—not because I couldn't teach her new moves, but because there were too many options. I couldn't decide, so I left it for later.

And finally, Wartortle. After learning Hydro Pump, her strength was already pretty solid, so for now she didn't need anything else.

So those were the improvements I made to my team.

A couple of hours passed since we left Pallet Town, and we finally arrived in Saffron City.

"I'm sooo tired!" Roxanne said, stretching her beautiful body.

"I'm full of energy… but I'd kill for something to eat," Celeste said.

"Ahem, we've still got plenty of time. We can relax and grab something to eat. What are you in the mood for?" I asked.

It was 1:30 PM—a perfect time for lunch, and still early enough that the Gym wouldn't be closed. We could take it easy, eat properly, and then head over to challenge Sabrina.

Am I tired? Not at all. I went to bed pretty early yesterday. Want to know why? Simple: Molly.

Like any eight-year-old, she goes to bed early, and since it was my last day with her for weeks—maybe even months—she wanted to sleep with me. And since I can't refuse my adorable little sister, I gave in and went to bed early with her.

Molly slept over at my house, and yeah, her parents didn't mind. In fact, they seemed pretty happy about it… maybe they took advantage of being alone to enjoy some privacy? Not a crazy thought, especially after being apart for years. They probably wanted to make up for lost time.

By the way, the girls slept together in the guest room. I would've liked them to sleep with me, but my bed was too small, and my room wasn't big enough to fit extra mattresses on the floor. So yeah… that's how it went.

"Pasta!" Celeste said.

"Sushi!" Roxanne said.

They looked at each other. One wanted pasta, the other sushi—and neither of them was backing down.

"Then it's settled. We're going to a buffet. That way you can both eat whatever you want," I said.

Since there wasn't a restaurant that served both pasta and sushi, a buffet was the best option. That way, no arguments.

"Perfect!" Celeste said.

"Now I can eat all the sushi I want!" Roxanne said.

"Pika pi!" Pikachu added.

No idea what Pikachu wanted, but I was craving a nice steak with fries. What kind of meat? Well… in the Pokémon world, animals don't exist, so… you can imagine where it comes from. As for how it's processed… I don't know, and I don't want to know.

Anyway, after a quick search online, we headed toward the nearest buffet, which luckily wasn't far from the station—about a 15-minute walk. In other words, a nice stroll through Saffron City… at least until—

"Hey! You! The guy with the red cap!" someone shouted.

Confused, we looked around, trying to figure out who was calling me like that. And yeah… it had to be me. I was the only one wearing a red cap.

"Move!" a voice shouted.

"Pika pi!" Pikachu said.

Pikachu looked up at the sky, and when we did the same, we saw a Dragonite flying straight toward us at full speed. On its back was a girl, though I couldn't see her clearly.

"What's going on?" Celeste asked, confused.

But we didn't get the chance to answer, because the moment Dragonite stopped, a powerful gust of wind nearly knocked us off our feet.

"Ah!" Roxanne cried out.

Luckily, we managed to stay standing, and I grabbed Pikachu just in time—otherwise, she would've been blown away.

"I'm so sorry!" the girl said as she jumped off Dragonite's back.

Now that I looked closely, Dragonite was dressed like… a mail carrier? It was wearing a mail cap and had a satchel slung across its body, with several letters sticking out—letters that almost got blown away by that gust of wind.

"Excuse me, but… who are you, and why were you calling me?" I asked.

"My name is Hana! I'm a trainee mail carrier, and this is my partner, Fuecoco—and my friend, Dragonite!" Hana said with a smile.

Hana was a pretty girl—brown hair, brown eyes, and her hair tied into two small twin ponytails. As for her outfit… it was just a standard mail carrier uniform.

"Coco!" Fuecoco said happily.

A small Fuecoco hopped down from Dragonite's back and looked at us with a cheerful smile.

"A mail carrier? You're a Pokémon mail carrier?" Celeste asked curiously.

"A trainee, but yes!" Hana nodded.

"Nice to meet you, Hana. My name is Ash, this is my partner Pikachu, and these are Celeste and Roxanne, my friends," I said.

"Nice to meet you," Celeste said.

"It's a pleasure," Roxanne added.

"Pika pi!" Pikachu greeted.

"Yeah, yeah! Nice to meet you all!" Hana said cheerfully.

After introducing ourselves, there was a brief moment of silence.

"So… what does a mail carrier want with me?" I asked.

"Oh, right!" Hana said.

Then she turned to Dragonite, who immediately opened his bag and pulled out a slightly crumpled letter.

"Here! This is for you!" Hana said as she handed it over.
