Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: A dog and a cat

AUDREY

"Wow, something new? Did you just took the bus? West?" Carter said as he cross our path. I snorted at him.

"Good morning, Mr.Golden boy. Have a good day" I greeted him sarcastically. Remembering him to tone down his obvious disliking of Mr.Dylan West. I looked up to Dylan. As always. The cold expression never leave his angelic face. Angelic it is. I knotted my forehead realizing I'm giving him too much compliment it's making me shiver in cringe.

"Good morning, Mr.Smith" Dylan casually said and just nod. He left after giving me the look. I just nod back. Remembering what he said. Never took the bus stop alone again.

I put my arms across my chest. Looking at Carter with a raised eyebrows.

"What's with the bitchy attitude this early morning?" I frankly asked. He's about to answer back but then I go straight to my locker. I put my things and go straight to the library. I'm about to turn right at the hallway when I hear the sounds of piano playing. I slowly walk towards the open door to took a peak to make sure if it's Dylan playing the piece. I slowly closed the door and leave him alone. After finding the best place to o my project, I sat and stay focus. I didn't waste time. I'm about to open another reference book when I saw someone familiar.

It's Evan and he's with some girl. He's not with his friends. It's just the two of them. They're kinda touchy and giggling the librarian needs to call them out. I didn't know Evan has a girlfriend. I put my earphones back and ignore them like I didn't saw the two of them.

After finishing my project, I walk straight back to my first class. I sat beside Dylan who is just reading a book.

"Professor is gonna be late..." he said without looking at me, still reading his book.

"What's new?" I answered him, not giving him another glace. I unpacked my things and open the books in advance. I'm in the middle of taking notes when Carter came.

"Hi, Audrey!" Carter said, greeting me. I'm about to greet him back when I saw how he stare down Dylan--who has his own world. Calmly and classy, just reading book. Minding his own world. What the fudge is wrong with this two? they are starting to annoy me.

We are in the middle of the class when the professor mentioned that we have one student that went missing three days ago. They're giving the missing flyers and the professor wants us to help, if we have time. I'm in the middle of listening to the professor talking about the missing kids when I unconsciously look at Carter--who is staring--I mean glaring at Dylan. I look to the person at my left. He's looking at Carter too. Looking back. Annoyed, I bend my back to cover him. Then I look at Carter. He just rolled his eyes on me.

After the class, I went to the student the professor told us where we can have copy of flyers for the missing student. I looked up the photo.

"Who is this?" My brother Harvey asked. I shrugged.

"Not familiar..." I said. Harvey joined me in giving flyers. He didn't want me to go alone.

"Poor kid" He said, almost murmuring.

"Yeah, poor kid. I hope she doesn't end up like the last kid" Someone said from behind. She's almost an inch away from Harvey's face, I almost raise an eyebrow on her. Thanked heavens, I didn't. And the way she said what she said, is not something like she sound concerned. "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My bad." she continue, fixed her hair and extend her hand without holding the flyers then smiled at my brother. "I'm Brittany, Brittany Buxton" she said smiling. Harvey look at me, I just nod.

It's not like I want him to ignore girls who's all over him. It's not my place and, she hasn't done anything bad. I hope not. The whole giving the flyers time, she's talking nonstop to Harvey that I almost feel that I am not existing.

"Oh, the pretty boy" she said. I stop and look where she's looking and who is the pretty boy she's seeing because I never saw someone as pretty as Dylan or should I say majestic? is that too much of giving him a compliment?

"Who?" my brother asked.

"Dylan" Brittany said. I almost nod. Of course, that would be Dylan. Who could it be?

"Dylan? pretty boy?" my brother said. Did I just hear his voice being salty? does he have something to do with Dylan too? What with the tone?

"Of course, You know. Harvey. You are cute, but Dylan? he's top tier" Brittany said. I saw my brother almost roll his eye and looked me like he want me to dispose this girl's body.

"Carter's better" Harvey said, both Brittany and I looked at him in surprise. "Oh, shit. That's not what you think. I mean, he's tan, and manly--not pretty or beautiful" he said. defending himself, and Carter. Brittany and I looked at each other like we don't want to argue with his man. We continue to post missing flyers in post.

"Carter's better? Dylan is" Brittany said.

"What? no" Harvey declined.

"Why are we arguing who's better? excuse me?" I said. Stopping these two nut job.

"He's saying that Carter is better, but no. I think Dylan is better" Brittany said and I almost nod--I stop in the middle when Harvey is giving me side eye. I forgot, he's my brother. How could I talk about cute boys with him. Dumbass.

"..." Harvey's about to say something but shut his trap.

"Both are good catch, but the problem with these two cutie are like cat and dogs. Always ready to bite each others butt" Brittany is laughing as she told us stories about Carter and Dylan's encounter.

"For real?" Harvey asked.

"Yes, that true. You can ask that to Carter since you are quite close to him right?" Brittany said then snatched the flyers on Harvey's hand. She snorted at Harvey, which is what he deserve. He's not moving, he's busy chitchatting and listening to the story. It's us, me and Brittany doing the posting.

"..."

"If you don't believe me, you'll have to stay longer in Sta.Ynez to see how West and Smith's are into each other's throat" Brittany said laughing--like it's fun. "Stay alive and don't get kidnap or murder by the psycho who's been lurking around the corner"
