Blood. Blood. Blood.
"Where have you been?" My head shot back when I heard a familiar voice. Lorenzo. Those blood red eyes. He's hungry. His feature where Latin, those chocolate brown colored eyes once, where now bloody red. His long claws where out. He's ruining our old statues. Dmitri will not like it when he comes back.
"You don't bring anything?" I asked. He shrugged. "I can't...I just can't" he said. My forehead knotted.
"Why can't you?" I started continue walking towards the main door. He's leaning in one of the big gargoyle statues above the terrace. His clothes were worn out.
"What happened?" I asked. He looks worn out. That should not happen. If not, there's a problem. or anything that is not normal. For us. I walk straight to where Lorenzo is.
"Explain it, will you?" I said. He opened his shirt. He has a claw marks on his left abdomen. It's deep. It would take a day or two to heal. Way too slow than my ability to heal. Sounds weird? Yes. Cause we are not normal as a regular person. We are...bloodsucking monster.
"There's some animal lurking around the city. Again" Lorenzo said firmly "I'm in my way to collect our food--then suddenly, some animal run off the road and my car crash. Then that animal--claw me. He almost got my neck" he said. in details. He took a long deep breath.
"Calm down" I said. I have to make sure everything is under control.
"Calm...down. I don't want to lose my mind" Lorenzo said, having a hard time to breath "I don't want to lose my sanity just like this..." he said looking me straight in my eyes. I nodded. I tapped him in the shoulder.
"I will tuck you to your bed, and I'll go. Don't wander around. I'll fetch some collections" I said. He gulped. I lower my head and look at him eye to eye. "Don't you ever wander or go out with those red eyes glowing. You're going to scare people" I said.
I let him walk on his own. I follow him to his room and let him 'tuck' himself inside his coffin. Yes. Coffin. He's so old fashion, so am I.
"Please...I'm hungry...really...hungry..." he said as he slowly closed his coffin. I knocked on his coffin.
"Don't wander around, Robyn still isn't home. Dmitri will kill us if he found out everyone is out of their leash" I said. Making sure he remember that we can't wander around when no one is left guarding the coven.
This coven consist of six person. It's me, Lorenzo and Dmitri and the other three person who isn't here at the moment. Six and a half. For the kid. Yes we have a kid in our coven.
I took the car and leave the mansion. It would take me half an hour to go to the emergency collection site. I'm in the middle of the driving when I saw Carter's car. He's with his pack. Yes. Pack. Bunch of dogs. I can tell they're doing their best to stop growling at me since they are in an open and someone might see how they react. Carter just gave me the look and drive pass my car. The Spencer siblings weren't in his car.
Once I got out of the car, I went straight to the nurse station. I smiled after my nose pick up the smell of the blood. I put out my sunglasses and walked pass the nurse station after hearing the answer I need to hear.
"Thank you" I said.
"Oh, is it the time of the month?" Nurse Melissa said as soon as she saw me. I nodded.
"We might need a couple of extra pack since we didn't know how long we can have this without Dmitri around..." I said. Casually. She knows. She's a forty-one year old nurse. How old is she when I first met her? fourteen? or twelve?
Humans are so fragile. Easy to break. Hard to handle. Their life can be easily taken away with just one snap.
"Here, take it" she said and give me the box containing blood packs.
"How's your husband?" I asked. She laughed. Ever since she's young she know what I am and who I am with. She knows the West', and the West' let her live since she once saved one of us. She trust us, and we trust her. I stared at her too much that she look the other way and laugh.
"You are staring too much again, stop looking at my wrinkles" she said laughing. I smirked.
"Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable, it's just that it's fascinating to look so fragile at the prime stage where you can easily maneuver life decisions" I said. She just shrugged.
"The ups and downs of human, I guess? We can never stop time. Sooner or later, you'll be looking at me body under the dirty soil of Sta.Ynez" she said.
"Don't say that..." I said. I'm going to be sad if she passed away. I know that will happen, but please. No. She's one of the only people we can trust.
"Go home, Lorenzo might be dying to starvation. That man will speak ill in Latin for sure" she said shaking her head. Then, I remember my dying brother inside his coffin. Oh, I almost forgot.
"Okay. I'll go" I said and picked up the box containing blood packs."Take good care of yourself, I you don't we'll be making your dumb husband as our dinner" I said. Reminding her. She started laughing like the way she used to.
I want back to house and feed Lorenzo. He didn't lost his sanity. As he should. I don't want to be the one to put his head off because he lost his damn mind.
"Where's your manners?" I said, jokingly. He looked at me like he want to give me a smack in the head. Well, he can't. I am much stronger than him. And one more thing, I fed him. The blood is all over his white clothes. He give me sharp glare.
"Manners is gone when you are hungry" he said then finished the one pack on his hand.
"..."
"When will they be coming back?" Lorenzo asked. I shrugged.
"A week or two" I answered plainly and pick up one of the blood bag.
"That long?" he said unbelievebly.
"Yes. That long" I said.
"Why? didn't they told us give them a day or two?" He said. I looked at him like he's grown another head. Stupid question.
"Why? there's this missing person again. That son of a bitch is making this city bend in fear. We can't be involved with this kind of shit" I said. We must keep the attention low.
"Is that a werewolf?" he asked. I shrugged.
"Maybe. Maybe not. Whatever it is, it's definitely not going away. I bet there would be more body to find this next days...it's hungry...like it's a new born"
