Chapter 322 Catching Up
After Natalia's tears had run dry, she regained her composure and steadied herself. Although she was hesitant to ask, she did so anyway. She tried to speak, but her voice had returned to its previous raspy state, prompting Daniel to bring a cup of water to her lips. After clearing her throat, she spoke, her words punctuated by lingering sobs. "So, do the others know the same things I do? The same things you told me?"
Aleshia felt unsure about how to respond, but she answered honestly. "Most of them should know similar to what we've told you. Although those who were cured earliest couldn't stay awake long enough for Daniel or me to answer their questions. The ones who did manage to stay awake, though, said that when they wake up again, they will do their best to restore this place to its former glory."
Natalia smiled at what she heard. She placed a hand on her heart and let out a relieved sigh. "That sounds good. We'll all be okay. When we wake up again, we can talk to each other and be friends once more." She settled deeper into the cot.
Aleshia and Daniel silently nodded. Aleshia left the room to give Daniel and Natalia some time alone together. Before she went, she conjured some more water into the cups and took some of the empty bowls with her. She walked back to the kitchen, where she found a few people were still cleaning. She placed the dishes with the other dirty bowls and then left the room.
With nothing else to occupy her time except going back to her room to sleep, she decided to talk to some friends and catch up. After exploring several rooms, she finally found Ren, the one who had brought her to this camp. She was playing with a small dagger that had an unusual sheen or coating. The coating looked familiar to her, but she couldn't quite place it.
When she asked about the blade, Ren greeted Aleshia with a smile and replied, "Oh yes, the ball or something was of some really good metal, so I asked the blacksmith we use to apply a coat of it to my weapon and a few others as well." She twirled the dagger in her hand. "I tested this on some monsters a while back, and it definitely felt much better. It became a lot easier to stab into their skin and cut my way back out. It felt like I was drawing out some latent potential or something out of it." Ren said as she examined the blade, grinning.
