Chapter 323 Little Upgrade
"Good for you!" Aleshia clapped. "It sounds like you and a few others received a neat little upgrade."
Ren began performing tricks with the blade to distract herself from her embarrassment, twirling it in her hands and between her fingers, which inadvertently captured Aleshia's attention. As the fluttering blade danced in Ren's hands, Aleshia remarked, "Those are some impressive skills," her eyes fixated on the spinning dagger.
As Aleshia lost herself in sight, Ren asked, "So, how have you been? I haven't had a chance to talk to you in a while since you started doing quests for the camp. So how are things going?" Ren inquired with honest interest.
Aleshia snapped back to the present, taking a moment to produce a response. "I've been doing fairly well," Aleshia replied, gesturing to her pouch. "The adventures have been exciting and a great way to pass the time."
Ren nodded, clearly feeling the same way. "That's good to hear. Anyway, you make some really good food, it's certainly better food than what I can buy with the allowance I receive and from most of the places I've discovered."
Aleshia looked like she was lit up and replied, "Thank you, that means a lot to me. While many people here enjoy my food, it makes me happy to hear someone compliment it."
Ren felt a bit unsettled by Aleshia's constant lack of expression and the unusual lighting surrounding her, but she attributed it to Aleshia's nature. Being familiar with Aleshia's demeanor, Ren continued her initial question without hesitation. "Do you have a schedule for when you cook? I want to plan around it because your food is really good, and I don't want to miss out."
Aleshia considered her question and answered, "I don't have a strict schedule for when I begin, but I usually start in the morning and possibly in the evening, like now," her voice uncertain.
Ren considered Aleshia's answer, weighing her options in her mind. "I don't think that will be much of a problem for me, but I'll inform the others who are interested," she declared. She then sheathed her dagger, rose from her seat, and, after saying her farewell, left the room.
Aleshia sat quietly in the room for a while, taking in her surroundings. It looked similar to the other rooms she had seen, so nothing particularly stood out to her. However, she noticed some of the items Ren had scavenged were scattered across the floor around a particular bed, leading her to deduce that this was where Ren slept.
After staring intently at the pile, trying to discern what novelties and other curiosities she might uncover, she decided it was time to go to sleep. She returned to her usual room and made herself comfortable on the floor before drifting off into a deep, restful slumber.
