Chapter 338 Heavy Workload
After some initial resistance from Rebel about going to bed, Daniel offered her a compromise. "Alright, I'll take you to your room," he said. Hearing this, Rebel happily jumped into Daniel's arms. He carried her to the door, and together they walked to her quarters. Meanwhile, Aleshia continued filing paperwork. A little while later, Daniel returned to the office and resumed his own paperwork.
After a period of silence, only interrupted by the scratching of a quill, Daniel said, "It's getting late, isn't it? You are free to leave at any time. I don't want to take advantage of your kindness. I truly appreciate what you are doing, but I also don't want to take up more of your time than you want to spend here."
Aleshia nodded and looked over the rest of the paperwork remaining on her desk. Seeing that there were only a few documents left, she noted, "It looks like I have only a few papers left, so once I finish these, I'll go to sleep."
Daniel looked in her direction and checked how much paperwork there was left. He decided not to oppose her on it and let her do as she pleased. "Just don't stay too long, alright?" he said, returning to his own tasks.
Once Aleshia finished the remaining paperwork, she stretched to ease her stiff muscles and felt the relief of loosening them up. She asked Daniel where to put the documents, and he told her she could leave them where they were. He assured her that he would handle putting them away. He also advised her to go to sleep as she had completed her work for the night.
As Aleshia was heading out, she asked Lucia, "It seems like he's going to be working on all this until he passes out. Do you think you can rejuvenate him or heal him so he doesn't feel exhausted in the morning or whenever he wakes up?" Aleshia requested, looking at Daniel with understanding pity as he continued to file paperwork, understanding his heavy workload.
Lucia found no issues with Aleshia's request and assured her that there would be no problems in fulfilling it. However, she wanted to have Daniel's consent first. Upon hearing this, Aleshia turned to Daniel and asked, "Would it be okay if Lucia were to heal you?"
Daniel looked up, puzzled, and responded, "I don't think I need healing; I don't have any injuries. Thank you for the offer, but you should rest now since you've finished your work." He said, returning to his work.
It seemed that Daniel did not quite understand what she was offering, so she elaborated, "Lucia's ability to heal is not just about fixing the broken and bruised; it can also help you recover your energy. I was hoping it would help you feel well rested when you sleep."
