Chapter 25 - A wave of Stones and Bloods

Time was running out for everyone, it was nearly impossible to evacuate two million residents before the Chaos Creatures reached the city.

Tension and panic escalated among the people, especially among the Awakened soldiers.

"If only we had fled," one of the merchants muttered in fear.

"Didn't I tell you the chaos would reach us soon!"

"Fuck , they arrived early! What are we going to do now?"

"I knew it since the Avaghida Village incident."

Some merchants were in a state of despair, blaming each other for not leaving like others after that incident five months ago.

Due to the crowd and the rush of people trying to board the carriages, there were already many injuries and cases of people faint.

Some residents decided to flee on foot, while others took shelter in their homes, hoping it would keep them safe. Some had already lost hope...

The Chaos creatures hadn't arrived yet, but the ominous feeling and the foul smells of the Chaos had already begun to spread throughout the city.

Outside the castle, the vanguard of the Awakened soldiers stood ready, including the commanders Elena and Morgan, alongside five other leaders.

There was supposed to be two Saint assigned to every city, but the Saints of Anvil had already left for an unknown reason.

Everyone knew the fate awaiting these soldiers ... it was death.

It was impossible to kill a Demonic Chaos without the help of at least three Saints.

Yet none of them trembled or fled, because the fall of Anvil would be a devastating blow to the entire continent.

They knew very well that they would rather die now than see their city fall—true soldiers, the kind Morgan could be proud of.

Anvil alone supplied 54% of the continent's medical crops annually.

Losing these vital supplies would cause severe damage to every city across the continent.

Elena sat on a stone beside the gate, staring ahead waiting for the Chaos creatures to appear.

"Do you think we'll survive, Morgan?" she asked.

Morgan cracked his neck and replied, "If what we're facing is a Chaos demon… we're all dead tonight."

Elena sighed, as she clasped her fingers "How many soldiers do we have available?"

Morgan sat beside her, resting his chin on his sword "We have 53 Awakened and 300 regular soldiers."

Elena bit her lip. "What about the Saints?"

Morgan exhaled in despair. "None of them... We don't know where they are."

Elena looked at him with sad eyes. "What terrible timing."

As they spoke, both of them shivered and looked ahead at the same time.

Morgan stood and said, "They've arrived."

Then he shouted in a booming voice, "Prepare yourselves! Our guests have arrived!"

The soldiers and Awakened stepped out of the castle, while the archers and long-range Awakened took positions atop the walls.

The soldiers glanced at their commanders with sad faces—perhaps for the last time.

"I'll close the gates now, sir," one of them said.

Morgan smiled. "I wish you all luck."

Then the gates were shut.

Everyone stood firm, weapons in hand, staring ahead at what awaited them.

Two minutes later, the nature of the creatures climbing the slope became clear.

Elena, usually calm and composed, was now shaking in fear.

Morgan's eyes widened in shock as he stared ahead.

The soldiers' eyes grew equally wide, sweat pouring from them in despair.

"This… is impossible…"

Before them surged hundreds of massive Golem creatures.

Each of these monsters stood at least three meters tall, their bodies made of thick stone and clay.

Their arms were so huge that a single hand could fit three men standing side by side.

They had three conjoined heads, no expression, and with a dark red eyes.

Morgan steadied his trembling hands, raising his sword with both arms, and shouted, "Prepare yourselves!"

He wanted to fight away from the city to avoid harming the civilians, so he moved toward the Golems with the soldiers at his side.

The archers raised their bows, readying arrows tipped with magical firestones, while the Awakened prepared their various powers to shoot at the monsters.

Morgan was the first to move, followed closely by Elena and the other 5 leaders.

And the rest of the soldiers charged forward behind them as she screaming.

Morgan used his lightning ability, charging it in his sword as he prepared to attack.

Then he shouted to everyone, "Do not fear! Do not hesitate! kill them! kill them all ! never let them in !"

"Boom!" With a powerful, lightning-empowered swing, Morgan struck, destroying three golems with a single blow.

He moved his body to face the next Golem, but four Golems were already surrounding him at terrifying speed, their massive hands was ready to crush him.

"Watch out!" Elena used her power to fly over the Golems.

She swung her sword vertically, sending sparks flying through the air, and cut down all four Golems in an instant.

The other soldiers joined the battle against the creatures.

The sound of clashing swords and explosions filled the air, while arrows rained from above on the Golems, blowing many of them apart.

" boom.. boom... boom ... "

Elena moved quickly from side to side, her sword flashing in a deadly moves.

One of the Golems kicked Elena from behind, but she blocked it with the edge of her sword, recoiling backward from the force of the strike.

Three other commanders joined her, one of them wielding a spear.

He moved his spear with high speed, delivering a series of consecutive strikes. "Die! All of you!"

"Boom!" The Golem that had kicked Elena moments before exploded into pieces, and the spear-wielding commander turned his weapon to strike down even more.

The other two commanders fought bravely as well.

One of them had an ability to enhance his physical strength, allowing him to have deadly hands. He punched with powerful punches, shattering a Golem into chunks of stone.

Meanwhile, Morgan's attacks were thunderous, striking multiple Golems with bolts of lightning, illuminating the area around him with lightning bolts.

Despite their impressive performance, the number of Golems was overwhelming. Within minutes, half of the soldiers had already fallen.

"I'm going to die… no, no, please, God!" one soldier begged, before a Golem's foot crushed his head like an insect.

"Dont you dare to run away!" Morgan shouted at the soldiers, coughing up blood.

Elena was so tired gasping heavily. "Fuck… how many of them are there for Saints sake ?!"

The archers fired their arrows relentlessly, but their stock was beginning to run low.

The long-range Awakened were nearly exhausted, their spiritual energy drained from overusing their powers.

A huge number of Golems were destroyed in the battlefield, and dozens of Awakened soldiers had fallen.

Yet the number of Golems didn't seem to decrease at all—in fact, it appeared to be increasing.

Morgan's anger erupted, and he gritted his teeth. "You fucking bastards!"

Then his eyes glowed pure white, and he rose into the sky as if he were flying.

He gripped his sword like a spear, and the entire blade blazed with white lightning.

He thrust his sword with immense force over the crowd of Golems, creating a massive explosion that shook the ground.

" Booom ! "

The shockwave ot the explosion destroyed dozens of Golem monsters in seconds, throwing their bodies making them stagger.

Then the glow of lightning faded from Morgan's eyes, and he fell to the ground, smiling, blood dripping from his mouth.

"I… I can't move anymore… I'm counting on all of you."

The sight of Morgan standing tall, staring at the Chaos creatures with sharp, piercing eyes despite his extreme exhaustion, was inspiring!

The scene filled everyone with adrenaline and courage.

One of the commanders shouted, "Attack! Don't waste this chance!"

Despite the fear gripping many soldiers, they charged forward together, attacking with all their strength, killing multiple Golems in their way.

Everyone gritted their teeth, blood running from wounds as they gave everything they had in the fight.

The power displayed by these battle surpassed anything that could be imagined in any other city, after all Anvil never was a city experienced in battles..

Elena continued wielding her sword, sometimes cutting down dozens of golems at once, other times helping the remaining soldiers in the field before they could be crushed by the Golems.

But she began to tire greatly... so her movements slowed by the time.

And then, in an instant, something appeared behind her with the speed of lightning…

Morgan's eyes widened in shock as he shouted as strong as he can "Elena, run!" raising his hand in desperate...

A demonic statue suddenly appeared behind Elena from nowhere!

The demon's long stone sword was aimed directly at Elena's head.

Elena could not sense its presence, couldn't dodge, and couldn't even react… before her beautiful head, with her red hair, was severed and sent flying through the air.

Blood sprayed from her neck, soaring before the eyes of Morgan and the other soldiers.

Her eyes were wide with a mix of shock and suffering as her head flew through the air, while her body crashed violently into the castle walls, shattering her form and destroying part of the city's wall !

" booof! "

At that moment, a wave of force from the statue's sword swept across the battlefield, sparks flying toward the soldiers, killing dozens in a single strike.

Morgan stared at the scene in desperate, his eyes bleeding as he glared in rage.

"You wretched demon!"

Morgan had deep feelings for Elena, and now he was witnessing her die right before his eyes.

He cursed and screamed angrily at the demonic statue, but Morgan was oblivious to what was happening beside him.

Before he could even reach the demon, a golem's foot kicked him from the left, crushing his body completely.

Morgan screamed in pain, and it wasn't long before the Golem kept stomping on him repeatedly, until his body was reduced to pieces of flesh, splattered in blood across the ground.

The other three commanders already died from the demonic creature after that ..

Everyone lost hope when they saw what had happened. Some had already had their heads crushed as they watched the scene unfold before them.

Then everyone surrendered and threw down their weapons.

The remaining of soldiers tried to escape, running as fast as they could toward the walls.

"Please save us!"

"Open the gates, please!"

"I'm going to die, I'm going to die, please, no, no!"

"Ahhh, no, no, no!" a girl among the soldiers cried out, sobbing.

Everyone was in shock and fear, not even realizing that there was a crack in the wall caused by Elena's body when it slammed into it.

It wasn't long before the demonic statue appeared behind them. With a swift, quick movement from the demonic statue sword, their bodies were all torn apart in an instant.

The demonic statue then stood, its sword dripping with blood, its crimson eyes fixed on the archers on the castle walls.

The archers knelt in fear, speechless, at that moment, hundreds of golems surged through the damaged wall into the city.

Other golems easily broke through the gate and entered the city through it as well...

The sound of the battle and the screams of soldiers only made the the panic and fear worse among the citizens, so they tried to flee as fast as they could, trampling over one another. Some were killed in the crush, and others were badly injured.

It didn't take long before several Golems reached the back gate.

The remaining citizens watched in horror as hunderds of Golems moved through the city, spreading panic and terror everywhere.

The Golems crushed the fragile bodies of the civilians like insects.

Stones flew through the air, and debris from destroyed buildings rose above the heads of the fleeing people.

Children and infants cried everywhere, then they were mercilessly trampled.

Everyone who tried to escape was killed, either by the golems themselves or by the crazy speed of the demonic statue.

And in just two hours since the Golems had arrived in the city, Anvil was utterly destroyed, wiped off the map...

-----------------------------

The eleven Saints arrived at the outskirts of the city.

Park looked at the bodies of Sai and the other soldiers who had been with him—lifeless behind a trees close to the city.

With sorrow, he said, "It's… Sai…"

Leonard, commanding everyone to move immediately, said, "We have to act fast."

They rushed forward to witness the horror with their own eyes ... dozens of corpses scattered outside the city walls.

"Fuck…" One of the Saints named Martin muttered, in sadness as he stared at the bodies.

Lamar's gaze fell upon Elena's severed head on the ground then she knelt, closed her eyes, and whispered, "Rest in peace…" before rising to her feet.

The Saints and the other Awakened entered the city, only to find thousands of shattered and torn bodies.

In front of them was hundreds of golems walking around, while from the top of the walls looked down at them by a lone, expressionless demonic statue.

Leonard swallowed hard as he stared at the demon. "I don't think all of us will survive here..."

Saruman focused his gaze on the demonic statue. "A Statue-class Demon… this is rare."

Everyone stared in amazement at the demonic statue with the crimson eyes, because it was truly rare to find a demonic statue.

Then the eleven saints trembled when their eyes met the eyes of the demon.

Then Saruman quietly suggested, "Leave this demon to Leonardo, Park, Lamar and me. The rest of you, deal with the Golems"...
