Mo Beiyan's movement paused. He turned his head away. "Master Ran, do you not trust me?"
"No," Tong Ran blurted out in refutation. "I'm Chennchenn's biological mom, so…"
She realized what she'd just said and hurriedly cut herself off.
Mo Beiyan's expression dimmed. His hand loosening from the blanket, he then stood up. "Ah, if you hadn't reminded me I'd have forgotten—I'm not Chennchenn's biological dad."
His tone was light, but it made Tong Ran very uncomfortable to hear. She shook her head. "Mo Beiyan, that's not what I meant…"
Her voice unconsciously rose. Chennchenn, lying there, frowned his little brows and started mumbling, "Daddy, Daddy…"
Tong Ran hurriedly pushed Mo Beiyan away. She lay on her side and pulled her son into her arms. "Mom's here, Chennchenn, be good…"
