Chapter 40 - A Beginning Built on Pain

Green Area – Om's Clinic Opening

Om's clinic in the Green Area had been built with incredible attention to detail.

But honestly—

It looked less like a clinic…

And more like a small, high-end hospital.

Right beside the clinic, there was a dedicated store for Om's special medicines. And inside, a large hall had been set up, fully equipped with everything needed to prepare those medicines.

The entire place was filled with modern, advanced machines—technology straight from the current era.

But what truly stood out—

Was the design.

The clinic had been built like a luxurious bungalow.

In fact, if there weren't signboards outside, anyone could easily mistake it for a rich mansion instead of a medical facility.

There was a proper parking area, a beautifully maintained garden, seating spaces, and right in the center—

A small fountain.

Surrounded by greenery.

Peaceful.

Calm.

The open ground around it was even bigger than the clinic itself.

It was the kind of place where just standing there made your mind feel lighter.

Om's ability to choose the perfect place—

Was truly something else.

Outside, in the garden—

The opening ceremony was in full swing.

Om's family, the Mayor's family, the Kathwani family, and Seema were all present.

Everyone looked happy.

Relaxed.

Celebrating.

Meanwhile, Seema, Anshika, and Soumya were serving drinks to the guests.

The Mayor and Mr. Kathwani stood near Om, talking to him.

"Honestly, son… you've got a real talent. Choosing a place like this… and thinking of such a structure—it's impressive."

The Mayor said, holding his glass.

"Absolutely, Om. We have to admit—it feels more like a bungalow than a clinic."

Mr. Kathwani added with a smile.

Ayush walked up, placing a hand on Om's shoulder.

"Bro, how much more are you going to impress our parents? Every single day, they compare us to you—morning and evening."

Everyone laughed.

"And they should,"

the Mayor said, chuckling.

"Because Om's talent is hard to ignore. You boys should definitely learn something from him."

Om immediately shook his head, smiling humbly.

"No, no sir… please don't embarrass me like that. I only gave the idea. The real work was done by Ayush and Abhay. They built everything even better than I imagined. And I'm grateful to you too, sir… otherwise, I wouldn't even be opening a clinic today. This is all because of you."

Just then—

Vijay walked toward them.

"Well, I must say—the kids have done a fantastic job. Right, sir?"

"Absolutely,"

the Mayor replied with a smile.

At that moment—

A voice came from behind.

"Would any of you gentlemen like a drink?"

Anshika stood there with a tray in her hands.

The Mayor looked at her and laughed.

"Oh my God… Kathwani, look at this. Who's serving drinks today? I can't believe my eyes!"

Anshika's father laughed proudly.

"Looks like my daughter has finally become responsible."

"Now I get it… why the drink tastes so sweet today,"

the Mayor said playfully.

"Because my dear girl is serving it."

Everyone laughed.

Anshika smiled shyly—

And her eyes instinctively went toward Om.

For a moment—

Their eyes met.

Om immediately looked away.

Anshika noticed it.

And felt it.

"Alright, son… shall we begin the opening? The auspicious time is passing."

The Mayor said.

"Yes, sir. Of course."

Om replied, then called everyone toward the entrance.

"Everyone, please come this way. I want all of you to witness this moment… please."

Everyone gathered near the door—

Where a ribbon was tied.

Om stood in front.

Then smiled softly.

"If no one has any objection… I'd like to say a few words."

"Of course, of course… you should say something today."

The Mayor encouraged him.

Om nodded.

"Thank you, sir… and I would also like to thank you and Mr. Kathwani, along with your families… from the bottom of my heart. I'm standing here today because of you."

"Our reason? No… we're here because of you."

Ayush shouted playfully—

And everyone laughed.

Om smiled.

"Thank you, my friend."

Then his tone changed slightly.

Deeper.

More real.

"I also want to thank everyone here today… for being a part of this moment. Uncle, aunty… and my dear sisters—thank you for giving me so much love. Somewhere… this happiness exists because of you."

He paused.

"I'm not very good at giving speeches… but I'll try."

Everyone went quiet.

Listening.

Carefully.

"Five and a half years ago… I had completely lost to life. I was broken. I never thought I would ever reach a place like this."

His voice slowed.

"But there was one thing… a small hope… that never left me. And that hope is what brought me here today."

Silence deepened.

"I never made friends in my life… and today, all of you are standing here for me. This… this isn't just a clinic. You are my real success."

Some eyes had already started to tear up.

"In today's world… it's rare to find people who truly stand by someone… who think beyond themselves. You all know how the world is… how people are."

He smiled faintly.

"And I'm happy… that I have all of you."

A few people chuckled when he added—

"I only have words to give you right now… because the clinic hasn't even started earning yet."

Laughter spread—

But it carried emotion.

Not humor.

Then—

His voice softened again.

"You all know what has happened in the past few days… no one here is unaware. But today… let's forget all of that. Let's leave behind every bitterness."

He took a breath.

After losing my parents… I never imagined I would stand in front of so many people like this… giving a speech."

His eyes lowered slightly.

"I couldn't even talk to people back then…"

A heavy silence fell.

"After my parents passed away… I used to sit at the door for hours. Crying. Waiting. I was just a child… I believed they would come back somehow… that they would walk in and wipe my tears."

His voice trembled.

"But they never came."

No one moved.

No one spoke.

"At one point… I became deeply depressed. Then I found my uncle… we fixed the distance between us… and today, I'm standing here, smiling, in front of all of you."

He slowly looked up—

Toward the sky.

"So my hope never betrayed me. Today I understand… my parents didn't come back that day because I never went looking for them."

A few tears rolled down silently in the crowd.

"But when I finally did… they didn't give me just one… they gave me three people like them in my life."

He smiled faintly.

"An aunt who loves me more than a mother… sisters who care for me… and a family like yours."

His voice softened further.

"And friends… who worry about me."

He looked up again.

"Thank you… Mom… Dad."

And then—

He went silent.

The entire place—

Was still.

Every single person there—

Had tears in their eyes.

They weren't just hearing him—

They were feeling him.

Anshika—

Couldn't stop crying.

It felt like she was living his pain.

Everyone wanted to step forward…

To comfort him—

But no one moved.

Because they were waiting.

Waiting to see—

What he would say next.
