Chapter 368 - Chapter 365 ~ To Hamura Clan

Kaori was showing Arata the house and his room.

It was small, clean, and plainly ready for use: a proper bed against the wall. Nothing in the room looked temporary.

He stepped inside and placed one hand on the bedframe.

He had slept in corners before. In storerooms. On borrowed floors. In spaces that only tolerated him for a night before the world reclaimed them. This room had been made ready for him.

Kaori stood behind him and let the silence do its work.

Arata kept his hand on the wood a moment longer, as if checking whether the thing was real.

Downstairs, Dan was already filling out the adoption papers, moving fast and leaving no blanks. Kaori would submit them to the Leaf authorities the next day.

Ryu sat nearby and let him work.

His own thoughts tried to pull toward other unfinished business. Training data still moved too slowly through him. Using himself as the bridge between the two developing seal systems worked, but only barely. It was a bottleneck, and he knew it. Sooner rather than later, he would need a proper external hub instead of himself to sync the training data.

Then, the doorbell rang.

Ryu sensed the chakra signature. Dan pushed back his chair and went to answer it. A moment later, Yuki Sarutobi stepped in with her bag over one shoulder, wearing a disapproving expression.

Her eyes went to Ryu first.

"How have you been, Ryu," she said.

Ryu replied, "I am feeling like we should celebrate. You came right on time, Mother."

Then she noticed Arata.

Ryu stepped slightly aside and made the introduction before she could ask.

"Arata, this is Mother Yuki. I used to be an orphan under her care before coming here. You can call her Mother Yuki as well."

Arata blinked once.

That detail landed harder than expected. In Arata's mind, Ryu Hamura had always seemed like the kind of person who had simply existed above ordinary beginnings. Genius, strange authority, impossible competence—'orphan' did not fit the picture.

He bowed politely.

"It is nice to meet you, Mother Yumi."

Yuki did not correct him.

The wrong name confirmed what the file had already taught her. The flat sincerity, the lack of embarrassment over the error, the steady posture under social pressure... those belonged to the same boy she remembered from Konoha Hospital.

"I know this boy," she said.

Dan looked up from the paperwork. Naruto, drifting in from the hall, slowed enough to listen.

Yuki's gaze remained on Arata.

"His file crossed my desk months ago. His case was thoroughly investigated at Konoha Hospital before it reached me." Her expression tightened with professional memory. "Narcolepsy. Anomic aphasia. Every specialist gave up on treating him."

Ryu met her eyes without shifting.

"I know."

"You took him in your care?" Yuki asked.

"Yes."

"But those conditions are brain-related and not treatable … messing with the brain is dangerous."

"I didn't say I was going to fix him," Ryu said. "I was going to train him."

Yuki stared at him.

"He would fail even the basic academy standards."

Ryu's answer came without any change in tone.

"There is no academy exam for joining this family. "

Yuki looked at Arata for another second before her gaze returned to Ryu. Something in her shoulders eased by a fraction.

"Troublesome brat," she muttered, and sat down.

Her eyes moved back to him. "What else are you working on?"

"The prosthetic hand for Shiroi," Ryu said. "And later, the artificial lens-replacement project for the eye. I submitted a request to the medical council naming you as the surgeon."

Yuki closed her eyes for a second.

When she opened them, she looked less annoyed than tired in the very specific way only Ryu could manage to make her.

She reached into her bag and removed a folded notice.

"Then while you were juggling multiple impossible things at once," she said, placing it on the table, "your bingo book entry was updated."

Ryu unfolded the paper.

50,000 Ryo.

Dan glanced at the number and looked older for half a second. Naruto leaned over the table with bright curiosity.

"That is huge," Naruto said, counting the zeros.

Ryu looked at the number again, then set the paper down.

"Only fifty," he said.

Yuki gave him a flat look.

"If half the stories moving through the black markets are true, I suppose I should not be surprised." She paused. "I also heard a ridiculous rumour on my way here. They are saying you forged an artefact-grade blade."

"Not a rumour," Ryu said. "Its name is Senbonzakura. I gave it to Lord Hokage. It's beautiful."

*

Insaide of Naruto, Minato went still.

"He was a smith too... and crafted an artefact," he said quietly.

Kushina said, "At that age… unbelievable. And that bounty… my god. It means other villages have noticed him."

*

Yuki's patience thinned further.

"You are moving too fast," she said. "A fifty-thousand-ryo bounty means serious people are no longer treating you like an irritating village rumour. You are drawing enemies who would kill you if are not careful."

"This must be the work of the Raikage and Mizukage," Ryu said. "Danzo is not the only problem for me. Don't worry... They cannot move by themselves, and when they do, I will be ready for them… I already have a counter for Raikage almost ready. Other kages are also on my list for contingency justus."

Dan spoke up. "Have you perfected the Lightning Body Flicker?"

"No," Ryu said. "Not to the level where I could compete with the Raikage in pure speed."

Then he added, "But I'm not trying to outrun him. I have other plans to counter his speed."

*

Inside the seal, Minato listened to him more closely.

He already knew Ryu was not fast enough to compete with the Raikage's absolute peak.

"So what's the answer you found?" he wondered.

Kushina glanced at him. "He is already under the radar of two Kages."

Minato did not look away from Ryu and said, "You saw what he did against the Nine-Tails ... You think others might have not noticed."

*

Yuki lowered her voice after that. Naruto was in the room, and some topics did not belong near him in their full shape.

"The second council hearing," she said. "Are you ready?"

Ryu replied, "Ohh yeah, I just need to make some calls… I will just confirm now if everything is ready."

Ryu crossed to the side table and picked up the compact mobile unit. It looked sleek and wrong for the world around it, like an object that had arrived too early and decided to stay anyway.

Yuki watched. And said, "I still do not believe that thing reaches the Land of Rivers."

"Its range can go further if other daimyos cooperate," Ryu said. "And they will. I'm already getting requests from multiple lands."

*

Minato's eyes narrowed slightly.

"It's a communication device," he said.

He had understood the device the first time he saw it. What he understood now, more fully, was the scale of the military advantage.

"No relay teams. No messenger birds. No lag between information and action," he said. "That device changes everything… no wonder other kages are spooked by him. It offers huge military advantages."

Kushina looked at Naruto instead of the device.

Her voice came softer.

"A mother could hear her child's voice from far away and not sit in silence waiting for news."

*

The line connected.

"Hello, brother Ikkyu."

"Hello, Ryu. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"There's another adoption under the charter. I am submitting the application to the Leaf authority, but since you hold the Daimyo's charter for my clan's ninja training, consider this formal notice."

There was a short pause on the other end.

"Another one?"

"Yes."

A sigh travelled faintly through the speaker. "Fine. Send the details. Is that all?"

"No. Is the thing I asked for yesterday ready?"

"It's secured on our end. The council won't know what hit them."

"Good. Thank you."

He ended the call and set the device down.

Arata had been staring at him the entire time.

"Did you just call the Daimyo's son for me?" he asked. "I used to sweep floors."

"Get used to it," Ryu replied. "I have two Daimyo and one kage and a potential future kage on speed dial."

"Now…the hearing is the day after tomorrow. And everything is set as per the plan," he said. "Then stop worrying and party. We have a fifty-thousand bounty poster where I look awesome, a new brother under this roof."

He shouted for everyone to hear, "We are having a party tonight."

Naruto's face lit up immediately.

"A party."

As more food appeared at the table, the evening's tension began to recede.

Ryu let the table settle first. Then he rose and let the room quiet down around him.

"Tonight, we welcome Arata. Another brother joining us."

Arata kept still, but his attention sharpened.

Ryu turned to Naruto.

"And you too. You are already part of this family. The official paper will be sorted out soon. I will take care of it myself."

Naruto's face opened at once.

Inside the seal, Kushina's and Minato's faces also lit up.

Dan raised his cup. "To Hamura Clan… and to my troublesome grandson."

Dinner gave way to a quieter kind of evening after that. The household shifted naturally toward the common rooms as evening fully settled. Lamps were lit. Ryu wanted to show Arata something nice for a change and see the positive side for once.

Kaia crossed to retrieve her violin. Akihiro took up his biwa and settled it across his lap without needing help. Ryu moved to the piano and sat down as if it were simply the next natural thing.

Naruto stared. "You can play that?"

Kaia snorted softly and adjusted the violin beneath her chin.

Then the first note sounded.

The piano gave the room its frame. Kaia entered over it with a line that felt clean and bright without becoming sharp. Akihiro's biwa came underneath them, resonant and grounding, making the whole thing feel older and steadier than the walls around them.

For Arata, the music did not arrive only as sound.

His condition usually turned loudness into something harsh—flashes, waves, and colours with no mercy in them. But the experience was different. Ryu's piano spread in broad, calm bands of light, shifting and folding through the air like an aurora borealis.

Kaia's violin cut a clean silver path through that drifting curtain, while Akihiro's biwa gave the colours weight and gravity.

For the first time in his life, sound looked beautiful. He did not feel crowded by it.

*

The music reached the seal as pure emotional resonance, softened by distance and Naruto's own heart.

Kushina's eyes shone.

"Just when I thought this kid could not impress me any more..."

Minato held out his hand, asking for a dance.

She took it.

Beneath the light and warmth of the chakra sphere above them, the two of them moved together in the quiet of that sealed world, husband and wife for a few stolen moments inside their son.

In the outer room, Naruto wore the same soft smile without knowing why.

*

Far above that warmth in a separate layer inside Naruto, behind the bars and darkness and black water, Kurama rested his vast head on his paws and listened.

The music reached even there.

"Annoying bunch of kids..." he growled.

He closed his eyes.

The smallest, most reluctant smile touched the corner of his mouth.
