Chapter 7 - The orders of the abyss

After that, Manolo and Isidro find themselves resting in a vehicle hotel where they sleep inside their vehicle in another dimension. Isidro gets up, looks in the mirror, takes off some of his clothes, and notices that some parts of his body are not human.

«Damn it, these things are spreading quickly all over my body, what the hell am I going to turn into?» —Isidro thought, looking at himself with concern, then inhaled and exhaled heavily and added in a low voice. —What a topic.

Manolo slowly gets up, stretching his limbs. Isidro gets dressed again so that he doesn't notice; he uses a bit of magic to hide some of his parts.

—How much time has passed? —Manolo asked.

—About eight hours. —Isidro Answered.

—Those were the shortest eight hours in the world. —Manolo responded.

—Imagine, sleep is a brother of death; eight hours go by in the blink of an eye. —Isidro replied.

Manolo stares at him for a moment.

—What happened, Manolo? Is something wrong that you keep staring at me like that? — Isidro asked, feeling intimidated.

—Stop using so much magic, I don't want to give you your golopon when you become an uncontrollable monster. —Manolo Answered, who realizes the non-human sections he has.

—Damn, but that cross doesn't give me a chance. —Isidro replied.

—And you think this cross is fake; this cross is sacred and allows me to see behind your magic. —Manolo Answered.

—Well, the break is over, time to work. —Isidro replied as they returned to the dark dimension, they were going to pay for their stay; they went to the vehicle, and Manolo started it before leaving the place.

In the distance, enchanted armors are seen with Mad Max-style vehicles combined with the medieval era, armed to the teeth.

—Manolo Restituyo, the modern inquisitor, you will pay for what you did to our comrades. —Said a dark knight who emanates a green light from parts of his body, wearing dark green armor and wielding a double green sword.

—Yes, Mike, we are going to take revenge for what they did to our comrades. —Answered a female enchanted armor of dark purple color that emanates a purple light with a chainsaw as a weapon.

—Back off, Juliet, I'll take care of that inquisitor the Terrance Gage way, tornado kick. —Terrance replied, performing a kick similar to Ryu's Tatsumaki Senpukyaku, wearing a red enchanted armor that emanates a red light from various parts of his armor and wielding nunchaku.

—Don't start, you, because we haven't been able to finish off those bastards due to our lack of coordination. —Answered a yellow enchanted armor with yellow light emanating from various parts of its armor and wielding a medieval mace as a weapon.

—The last time we listened to you, they defeated us. What's the reason to listen to you, Duke? —responded a blue armor that emanates blue light from various parts of its armor and has a spear as a weapon.

—Don't start, guys, we are a team and I know we have failed to defeat those bastards, but today will be the exception. I count on you: Duke Spears, Juliet Chainsaw, Terrance Gage, and Lance Archer. —Mike Answered.

—It's okay, even if we fail in the attempt, we will always be with you, Mike Clank. —Juliet responded, and the others supported her.

—So what are we waiting for?! Let's finish off the modern inquisitor and his assistant! —Mike Exclaimed as they got in and started their vehicles to head toward where Manolo and Isidro were.

The sound of the vehicle engines was so loud that it alerted Manolo and Isidro. Manolo looks in the rearview mirrors.

—Demolishers, those bastards again. I'm tired of fighting against them. —Manolo said.

—Those people don't give up. —Isidro Answered.

—We're going to kick their asses like always! Get the Vaseline ready, damn it! — Manolo exclaimed as he activated the vehicle's weapons.

They drive down the road shooting at each other with everything they have until they launch bombs from catapults they pull out from the back of their vehicles to damage Manolo's vehicle, but he dodges them as best as he can. Juliet takes the lead to confront Manolo; she deploys chainsaws to cause him harm. Manolo activates his chainsaws and they engage in a chainsaw duel, but Juliet is very skilled, so Manolo activates a mud cannon to obscure Juliet's vehicle's visibility. In those brief seconds, he takes advantage and shoots a mine that sends her flying, taking her out of the fight.

—Juliet, no! You will pay for this, modern inquisitor! —Mike Exclaimed.

— I will avenge her, Mike, Lance, charge! —Lance Exclaimed, who activated a spear to impale him, but Manolo evaded it, hitting a corner of the other vehicle with his vehicle so that it would bounce in the air and finish him off with a guided missile.

—Lance, no! Damn it, now you'll have to deal with Terrance Gage. (sounds of kung fu) — exclaimed Terrance.

—Wait, Terrance, I'm coming with you! —Duke Exclaimed, who follows him.

—Guys, wait for me! —Mike Exclaimed, who was being followed.

The three of them charge toward Manolo's vehicle, and starting a three-on-one war, Manolo knocks Terrance off course with a sonic cannon, hits the corner of Duke's vehicle to flip it and destroy it with swarm missiles. To Mike, Manolo spins the vehicle so they can see each other face to face and shoot each other to pieces. Until they run out of ammunition, they momentarily pull apart to crash into each other, but Manolo's vehicle survives the impact, unlike Mike's, whose car is pulverized and the crash is so strong that it ends up compacted into the metal of the vehicle.

—Alright, I'm done with you, let's get out of here. —Manolo Said as he began to flee.

—That idiot Blackend only sends rookies to do a professional's job. I, Mark Speedracer, will put an end to those rookies. —Mark said, as he headed toward them.

—You missed one, Manolo. —Isidro said, but he noticed there was a fighter jet in the sky and added. —I meant two.

—What do you mean two? The Demolishers are not five. —Manolo Answered.

—Aren't you seeing the devil's Mark Five and the fighter jet that's flying over this area? —Isidro replied.

—And they sent us more, Virgin of Altagracia, but that devil's rebellion has nothing better to do, because damn it and what the hell. —Manolo Answered.

—Just so you know. —Isidro replied.

They adjust their caps backward.

—The fun is over, it's time to get serious. —Manolo said, who floors the accelerator.

The plane shoots bombs, missiles, and bullets at Manolo's vehicle. Mark and Manolo face off in an ultra-violent vehicular showdown, using all their weapons and maneuvers while dodging the aircraft's airstrikes.

—Curtis, Duncan, be careful, they're going to get me. —Mark Said over an intercom that connects to the Swat Tigers' ship.

—We were ordered to eliminate the inquisitor and his companion; if you're in the way, you'll get yours too. —Curtis Answered.

—That's just how things are, you bastards. —Mark replied and added. —After I finish with that bastard, you will be next.

Returning with Manolo and Isidro.

—We have to do something about that aircraft that's causing a lot of trouble. —Manolo said.

—Let's bring the battle to the air to finish them off. —Isidro replied.

—Good idea, I'm going to shoot a smoke bomb to put us in aerial mode and take the fight to the skies. —Manolo Answered, who does exactly what he just said.

In the air, they fight against the Swat Tiger; Manolo sets up the controller to activate joystick mode, as he knows how to pilot the ship with that configuration.

—That bastard is good. —Duncan said.

—Yes, but not enough. —Curtis Answered.

—Hey, don't leave me here. —Mark Responded, who activated the aerial mode of his vehicle to join the fight.

—Damn Mark, get out of the way. —Duncan replied.

—Never, I will win that bet. —Mark Answered.

This aerial battle went from a two-on-one to an all-out brawl. Until at one point in the battle, they shoot a guided missile at them, but Manolo uses a mini-robot that emits a signal causing the missile to change its target to him, which attaches to the Swat Tigers' plane. By the way, not before being shot down, they fire another missile, which during the fight they try to dodge, but Manolo makes a maneuver to make it hit Mark, ending the battle.

They fly off to their next order in the country of OverCraft. They land on a quiet street; they place a couple of orders upon arrival.

—This looks like Piantini, over there. The good thing is that the houses and buildings don't have deadly traps, but they are so creepy that it gives me the chills. —Manolo Said.

—At least they are gloomy and not with deadly traps like the houses in those hills. —Isidro Answered.

—We're going to keep installing. —Manolo replied as they continued installing in several houses.

—The rain of money! —Manolo and Isidro Exclaimed as they went dancing and setting up house by house.

After that, they decide to rest in the vehicle for a moment.

—I'm tired, everything hurts, how many orders are left? I feel like I lost fifteen pounds! —Manolo Exclaimed.

—And there are more to come, but that's good, because that incentive will come thru clearly! —Isidro Exclaimed.

—One question, how will the technicians manage to return to the country? As far as I understand, dragmarks are very valuable in the Dominican Republic, since what they pay us here is a pittance, but in the Dominican Republic, it's a fortune. —Manolo Answered.

—According to what I've been told, for technicians who have families or dependents, if they have their human body, they can return normally and change their dragmarks in the account provided to them and withdraw it from the debit card of the corresponding bank. In my case, since I am not living with my family, the company provides me with affordable accommodation that belongs to them. For those who sold their humanity, they use bracelets to hide their monster form or their parts. That's what Malcolm told me.

—If Malcolm said it, then he's right; at least they're not heartless enough to leave those technicians to fend for themselves. —Manolo said.

—Although not so much, since what they made me go thru and many of our technicians will not be forgiven by God. —Isidro Answered.

—You're right, they treat us worse than the Haitians in construction... Well, at least from my point of view, aside from how crappy some installation orders and clients are, the treatment toward me hasn't been that bad. —Manolo replied.

—Let them touch some shit; your opinion of the way you treat them will change. —Isidro responded.

—If you say so, we'll keep installing. —Answered Manolo.

After this conversation, they continue installing in various houses until they get a premium order in the dark building.

—What a tall building, we have to install all that! —Manolo exclaimed.

—That thing reaches up to the heavens, not even Batman would stand up there. —Isidro replied.

—Oh my God, but how tall! —Manolo exclaimed, who continues to complain about it.

—Let's park the vehicle to get this done quickly. —Isidro Said.

—Alright, but what a tall thing, it's taller than the Burj Khalifa. "The stairs, oh my God, the stairs!" exclaimed Manolo, who continues to complain about the building.

They enter the parking lot and get out of the vehicle, see the orders they have to install, and the amount they have to install is overwhelming.

—At least the entire building needs to be installed. —Manolo Exclaimed.

—That's what I see, well, courage, it's going to be a looooooong day. —Isidro Answered.

They enter the building, inform the receptionist of their arrival; one of the monsters there asks for an autograph. Manolo and Isidro sign for him, but others want an autograph because they became famous on the wrestling show. The receptionist tells them to leave, as they have work to do.

—A pleasure to meet you, gentlemen, my name is Bulash Arcoil and welcome to this humble abode. —Bulash Said, who is a Lovecraftian entity, extending a tentacle for a handshake and tentacle shake.

—The pleasure is all ours. —Manolo Answered, squeezing the tentacle, and Isidro did too.

—We have several installation orders in this building; it allows us to carry out the installation of these orders in this building. —Isidro replied.

—Let me check the system to see if they can install your technology today. —Bulash Answered, who checks his kind of computer from the dark dimension and added: —Wow, so many emails, let me check.

Bulash reviews all the emails in record time.

—There are several authorizations that can go thru, but first start with the lobby, since we also requested it. —Bulash Said.

—Alright, let's get started, come on, Isidro, let's go get the cables to set up the installation! —Manolo Exclaimed as they step out for a moment to do what he said.

They start installing the lobby; this poses no challenge for them. Once finished, they instruct the manager and his employes on how it works.

—Ready, let's go to the first floor, this is going to take a while. —Manolo said they are going to carry the materials up the stairs to the first floor.

Once on the first floor, they go to the rooms, knock on the door, and inform them that they are from Rare to install the services. The tenants let them in to proceed with the installation in their respective rooms. This happens with utmost normality. However, the more they go up and install, someone is watching in the shadows in one of the rooms.

—Attention everyone, the inquisitor is here, prepare to attack. —Said a voice speaking from a crystal ball.

—Ready, over here. —Said a being who reloads a shotgun and is ready to shoot when one of them stands at the door.

Several people in the building said they are ready. When Manolo is on the fourth floor, he knocks on the shotgun guy's door; he opens the door abruptly and shoots him in the belly and shoots him several times in the head.

—He didn't suffer any damage, it's impossible. —Answered the shotgun monster.

—Good morning, Mr. Winston, I have come to install your service; may I come in to set it up? —Manolo replied, who straightened up as if nothing had happened; his eyes went wide.

—I don't want your service, I just want to kill him. —Responded the monster, who was reloading the weapon, scared to death.

—Then let me call the center so you can tell them you don't want it. One moment, please. —Manolo Answered, who calls the center and gives them the code that he doesn't want the service in his work app."

—Dark Dimension Technical Support Center, Wilbert Mateo is here to assist you with what we can work on. —Wilbert replied.

—824844 DO Juan Restituyo. —Said Manolo.

—A pleasure to contact you, Mr. Restituyo, may I have the case or order to work on? —Wilbert replied.

—The service order 625891. —Manolo responded while Wilbert searches the system and finds the response that he doesn't want the service.

—Because he doesn't want the service, in the name of Lacry Winston. —Wilbert answered.

—Because he just wanted to kill me. —Manolo responded.

—What? —Wilbert replied.

—Yes, just as you hear, I have the account holder with me. Tell me the number, sir. The number 666-789-4567 —Manolo answered.

Wilbert proceeds to call him. The sphere rings for Lacry; Manolo hands it to him, which was on the table.

—Good evening, I am Wilbert Mateo from Rare, I am contacting Mr. Lacry Winston. —Wilbert responded.

—Yes, I am Mr. Lacry. —Lacry Answered.

—The reason I'm contacting you is because you requested this service to kill the technician; is that correct? —Wilbert replied.

—Yes, that's true, and I don't want their filthy and disgraceful technology. —Lacry Answered.

—I understand, then I will be canceling the order thru this channel and I apologize for the inconveniences caused. —Wilbert replied that he was canceling the service and then said goodbye to Manolo, ending the call.

—Ready, Inquisitor, what are you going to do to me now? —Lacry replied.

—Nothing. —Manolo Answered.

—Like it's nothing, but I did empty several shotgun magazines and you're not going to do anything to me. —Lacry replied.

—I have work to do, I'm leaving. —Manolo Answered as he was leaving, but Lacry lunged at him, and Manolo looked at him intimidatingly, making him back off and return to his room."

«I have to inform Isidro.» —Manolo thot he would go look for him. Manolo walks thru the aisles shouting Isidro's name until he finds him flirting with a customer.

—Manolo, what's wrong? I see you are exhausted. —Isidro asked.

—We have to be careful, there are followers of the anti-human rebellion in the rooms; they request our services in order to kill us. —Manolo replied.

—Oh, just what we needed, what do we do now? —Isidro asked.

—I will be the human shield, since weapons don't do anything to me, thanks to the cross, and you catch them with your magic while I threaten them to cancel the service. —Manolo Answered.

—Alright, if you say so, let's charge ahead. —Isidro replied.

Manolo and Isidro go floor by floor installing and finding the members of the anti-human rebellion to force them to cancel the service until they manage to install everything in the building.

—Done, we finished, how much time has passed? —Manolo asked, who is lying on the floor covered in sweat.

—Fortunately, we can take our breaks, but how exhausting it is to spend more than a month flying without the installations of the houses we lack; we should already be free, let's go back to the branch. —Isidro answered as we left the building, installed the remaining houses, stored what was left of the remaining materials, and went to the branch in the dark dimension.

Back from a long journey, they return to the branch, park the vehicle in its designated parking spot, and hand over the key to the workshop for maintenance.

—Let me go see Ludovico to find out about him. —Manolo Said.

—Alright, I'll go with you since Sonya isn't off today. —Isidro replied that he would go with him.

When they go to see Ludovico, they find him standing at the water cooler talking to the employes from the dark dimension, making dark jokes, and everyone was laughing at them.

—Oh, Manolo, Isidro, what brings you here? —Ludovico asked, the employes withdrew, leaving them alone.

—Mr. Ludo, how are you? —Manolo asked.

—Yes, Ludo, how has it been going for you here at the branch? —Isidro replied.

—I've been doing well, on the brink of death, but I've been doing well. —Ludovico responded.

—Sorry, Ludo, for all the inconveniences that the dark dimension has caused you. —Isidro replied.

—Don't worry, that's normal for someone like me who has visited this place several times. —Ludovico responded.

—Have you visited this place before? —Isidro replied.

—Yes, Ludovico has visited the dark dimension several times. —Manolo Answered.

—And if it could be known, for what purpose? —Isidro replied.

—That's none of your business, what I do with my time and where I am or am not. —Ludovico responded with a somewhat harsh tone.

— Excuse me, Mr. Ludovico Montoya. —Isidro responded in an exaggerated and indignant manner.

—It's true, Isidro, not everyone likes to share their private life. By the way, how has it been going with what we agreed upon? —Manolo replied.

—It's complicated, come on, Manolo, we need to talk in private. —Ludovico Answered.

—And I, don't you trust me? —Isidro replied.

— Let's say I don't trust someone who is on the side of darkness. —Ludovico responded and added. —Nice marks of corruption you have.

—You can see them too. —Manolo Answered.

—Of course, Isidro. —Ludovico replied.

—Well, Isidro, see you later, I need to talk to Ludovico alone. —Manolo Answered.

Manolo and Ludovico leave the place.

—That boy is very intelligent, but that won't stop me from knowing your identity, Ludovico Montoya. —Isidro said with the eyes of a demon, he leaves and follows them.

—He's not following, is he? —asked Ludovico.

—Let's go to my office, it won't get past there. —Manolo Answered as they head to the shared office of him and Hope, where Ludovico hangs a blessed cross to keep it from peeking in.

—Hope knows about this. —Manolo responded.

—She uses that cross to be alone. —Ludovico replied and added. —Don't tell anyone.

—Is that legal? —Manolo responded.

—Here, there are people who use them to have privacy. —Ludovico replied and added. —Whether it's legal or not, that's their problem.

—Well, if you say so. So, what happened with the system? —Manolo responded.

—I haven't been able to get there, I'm still validating with some IT employes who handle it to tell me, but there's a lot of industrial secrecy; I fear the worst. —Ludovico replied.

—Oh my God, but what is this? Now I'm scared. —Manolo Answered, who gets agitated.

—Calm down, Manolo, we're sorting it out, relax, if it's something bad and complicated, I'll help you, so getting worked up won't help at all. —Ludovico responded, who grabbed him by the shoulders to make him see reason.

—Alright, I leave my mental health in your hands, all this hustle and bustle is driving me crazy. As if an unstoppable force wants to come out of me and destroy everything. —Manolo replied as Ludovico took the cross and put it back in its place.

—Interesting, save all that frustration for when you quit. —Ludovico Answered.

—Alright, Ludovico, I'll leave everything in your hands. —Manolo Responded as they left the office.

—How did it go, Manolo? —Isidro asked, who was waiting at the door.

—You seem just like my wife, who wants to know everything; let's get out of here. — Manolo replied.

—Yeah, you say that. Let's go, c'mon. —Isidro Said.

—That you didn't hate that song. —Manolo Answered.

—It's true, you're right. —Isidro responded, who laughs about it.

Manolo looks at him with curiosity. They both leave thru their respective portals, one that takes Manolo to his house and another where Isidro goes, which is his residence in the Dominican Republic.
