Chapter 800, Wu Heng, Don't Be Reckless

The man's fist also slammed into his body.

Pfft~!

Blood spurted out.

Then came a rain of punches, pounding his body all over, bones cracking loudly.

...…

Outside the room.

The sounds of fighting and screams made the tavern owner and bartender waiting by the door tremble a little.

"Sir, this..." The owner stepped forward, hesitating.

Wu Heng turned and glanced at him. "Report the tavern's damages to the city hall. They'll verify and compensate you."

The owner smiled again and nudged the bartender beside him. "Go bring a chair for the lord."

Wu Heng looked at them. "No need. Just stay here."

"Yes, my lord."

Though confused, the owner and bartender stayed put, listening to the brawl inside.

...…

Soon, the sounds of fighting subsided.

The lingering poison mist also completely dispersed.

"Stay outside. I'll call you if I need anything," Wu Heng instructed the owner and bartender.

"Yes, my lord."

Wu Heng entered the private room and saw the man pinned under Kashu amidst the wreckage.

The man was still alive.

His chest was sunken in, limbs twisted.

Blood-soaked hair clung to his scalp, and his eyes burned with icy malice like a caged beast.

Level-18 Professionals really had tenacious vitality.

Wu Heng had given the command not to kill him.

Of course, only if they could prevent his escape.

Wu Heng pulled up a chair and sat down, looking at him. "Will more assassins be coming?"

Eyes wide and mouth bloody, the man mumbled, "If you kill me, you'll be in deeper trouble. I'm from the Shadow Brotherhood. We'll wipe out everyone around you."

"Do you know who I am?" Wu Heng asked with a grin.

"We'll kill that female city lord and then find out."

"Professional," Wu Heng praised, then waved his hand. [Mansion Spell] opened beside him. "Toss him in."

Kashu dragged the man into the Mansion Spell.

With a thought, Wu Heng summoned iron cages and shackles, locking the man tightly.

Before the man could speak again, the Mansion Spell vanished.

Three wraiths appeared beside him.

Wu Heng made a shushing gesture and pointed outside.

The wraiths nodded. Glenda dove into his body to share everything the man had done since entering the city.

Once it was all reviewed,

Wu Heng stepped out and told the waiting owner and bartender, "Alright, I'm taking him. Report damages to city hall."

He had kept them there in case the tavern was in on it.

But after viewing Glenda's memory, he saw no contact between the man and the tavern staff.

So they were likely uninvolved.

"My lord, can we resume business as usual?"

"Clean it up and reopen at your discretion," Wu Heng replied.

"Thank you, my lord," the owner said again.

Wu Heng left the tavern with the skeletons.

...…

Back at the City Lord's Mansion.

Wen Mansa and Slater both came out to greet him.

Seeing him return unharmed, they both breathed a sigh of relief.

It seemed like it had just been a routine matter.

Once in the living room, Wu Heng said, "I killed the level-18 assassin. No need to worry anymore."

Both women's expressions sharpened.

Level-18, killed?

It sounded like he was talking about some local gang member.

Slater had seen Wu Heng fight before. Taking down that level-18 cultist had required significant force.

And now it was done just like that?

"You're sure it was level-18?" Slater asked softly.

"Level-18. From his gear, probably a rogue or assassin," Wu Heng replied.

Slater opened her mouth, then closed it.

Wen Mansa stepped closer. "Master, you're not hurt, are you?"

"Didn't even enter the room. The skeletons handled it," Wu Heng chuckled.

They both relaxed.

"Looks like you've mastered the necromancer path," said Slater.

"Good. That's how it should be, no danger at all," Wen Mansa added. "Did the skeletons suffer any damage?"

"No. The tavern took some, but I told them to go to city hall for compensation."

"That's nothing," Wen Mansa replied.

Wu Heng turned to Slater. "Slater, have you heard of the Shadow Brotherhood?"

She frowned. "I've heard of them. An assassination group made up mostly of rogues and killers. Strictly assassination work."

"That guy was one of them. He even tried to threaten me. If I kill him, will someone avenge him?"

"I don't know. I'll investigate once we're back."

"Alright."

Slater asked, "What about the corpse? Use Corpse Questioning?"

"Using that on a level-18 body is a waste," Wen Mansa said.

"I have plans for it. He won't show up again," Wu Heng added.

The two nodded.

Wu Heng checked the time. Already past two in the afternoon.

He stood. "You two talk. I'm going to rest. I'll come down for dinner."

"Yes, Master."

Wu Heng headed upstairs, straight to his study.

...…

Zombie World.

He exited the room and asked Li Yanhong for an off-road vehicle.

A skeleton drove as they headed directly to the prison.

Once there,

Wu Heng opened the [Mansion Spell] and dragged out the severely injured man.

His body was covered in wounds, still barely alive.

Propped up by skeletons, he staggered along.

He saw Wu Heng unmasked.

The man's eyes bulged. He knew who this was.

Wu Heng!

The Lord of Gold-Silver Island.

He was in Rentam City, and he wasn't just some newbie necromancer like the rumors said—he was at least as strong as the man himself.

Damn it!

Why did I take this job?

Roar roar~!

Clatter clatter~!

As they walked the corridor, growls and the clacking of patrolling skeletons echoed from every cell like the road to hell.

A necromancer's research base.

He really did have a place to study dark magic.

"Wu Heng, where are you taking me?"

"You're with the Guild. You can't experiment on the living. You have a bright future. Don't do this."

"Wu Heng, I'll tell you anything you want. We don't have to be enemies. Please don't do this."

The man spoke through blood as he walked.

They entered a private cell. Shackles and chains were reattached.

"You win, Wu Heng. I give up. Let me kill the one who hired me, and we call it even."

Wu Heng looked at him. "You're more valuable alive."

"You're part of the Guild. Follow the rules!" the man yelled.

"Don't shout. It'll worsen your injuries."

"Don't you want to know who hired me? I know things you don't."

"I'm level 18, Wu Heng. I can do a lot for you. Don't be reckless. Don't bring trouble on yourself."

Wu Heng ignored him.

Seeing he was tightly secured, he ordered skeletons to stand guard.

Then left the cell, closing the door.

Outside, he told the skeletal alchemist, "Let him rest two days, then start the virus experiments."

The skeletal alchemist nodded.

...…

Back in the surveillance room.

Through the monitor, Wu Heng observed the man's movements.

After he left, the man started trying to unlock his restraints.

A clear sign he was a rogue.

Lockpicking was a rogue skill. Other classes wouldn't bother with it—they'd just bash the door or find another way in.

After a long struggle, the skeletons gave him a few good whacks before he calmed down.

He lay on the bed to recover.

Wu Heng took out the man's space ring and examined the contents.

Weapons, armor, coin pouch, scrolls, lockpicks, daily gear.

And several mysterious potions—likely poisons.

Wu Heng's eyes landed on one last item: a Ghost Train ticket.

"Another ticket."

There had to be a real method of obtaining these.
